Chapter 643 comes to a temporary end
Chapter 643 has come to a temporary end.
When Fimbulwinter was stopped, and the Avengers and the Sorcerer Supreme arrived at the ruins of Asgard with the Box of Winter, Odin, who was prepared to suffer in Fimbulwinter, paused for a moment. He knew what this meant: the order of Ragnarok had been disrupted.
"I'll keep the Winter's Treasure Chest with me for now; that should put Asgard at ease."
Strange made no attempt to conceal his intentions and directly made the request to Odin. Odin did not refuse, after all, this thing could trigger Fimbulwinter anywhere in the Nine Realms, but it was very safe with the Sorcerer Supreme.
He sat on the ruins of Asgard and suddenly burst into laughter, an uncontrollable, hearty laugh. His sons, Thor, Tyr, and Heimdall, were beside him, watching their father laugh like that.
"The Norns, the three goddesses of fate, wanted to control their destiny, but were fooled by it. They thought they could guide the arrival of Fimbulwinter, let a monster kill my son, let my son betray me, and let him stab my wife, but in the end, they broke their own destiny."
Ragnarok is inevitable, but Peter Parker may change its outcome. So the three Fates scheme and release Mangog in an attempt to "put everything back on track".
But what was the result? Mangog was banished to outer space by Spider-Man, and Iceman and the Avengers were brought in by Spider-Man, so Odin couldn't help but laugh.
He laughed for a while, then stopped laughing, stood up, and looked at the Avengers who had come to his aid.
He didn't say what Malekith would choose to do next, but Loki would definitely resurrect Laufey, win over Hela, and further expand Malekith's Council of Worlds.
But so what? Without Fimbulwinter, Odin can still have his Odin's Sleep, and as long as he is alive, Asgard will not fall!
"My father will probably go into an even longer hibernation next."
Seeing Odin lost in thought, Thor went over to the Avengers and said, "I'm sorry, my friends, I won't be able to go to Midgard during this time. Whatever happens, you'll have to rely on yourselves."
"It's alright, we've always survived like this. Don't forget that humanity has lived for even longer without gods."
The captain could understand Thor's predicament, and the Asgardians certainly needed him more right now.
Furthermore, Malekith suffered a crushing defeat, and he will likely remain inactive for a long time, refusing to take any further steps until he is sufficiently confident.
However, the Avengers couldn't spare enough power to start a war with the Dark Elves first. Asgard might have originally had the ability, but they needed a lot of time to recover after being severely damaged by Mangorg.
In other words, what Earth needs now is to build a defense against Malekith and his men.
"Another war."
Tony walked over to the captain: "Unlike Loki's war, this time it's really a war between civilizations, and Earth isn't even a participant. We might just be the battlefield."
"No matter who we are, the enemy is very clear: the invaders."
The captain looked at Tony, who smiled and said, "Yes, from this perspective, everything is quite simple."
It was at this moment that Odin, who had been looking at the sky, stood up.
“I’m very sorry, warriors like you deserve a grand feast at Valhalla, but Asgard doesn’t have the means to do so right now.” Odin walked up to the Avengers. “Even so, I still thank you, Avengers. Asgard has nothing to offer right now, all I can give is a promise that Asgard will not stand idly by when Earth needs help in the future.”
Of course, Odin wouldn't really give nothing at all, but there are many things that Earthlings wouldn't be able to use even if he gave them to them. For example, Uru alloy, a metal that needs to be forged in a furnace in the core of a star as a heat source. Odin could certainly produce it, but Earthlings couldn't process it.
He had decided to create a suit of armor for each Avenger using Uru alloy and Odin's omnipotent power, but it was still just an idea and not enough to be given to the Avengers as a reward, so Odin had not brought it up.
Of course, the Avengers didn't care about this, since they weren't there for the reward, but to protect their home.
only……
"These are Norn Stones, possessing the special ability to traverse dimensions. Given the powerful reality barriers in our universe, this is one of the few ways to leave our universe. Perhaps they will be useful to you. The Sorcerer Supreme should know how to use them."
Odin teleported several pieces of Norn Stone from the vault and handed them to the Avengers. Before anyone else could say anything, Strange nodded: "They're definitely useful. Much better than tearing a hole in the barrier of reality."
After Peter took a piece of Norn Stone, he looked at Odin with some curiosity: "Doesn't Asgard need it? After all, Malekith can interfere with the normal operation of the Rainbow Bridge."
"It's alright, I still have a score to settle with the Norns sisters, I'll just take some Nornstones while I'm at it."
Odin's tired appearance meant the Avengers didn't linger long, and they quickly returned to Earth. Iceman happily said goodbye to everyone and took a taxi from Avengers Tower back to the Academy. Watching him leave, Strange opened a Suspension Gate and returned to the Sanctum Sanctorum with the Chest of Winter.
"Is it just my imagination or is it true? I think this guy is taking an absurd amount of stuff into his house?"
Tony couldn't help but make a couple of sarcastic remarks about Strange, then turned back. For the citizens of New York, today was just another peaceful day.
They will never know what is happening to Asgard today.
"Without the Winter's Chest, Namor should be able to defeat the rebels and restore order to Atlantis soon."
Seemingly recalling the beginning of the whole incident, the captain couldn't help but sigh, "Hopefully, Namor will be a little... milder after this."
"I don't think it's possible. Our little prince of the deep sea will never be associated with the word 'gentle'—but we've saved the world again, haven't we?"
The captain didn't say anything; he felt that something was amiss.
In fact, the captain will soon learn one thing—the civil war in Atlantis will not end even without the Winter's Chest.
