I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.

Chapter 692 Beware, Nick Fury is lurking here.

Chapter 692 Beware, Nick Fury is here.

Peter arrived at the new Web Base once again, which is actually quite funny. As Spider-Man, he rarely comes to this place, and he doesn't even know that other people are playing games on the Web Base's supercomputer.

Peter entered the Spider Web Base through the underground entrance with a hint of anticipation. It was originally Hydra's underground base on the Hudson River, but the huge base was empty except for a black man sitting in front of the base's supercomputer, playing with a Rubik's Cube.

As Peter walked over, he heard Nick Fury complaining, "Couldn't you have made the base entrance a little more convenient? The entrance is right below Tom's Studio, but there's no way to get in directly from there. My agents had to search for the entrance several times before they found it."

"That entrance was designed that way to avoid any association with Toms Studio. It just so happens that a Mr. Adrian bought the place to use as a laboratory, so it was convenient to start construction."

Peter approached Fury as he spoke, while Fury continued playing with his Rubik's Cube. He asked, "Are you wondering where your two classmates are? You brat, you didn't tell them I was here, did you? They were scared half to death when they came in. Luckily, the Osborn kid knows who I am, otherwise they would have activated the base's automatic defense system."

"I just forgot to tell them, just like they forgot to tell me they were playing games on the Spiderweb Base computers—mainly because they didn't tell me."

Fury laughed, and before Peter could reach him, he solved the Rubik's Cube, placed it on the table, and looked at Peter: "If we're talking about little secrets, you probably have more than they do, right? But then again, people with different abilities should have different levels of secrets. There's no benefit in telling others many things."

And this is the purpose of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s existence—many secrets and truths are beyond the reach of ordinary people to bear or know. The original intention of S.H.I.E.L.D. was to protect human common sense while dealing with those uncommon knowledge.

"But does S.H.I.E.L.D. still need to keep 'so many' secrets?"

However, the Avengers and the various chaotic events of recent years have greatly enhanced Earth's understanding of all sorts of monsters and demons in Universe 616. Heroes, villains, and monsters from the technological, magical, and mythological realms are emerging in droves. Of course, there are still many things that even Peter believes cannot be revealed to the public.

However, there are many things that should be revealed, or that could already be revealed, or even that would be more beneficial to the public, but S.H.I.E.L.D. has kept these secrets.

"This is the logic of power. Spider-Man, when any department has power, it will not think about giving up its power, but will choose to take more power into its own pocket. S.H.I.E.L.D. exists by secrets and also needs secrets to maintain its power. When secrets are gradually revealed, when people get used to them, when these things can be dealt with by the government or even the public, S.H.I.E.L.D. will lose its power."

"And that's why S.H.I.E.L.D. was able to be infiltrated by Hydra."

Nick Fury laughed and turned to Peter: "No, that's why Hydra can be so ubiquitous. But this is also a good opportunity. Once we completely eliminate Hydra, or at least weaken it, S.H.I.E.L.D. can take the opportunity to streamline operations and release some unnecessary intelligence."

Peter was somewhat surprised by this, but he didn't ask any further questions. If things were to follow the trajectory of Captain America 2, S.H.I.E.L.D. would eventually disband and there would be no need to consider related matters. Even if that didn't happen, it would still be much better than the current situation.

So Peter simply used spider silk to stick a chair to him and pulled it over to sit down. Before he could say anything, Fury handed him a document, leaving Peter somewhat confused.

"What's inside here..."

"My informant got the information from Hydra's headquarters on Hydra Island. You've destroyed about 60% of Hydra's forces in the Savage Continent and other places, but there are still quite a few left. Hydra has also started systematically eliminating less important bases and withdrawing various resources. Furthermore, this includes the progress of Hydra's weapons expansion program—your efforts have allowed my informant to get quite a bit of information." I'm more curious about who your incredibly resourceful informant is. Never mind, it's not important.

Peter put the documents away, intending to take them to Avengers Tower, while Fury continued, "Besides, Hydra has started creating a new Cosmic Cube. I hope the Avengers are aware of this. Once they are about to succeed, my informants will do anything to reveal the coordinates of Hydra Island, and then the Avengers will be needed to stop them."

“In theory, Hydra is unlikely to succeed. After all, in reality, no one but me should be able to tear open the rift to the transcendent realm—they can’t even tear open the connections in this universe.”

"Unless someone from beyond the realm deliberately opened a crack and threw in a zombie's head."

Peter immediately looked at Fury. "How do you even know this?"
“You can’t expect a gossipy mercenary to keep quiet about information when he sees money. I had Deadpool get some zombie virus serum from Reed Richards and then went to their universe to find out what they really want.”

Peter breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this: "Well, I was initially planning to ask Wade for a favor, but now it seems there's no need for that."

"Speaking of which, is there anything else you wanted to see me about?"

"Oh, by the way, I heard from Cindy that you have a batch of LMD, right? A batch of LMD that wouldn't be indistinguishable from real ones even after dissection? How do you make these things? Cloning technology?"

Nick Fury raised an eyebrow, then asked, "What do you need this for?"

So it really exists?

"Yes, we do. What's wrong? Do you need protection for your family's safety?"

"If possible... although it's a bit strange, I want to talk about something else, about the Hand. We plan to put on a big show and really target the Hand."

Fury nodded knowingly. Although Peter didn't know how much information Fury had about the Hand, he figured that Fury's quick thinking meant he couldn't possibly be refusing.

“Tell me who the target is, and I’ll put the LMD in Avengers Tower tonight.”

"No DNA or anything is needed?"

“Don’t worry, Spider-Man.” Fury stood up with a smile: “LMD is not a clone.”
