Chapter 811 Target: Wakanda!

One of Ultron's targets was Wakanda. Upon receiving the news, the Avengers immediately mobilized, notifying T'Challa as they set off.

After boarding the plane, Hank gave Peter a lesson on Wakanda, the content of which was completely different from what Peter knew about Wakanda.

For example, Wakanda's geographical location is not in East Africa as Peter remembered, but in West Africa, bordering Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

"Wakanda was originally a small inland tribe of the ancient Mali Kingdom. Because it was located in the harsh Sahel region between the Sahara Desert and the Sudanese steppe, even during the colonial era, the French, as the nominal overlords, did not pay much attention to them. They worshipped the leopard god Bastet. Apart from that, because they had been ruled by the Mali Kingdom, they were actually quite... advanced African tribes."

Wakanda's two most famous specialties are vibranium and heart-shaped grass. The former was basically useless before the Industrial Revolution because vibranium is a metal that is extremely sensitive to energy. It can even prevent sound waves from echoing, and can also be called sound-absorbing steel.

This thing was considered a sacred object by the ancient Wakanda people. Its most common use was to repeatedly strike it before sacrifices and battles, and then throw it out as a grenade. It wasn't until the Great Colonial Era of the 19th century, when colonists began to exploit even the poorest parts of Africa, that vibranium was discovered by a few people.

The true role and capabilities of vibranium were only discovered during the interwar period.

As for the many instances in other Marvel universes where a single piece of vibranium could send the entire Wakanda into the sky, representing technological advancements thousands of years ahead of schedule, these things simply don't exist in universe 616.

"It was the Germans who discovered the special properties of vibranium from samples brought back by a few adventurers, and thus sent Hydra to invade Wakanda. This happened before the war broke out."

The captain was quite knowledgeable about this history: "Hydra's research into the Super Soldier Serum, besides being related to Mustache's Aryan Superman theory, was also due to Hydra's defeat in the Wakanda campaign."

"Because of the heart-shaped grass?"

Hank nodded: "Yes, because of the heart-shaped grass. This plant is also a specialty of Wakanda."

The heart-shaped herb of Wakanda is a poisonous herb. For the tribe's warriors, it can be crushed and applied externally to heal wounds, and it also has a small amount of enhancing abilities. However, for the Wakanda royal family, the chieftains of the Black Panther tribe, this heart-shaped herb can be crushed and taken directly in a ritual, after which the Black Panther will gain superhuman physical abilities.

That's why, when the first Hydra soldiers appeared in Wakanda, intending to bully the local tribes, they were utterly defeated by a super soldier wielding vibranium melee weapons, which led to the Super Soldier program being put on the agenda.

As for Wakanda's technological and economic development, it was driven by Azuri, the grandfather of T'Challa, the then King of Wakanda. The biggest difference between Azuri and his predecessors was that Azuri had studied in Paris and, relying on the special properties of vibranium, did business with the Allied forces. Later, during the Cold War, he did business with both sides, making money by exporting vibranium every year, while also using vibranium to develop the country.

And, they pretended to be poor. Since all the neighbors were poor, everyone naturally assumed Wakanda was poor too. Plus, with vibranium exports decreasing, many thought Wakanda was dying. If the Avengers hadn't encountered Ulysses Klaue and one of Wakanda's tribal leaders, the White Ape, colluding in a rebellion, the whole world would probably still be in the dark—Wakanda is now a fairly advanced and developed country.

"The reason why vibranium exports are decreasing is due to their demand. Wakanda is gradually developing various functions of vibranium, and smuggling has become very serious in recent years."

"Alright, I've finished communicating with Wakanda. Everything is normal there now, and there are no problems with the vibranium deposits."

While Hank was explaining things, Bumblebee, who was in charge of communication, had also completed her task. After listening to everything, Peter looked at Avenger Ultron, who had also boarded the plane: "Speaking of which, if one of you Ultron needs to strengthen your body to the point of being a mixture of adamantium and vibranium, why don't you?"

[This formula is for use in combat, but I have no combat mission.] "No combat mission means the opponent has a combat mission, but you also say you can't inflict fatal damage or attack... Isn't that a contradiction?"

When faced with Peter's question, Avenger Ultron's answer was simple and straightforward.

I am very certain of my basic logic. But I cannot guarantee that other Ultrons might logically circumvent this.

Peter thought of Doctor Ultron. Theoretically, Doctor Ultron couldn't be said to have harmed others, but various surgeries, especially some prosthetic surgeries, inevitably involve destructive procedures. Yet Doctor Ultron seemed to be perfectly fine.

So this so-called Ultron is getting stranger and stranger.

Banner, however, had something else on his mind.

“We’re about to enter Wakanda’s airspace, Tony. Do you want to get into the Kun fighter jet? I remember the last time you were brought down by the air defense system.”

In an instant, the whole team became happy, and even Bumblebee's shouts were almost drowned out.

"Wakanda is almost here!"

Peter looked down from the fighter jet and saw that the distant landscape did not look much different from the so-called poor African countries he remembered. It was located in the arid inland region of West Africa, with only the Niger River flowing through a few seemingly underdeveloped cities in the distance.

But the closer the fighter jet got to Wakanda, the faster the scenery changed. A huge mountain appeared in front of them, which was part of the impact crater left by the giant meteorite in ancient times.

After the Kun fighter jets flew over the mountain peaks, a completely different scene unfolded on the other side. Vast forests covered the entire ring-shaped mountain area, gradually extending towards the center with rivers, farmland, and villages. Finally, on the north side, nestled against the mountain, stood a highly modern city, not much larger than Manhattan.

"Their population is small; the entire population of Wakanda is less than that of New York City, so one central city is enough. The total size of the city is about the same as that of Manhattan."

Peter looked at the distant city of Wakanda and asked Hank, who was explaining things, with curiosity, "How did they manage to develop to this point in just a few decades?"

Tony answered Peter's question.

"It's very simple. Just work hard and pretend to be poor on the international stage, so that Europe and America won't interfere."

This book contains entirely original information about the history and geography of Wakanda.

Because Marvel's original concept was so far-fetched, it had a kind of beauty reminiscent of Native Americans showing off their obsidian daggers and stone tools.
