I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.

Chapter 647 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Chapter 647 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The first day of the new semester has passed just like that. The most excited one is actually senior Jessica. While having to undergo S.H.I.E.L.D. agent training and missions, as well as the pressure of college entrance exams, she resolutely decided to devote all her energy to the detective club and was determined to make the detective club bigger and stronger in this year.

After all, this is her last year in high school. Last year, she only recruited a dozen or so new students, and only three or five of them were active. This year, she must recruit enough people from the freshmen!

Peter, on the other hand, obtained the list of new students from S.H.I.E.L.D.

"What do you want this for?"

Following Fury's orders, Coulson brought the freshman roster to Peter, expressing his confusion. The roster included not only first-year students but also transfer students, but he and Nick Fury were unsure why Spider-Man needed the freshman information.

Peter gave them the simplest reason.

“I’m a little worried that a bunch of superpowered people might suddenly appear among our juniors. You know, I know a lot… about other universes. Sometimes this information is very fragmented, so I have to check it repeatedly.”

Coulson raised an eyebrow in slight surprise. He didn't think this high school could be so outrageous as to have a large number of superpowered individuals. It wasn't some kind of paradise. Unless some organization intentionally gathered everyone here, why would so many people suddenly appear?

Peter didn't give a direct answer. He was sitting in the safe house of the S.H.I.E.L.D. bus team, looking at the roster while asking Coulson other questions. First was Amadeus. Although Amadeus seemed capable of handling it, Peter still asked him what had happened. Coulson's answer surprised Peter.

"You don't know?"

“Yes, we don’t know.” Coulson shook his head helplessly. “One thing we can confirm is that your classmate is not lying to you. He has indeed been staying at home and almost never goes out. But the problem is, we don’t know what he’s doing in his room.”

"You can't hack into his computer, right?"

After a moment's thought, Peter understood the reason. Amadeus Zhao in the Marvel Universe is known as the "Seventh Genius in the World." Regardless of how much exaggeration there is in that title, it at least shows that Amadeus is indeed an intellectually gifted person. Given that, defending against S.H.I.E.L.D. on the internet is not an impossible task.

"Well, things might be worse, of course, from S.H.I.E.L.D."

Coulson said helplessly, "Our system was directly hacked and completely paralyzed. For a full ten minutes, none of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s computers could function properly. If we hadn't confirmed that no data had been lost or accessed, S.H.I.E.L.D. might have already taken control of it."

Peter frowned. There was no doubt that there were indeed people within S.H.I.E.L.D. who wanted to arrest Amadeus, but their demands had not been met. Nick Fury kept an eye on them.

So, are these people Hydra agents hiding within S.H.I.E.L.D.?
And a crucial point is that last year, Amadeus seemed to be hiding his intelligence and other abilities, but now he seems to be increasingly unwilling to act, and we don't know what exactly happened to him.

Peter continued flipping through the freshman roster as he pondered, but after a few glances, he couldn't hold back any longer and looked up at Coulson.

"Tantie Bowen and Tyron Johnson, transferring to the junior year? Seriously?"

"Considering that Midtown High already has Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Silk, Ghost Spider, Black Cat, and Agent Venom, Director Fury thinks it would be very appropriate to transfer Cloak and Dagger to Midtown High as well, which would also facilitate centralized management."

Manage my ass! Besides a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who can S.H.I.E.L.D. actually manage? It's more like they're just making it easier to monitor people. Seriously, isn't this just a trap set by Hydra?
Peter muttered to himself as he continued flipping through the list. He remembered that in the comics, Captain Britain and Jessica Jones were Peter Parker's classmates, but this universe was clearly different. Jessica was already an adult and a detective, while Captain Britain was truly in England. There was also a movie called Ultimate Spider-Man that focused on Spider-Man's high school life, with teammates like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Nova, and White Tiger...

Hmm, Iron Fist and Luke Cage can be skipped. What's White Tiger's name again? I forgot. Nova is Sam Alexander, great, no more.

Peter was halfway through the book when his hand suddenly stopped. Then he saw a name: Richard Ryder. Or rather, the first rising star.

Oh no, I forgot that this person was just a high school student when they debuted.

"what happened?"

Seeing Peter's expression, Coulson sensed that Peter had noticed something. Peter sighed and pointed out the name: "There's no record of this person in the wasteland universe's intelligence?"

"In reality, many people are still unaware of the existence of the Wasteland Universe, and the information within it is top secret. Apart from Director Fury, probably no other S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel know about its existence. Richard Ryder, who is he?"

"Uh, Green Lantern."

"You mean that terrible movie Ryan Reynolds starred in?"

"In the universe, there is a group of guys who are like Green Lanterns, called the Nova Corps. They are responsible for maintaining peace and security in the universe. The difference is that they are neither as powerful nor as cool as Green Lanterns. Their power comes from a helmet that looks like a bucket, and their abilities are... well, a low-budget version of Superman."

"So an alien crashed on Earth, barely alive, and gave his helmet to a young man named Richard Ryder because he had a strong will and stuff, just like Green Lantern..."

Coulson chuckled and joked, then, seeing Peter's tense expression, he immediately realized: "Is that really true?"

Yes, this is the origin of Marvel's Nova Corps. Roman Day, a centurion in the Nova Corps, was fatally wounded in a battle with space pirates. Before he died, he tracked the enemy to Earth and let the helmet choose a successor. It can't be said to be exactly the same as Green Lantern, but it can be said to be copied from Green Lantern.

The difference is that Marvel really likes young people to be superheroes.

"He may not be a rising star yet, or he may never be in our universe, but..."

Coulson nodded knowingly: "I know, there's precedent. Keep watching."

But then Peter controlled his expression very well, so Coulson didn't notice anything amiss, or rather, he himself had no expression at all.

Alex Wilder, Nicole Minoru, Molly Hayes, Carolina Dean, Chase Stein...

Peter only remembered Nicole Minoru's name, but that was enough.

“Investigate the parents of these individuals.” Peter sighed helplessly. “I doubt any of them are innocent.”

Midtown Middle School is truly awful; even the Outcasts Alliance has come here.
