Chapter 58 7:30: The Show Begins

“I’m special? Thank you for your appreciation, Mysterio, but unfortunately, my inbox is overflowing with club invitations.” Peter switched his webs to electric shock mode while talking to Mysterio: “How about you surrender now before anything happens? I know a sheriff who always keeps chocolate ice cream in his interrogation room fridge.”

"What I mean is, we're a lot like Spider-Man."

Spider-Man's mask transformed back into the shape of "oO" as he stared incredulously at Mysterio. He was genuinely terrified by Mysterio; what nonsense was this guy spouting?
“You’re different from other superheroes. You wear a mask and hide your identity. Just like me, I wear a mask and do these things.”

"Bank robbers wear masks too, you can't be saying bank robbers are just like us, can you?!"

After confirming the presence of Mysterio with his sonar, Parker immediately fired his electric webs, pulling Mysterio over before punching him in the fish tank. He expected to smash the fish tank head with one punch and end it all, but the result was unexpected—Peter knocked off Mysterio's entire head along with the fish tank from the sonar, and not only what he saw, but also what the sonar image showed.

Mysterio's large head fell off, and then he held his head in his hands, hovering in the air.

"Why not? Robbers only dare to rob banks after they put on masks, and you can only be your superhero when you're wearing a mask."

"Admit it, Spider-Man, you're just like me, we're afraid. When you're not wearing the mask, you're afraid of being a superhero, you're afraid of people criticizing you, afraid of the people who believe in you being disappointed in you, afraid of people placing too many expectations on you and you having nowhere to run."

One Mysterio after another appeared around Spider-Man, each holding up their head and attaching it to their neck.

"Are you talking about yourself, Quentin? I never knew you were a psychologist, but unfortunately, I didn't bring any consultation fees, so forget it!"

With a somersault, he landed on the building's exterior wall. Spider-Man shot out his webs once more, catching the one Mysterio among the countless others, and then yanked it hard, slamming it against the wall. Mysterio instantly shattered into pieces.

Spider-Man was certain he hadn't used much force. He looked at the still-dim sky, held a piece of Mysterio's wreckage in his hand, and felt the metal parts and wiring inside.

"Robots? You're not just using these robots to fight us while you hide safely on the sidelines, are you?"

"Of course not, Spider-Man. I told you, if you want to stop me, then I will definitely be stopped."

Mysterio reappeared behind Spider-Man, still rambling on and on.

"You may not admit it, Spider-Man, but I'm sure these sarcastic remarks of yours aren't coming from the person behind the mask. You and I are the same; only when we put on a mask can we unleash our true selves."

The illusory Mysterio in mid-air slightly raised his hand, and green smoke emerged from around Spider-Man, gradually transforming him into Mysterio's own appearance.

"Wow, Quentin—is this the way you make me feel like I'm doing things the same way?"

"Of course not, but that's what he'll think."

Mysterio's figure gradually disappeared, revealing Johnny Storm, who was getting up behind him, filled with rage. The Human Torch was furious because Mysterio had tricked him twice. At this moment, he saw Mysterio standing on the wall, and intense flames began to burn from his body.

Thunderbolt was instantly engulfed in flames.

"ignition!"

Spider-Man: oO?
"Hey, is it too late to apply to join the Arctic expedition team now?"

Meanwhile, in Central Park, Tony Stark, being relentlessly attacked by dozens of drones, raised his arms to withstand the barrage. Then, a powerful electromagnetic wave erupted from his Iron Man armor, paralyzing and knocking down all the surrounding drones. "How about paralyzing all these drones with EMP?"

The hallucinations have spread across the entire island of Manhattan, making it impossible to guarantee the normal operation of essential facilities such as hospitals.

"Then send out all the Iron Man suits to conduct sonar scans around Manhattan, build real-time models, and record these things along the way."

He picked up a drone and pulled out a delicate little ball from it.

"Jarvis, analyze this thing."

The device is modifying surrounding optical readings and is unable to perform a scan.

"Hank? Are you researching this... old equipment from a circus magician? Do you have any leads?"

“It’s hard to say, Tony. Based on the sample Spider-Man sent, these projectors shouldn’t have the ability to modify the scene anytime, anywhere. They can only project a fixed scene in advance. Quentin Baker must have modified it. He’s a genius.”

"You said the same thing about Ulysses Klaue's sonic gun last time," Tony couldn't help but mutter about Pym's genius-obsessed intellectualism, then gave the Avengers orders: "Hank, keep researching and find a way to disable this thing. Remember to close the lab door to prevent you from being affected. Captain, have Jarvis build you a pair of sonar goggles. Since these things rely on drones, the more drones you shoot down, the harder it is to maintain."

"And Little Bumblebee, you have the most crucial task."

Janet's voice came through the communicator: "What is it, Tony?"

"Well, let's eat and drink with Hulk, give him some chips and popcorn, and let him watch movies at home. Right now, the last thing we need is a naked big guy running around smashing things in Manhattan."

After assigning the mission, Iron Man looked at the image on the visor and prepared to take off, just as he received new intelligence from Jarvis.

[Sir, Spider-Man's side has received new intelligence: Mysterio has deployed a large number of high-tech humanoid robots in the operation.]

"Ah, it must be LMD from S.H.I.E.L.D. Jarvis. Remember to remind me to have the Disaster Control Agency ask Nick Fury for money."

[Furthermore, Spider-Man gets into a fight with Johnny Storm.]

"Susan's stupid brother? Let me guess, he got tricked by Mysterio. I'll go and calm him down."

Iron Man immediately took off and quickly approached the location Jarvis had indicated, but was hit by something halfway there and almost crashed again.

"what?"

[Mystery Maker's drone, sir. Due to the limitations of sonar imaging speed, it is recommended that you keep your flight speed below 288 km/h.]

"I've never driven my grandma's old car this slowly."

Iron Man, wobbling slightly, slowly took off and flew towards the battlefield.
