Chapter 758 How Immortal Weapons Are Born

Chapter 758 How Immortal Weapons Are Born
Peter looked at the mountain spider, and then seemed to understand its concerns: "Are you worried that I might not be able to find your heart? I think you don't need to worry about that at all. I know the anatomy of spiders, I know that spiders have hearts, and I know what they look like."

What do you know!
The mountain spider finally understood. While the person before him was indeed a promising talent with abilities derived from spiders, this guy was completely ignorant of ki cultivation. Therefore, the mountain spider angrily exclaimed, "Didn't that damned Iron Fist tell you that the prerequisite for becoming an immortal weapon is first cultivating ki?"

Peter paused for a moment. "Really? I don't think so."

"Listen up, mortal. I'm asking you, what is the only immortal weapon you've ever seen?"

"Iron Fist?"

“No, I’m not asking ‘who’.” The Mountain Spider lowered its body, looking at Peter with its eight large eyes: “An immortal weapon is still a weapon, so what is an immortal weapon, as you can see? Is it his fist? No! An immortal weapon is a person!”

Immortal weapons are people. After cultivating in Kunlun, excellent martial arts and mastery of internal energy are indispensable prerequisites for becoming an immortal weapon. It can even be said that the power of immortality resides within the bodies of immortal divine beasts, but those who acquire the power of immortality, without mastering these basic abilities, will only obtain a superficial understanding.

The key lies in transforming the entire person into an immortal weapon. To achieve this, one needs "qi," or more precisely, "qi energy."

"I doubt you can hear the difference. Just think of it as air. Anyway, that Iron Fist probably didn't understand it either."

After finishing his explanation, the mountain spider continued rambling on: "If you simply extract the power of immortality and integrate it into your body through a ritual, then you are not an immortal weapon at all, understand? For example, if you fuse the power of immortality with your fist, then only your fist is immortal, not you yourself! This means that even if someone cuts off your hand, they can still make it into a weapon!"

"The same principle applies to other parts of the body, so why not find a sword and fuse it with the power of immortality? At least a sword is harder than human bones!"

Peter suddenly realized: "So what actually needs to be fused with the power of immortality is qi? It's qi that possesses the power of immortality that turns a person into an immortal weapon? Nobody's ever told me that!"

So, Spider-Man and Mountain Spider stared at each other blankly. Then, Mountain Spider began to regret sending Iron Fist away. "Do they really expect a mythical beast like me to personally teach someone how to cultivate ki?"

It then turned and headed into the mountains, its large rear end nearly knocking Peter off, leaving only the words, "Follow me." Peter quickly followed, the two of them swinging swiftly forward on their webs. They followed the mountain spider for an unknown amount of time before Peter finally saw something other than rock spikes and spiderwebs: some huge rocks had been leveled, with buildings constructed on top, and people cleaning and working there.

However, they looked rather tired, not nearly as radiant as Kunlun. Upon closer inspection, these flattened peaks also had farmland, orchards, and even rivers, but due to the Gotham-like weather, the harvest didn't seem to be very good.

The mountain spider nimbly climbed to the temple the believers had built for them, then used its silk to pull out a stack of books and tossed them to Peter: "These are martial arts techniques for cultivating internal energy, left behind by your ancestors. It's a real pity, as the Spider Kingdom now has virtually no martial arts masters and can't guide you. Take a look for yourself."

After saying that, the mountain spider, too lazy to teach any further, left, leaving Peter staring blankly at the pile of books in his hands. The characters were easy to recognize; they were either in clerical script, traditional characters, or even a few in simplified characters—he recognized them all. But the problem was, he'd never practiced qi cultivation before! How could he possibly learn it just by throwing two books at him?
Meanwhile, Kunlun.

Daniel Rand returned to the temple where the Elder Shou resided. Although his name was Elder Shou, he was actually more akin to the Azure Dragon among the mythical beasts. At this moment, he was sunbathing on the roof. Turning around, he saw Daniel and then looked up: "You've come, Fist of Immortality. Have you grasped the opportunity to advance further?"

“Not yet, Elder Shou. Although I can feel the power of immortality flowing within my body, I still cannot control it freely.” Daniel felt somewhat ashamed: “Such immense power makes me feel that I should be able to do more and better, but in reality, I am always limited by the power I can release and cannot do many things. I cannot even release the power of immortality from both fists at the same time. I am probably the weakest iron fist in the last thousand years.”

"So that's why you return to Kunlun twice a year to challenge me and try to find a solution." As he spoke, Elder Shou floated up. "I heard you brought an apprentice to that Mountain Spider fellow?"

"An outstanding and noble warrior. Although he has not yet undergone the training of Qi, I believe he can do it and become an immortal weapon. And I know the battles he has experienced; he needs more power, even every last bit of power."

“Then you might work with him, or even teach him how to use Qi.” Old Master Shou said calmly, “Sometimes, teaching others is itself a form of learning. As the saying goes, teaching and learning go hand in hand. Changing your perspective on all this might be more helpful to you.”

"That's what I think too, Elder Shou."

"But before that..." Elder Shou said, raising his massive body, "Let's have a match first, the Fist of Immortality!"

Several hours later, Daniel Radcliffe, having finished his battle with Elder Shou, arrived in Spider-City. He knew that Spider-Man was about to face extremely difficult training. For a cultivator, the most difficult step is actually becoming aware of one's own Qi, this formless, life-sustaining non-material energy. Only by realizing its existence can one use it for cultivation.

Daniel didn't see any problem with the subsequent training, but without his help, Spider-Man might never have realized the existence of the ki within him.

He landed lightly on the ground and walked into the temple dedicated to the mountain spider: "Spider-Man, I need to tell you something about the training of Chi and immortal weapons... You can already circulate Chi?"

Iron Fist stood in the doorway, staring incredulously at Peter, who was lying in a hammock woven from spider silk and reading a book.

How did you manage to train like that?
A large portion of the section on immortal weapons is original and contains personal interpretations, as Marvel has written relatively little about them. However, it's true that immortal weapons are all created by masters of Qi cultivation.
