Chapter 807 Interview
Chapter 807 Interview
When Peter led Mary Jane into the Avengers' headquarters, Tony was talking to Captain America about recruiting new Avengers members.
"What was the name of that pilot you were talking about again?"
“Sam Wilson, he’s not a pilot, he’s a paratrooper, and now he’s with the Veterans Mutual Aid Committee. He lives in the District of Columbia. I met him when I went to the District of Columbia.”
As the captain spoke, he shook his head: "I don't recommend you recruit him. He's retired, and he doesn't have any superpowers. He can only fly with a pair of mechanical wings, and his weapons are just two submachine guns..."
"You didn't even bother to ask him if he wanted to. You said he might be the only person still alive who could use that kind of aircraft. And we happen to know the engineer who designed it, Adrian Toms, who is in New York."
Upon entering the event space, Mary Jane saw Tony sitting on the sofa drinking, and Captain Mary Jane sitting at the bar with one hand on the bar. Mary Jane instantly felt her breathing quicken.
Unlike the Human Torch, although Johnny is a well-known superhero, he is also quite unreliable, which makes him approachable. Iron Man, Tony Stark, on the other hand, is generally perceived as arrogant and domineering, and extremely unfriendly to the media.
As for Captain America, everyone considers him to be the ideal symbol of America, the true American spirit (although contrary to reality). Mary Jane, standing among them, was clearly quite excited and even wanted to find a restroom to double-check her image.
She even glanced at Peter, who was adjusting the camera, and then whispered, "How come you're not nervous at all?!"
"Um... I see the Fantastic Four whenever I go for my internship, and it's not like I haven't seen Tony Stark and Captain America before, so why should I be nervous?"
Hearing that it wasn't the answer she wanted, Mary Jane could only bite her lip. Peter comforted her, saying, "Don't worry, Tony Stark won't mind. Just write down all his answers."
“That’s exactly what I’m worried about. You’re telling me he doesn’t accept knowing the questions beforehand at all. I have no idea what Tony Stark will answer, and I might not even know what I’m going to ask next!”
I know, just like a novelist has no idea what the next 100 words of the story will be like. Peter muttered, then added, "Look at it another way, you're the first reporter to have an exclusive interview with Tony Stark, and you're an intern at that. After this, you're definitely going to be famous, and your career at the Daily Bugle will definitely be smooth sailing from now on."
That's why I'm nervous. What if I mess it up?
Meanwhile, Captain America and Tony's conversation was almost over. Captain America said he was going to keep an eye on the Human Torch and then left. Tony then beckoned the two young men over: "Hey, Parker, how's your nanobot project at Baxter Tower going? Maybe it can be used in my new armor."
“...You should know the progress, Mr. Stark.”
"Really? Then I haven't seen it yet."
Tony muttered something and shook his head, then yawned, gesturing for the two to sit down. He then waved his glass toward the bar, saying, "Want some? Don't worry, it's not very strong, and nobody will know you've been drinking, unless you're planning to use Tony Stark's rule about minors drinking to blackmail me."
Seeing Tony's smile, Peter was momentarily speechless. He quickly said, "Um, I think it's still..."
“I’d like a drink.” Mary Jane’s words made Peter look at her. Mary Jane took a deep breath. “Excuse me, but I’m a little nervous. May I have a drink, Mr. Stark?”
"Of course, but don't drink too much. I don't want the reporter interviewing me to be a drunkard."
Tony watched as Mary Jane poured herself half a glass of wine and drank it down, then laughed: "I like this girl."
I feel like I've heard that before... Peter thought carefully, and then remembered that Tony had said the same thing to Gwen.
As for Mary Jane, interviews have already begun.
The content and questions of the interview were actually quite conventional, mainly focusing on "why choose to release the algorithm publicly", "how to view the Roxon-Stark War" and "how to deal with armored warfare in the future". In fact, many of these things were mentioned by Tony in his "I have an announcement" that night, but this time Tony used a more calm approach to answer many questions.
Many questions were answered in addition to the above, and the whole interview made it seem that this was not an impulsive tactic by a billionaire out of spite. On the contrary, it was a well-thought-out idea by Tony Stark, and he was indeed taking the matter seriously.
Throughout the interview, Tony was quite patient, even extending his questions to Mary Jane, many of which were questions Mary Jane hadn't even considered.
Of course, Peter also took a few photos of Tony and Mary Jane to prove the authenticity of the interview and their demeanor. He was careful with the lighting, making sure they both looked intelligent and rational in the photos.
The interview took longer than Mary Jane and Peter had expected. Tony would talk at length about almost every question he got his hands on, and in the end, he talked for more than two hours, filling Mary Jane's notebook to the brim.
“At first I thought you shouldn’t use a laptop, but should bring a laptop computer. But when he started talking I realized that the computer couldn’t possibly remember so much, and I was even more surprised to learn that Stark could say so much.”
After the interview ended, Peter couldn't help but complain to Mary Jane, who laughed helplessly: "Actually, it's not really necessary to write everything down. My shorthand notebook is just for preparing the script later. Whether it's this interview or your conversation with the Human Torch in the car, I recorded it all with a voice recorder."
"I completely forgot about the voice recorder, really..."
"Don't worry, in the end it will just be a written transcript, and they won't reveal your identity."
Mary Jane smiled and looked around. "Tony Stark said we should have lunch before going back, but where should we have lunch?"
"Have you seen Johnny?"
Peter pointed to Johnny, who was chatting with Bumblebee in the distance: "He definitely knows."
