Chapter 43 Three Spiders in One Frame

Chapter 43 Three Spiders in One Frame (Not Really)
Cal King awkwardly mimicked Spider-Man's pose, swinging between buildings on his webs. His movements were clumsy yet powerful, and with each leap, one could feel the cold wind seeping through the gaps in his cheap cosplay costume.

The changes brought about by the devouring fascinated him—his mother's flesh and blood, the screams of the otaku in the comic book store, all transformed into power flowing through his veins. He could feel his muscles reorganizing, his bones stretching, and he could even decompose into a swarm of spiders at will, or twist into any face he had "digested".

At that moment, all that came to his mind was Peter Parker's hateful face.

That skinny Peter got so cocky after being bitten by the spider that he dared to defy me and make me live in fear.

"You think you can fight back after being bitten by a spider?" Karl grinned maliciously, clutching the spider silk tightly, his cheap uniform fluttering in the wind. His father was right, the law of the jungle is the only truth—those short guys are born to be stepping stones for the strong.

"It's time to show you who's in charge, Parker."

So this clumsy Spider-Man began to wander, suddenly turning around high in the sky, his scarlet goggles reflecting another drifting figure in the distance—ah, what an obvious target.

Found you, Parker!
"We've found Spider-Man!"

Inside the secret van on the other side, Quentin Baker discovered Spider-Man rushing back, but something seemed off: "This Spider-Man seems a bit off; his suit has reverted to the old version."

Quentin, sensing something was amiss, became confused, while the chameleon only asked one question.

"Does Spider-Man swing in the sky or run on the ground?"

"Floating in the sky..."

“That’s him, he just changed back into his suit.” Chameleon didn’t seem to care. “Probably to distinguish me from him. After all, we’re wearing his new suit and impersonating him, so he needs to differentiate us. But it doesn’t matter, Spider-Man will soon be falling into the abyss of death. Set up the projector, Baker, let’s get to work.”

As Chameleon spoke, he picked up his pistol. This time, he was going to take down Spider-Man once and for all.

Kal-King landed quickly and looked at the fake Spider-Man in front of him. At this moment, he still didn't realize that the Spider-Man in front of him wasn't the real one. On the contrary, what was originally just a projection had been filled in by the chameleon to allow for interaction, and the Spider-Man now appearing was actually the chameleon in disguise.

"Another imposter?" Spider-Man exclaimed, looking at Cal King, then made a facepalm gesture. "My God, I mean, hey buddy, are you done messing around? You know I'm the real Spider-Man."

"You? You're nothing but a complete bastard!"

Cal King clenched his fist and charged at Chameleon. Chameleon laughed, instantly pulled out a pistol, and fired a shot into Spider-Man's head. The bullet pierced Spider-Man's skull with pinpoint accuracy. Then, Chameleon deactivated the projector, maintaining Spider-Man's appearance and tone, and said, "Sorry, man, it's all over. Kingpin's plan was completely unnecessary."

"It's time for everything to end!"

The sudden roar interrupted the chameleon. The chameleon turned its head and saw Spider-Man's suit rapidly collapsing, from which countless spiders emerged and quickly crawled towards it. After less than 0.1 seconds of thought, it immediately chose to run away, its eyes filled with extreme terror.

Damn it, why didn't anyone tell him that this is what Spider-Man is?
After chasing for a while, Carl King realized that the spiders were indeed slower than humans, so the spider swarm once again filled the cheap costume, reverted to human form, and began to chase the chameleon while swinging on its webs.

"What are you running away from, huh? Aren't you Spider-Man? Why are you running away? Hahahaha!" Karl King shouted arrogantly as he chased after the chameleon. The chameleon reacted quickly and immediately darted into a construction site. There was no one there, but several hundred kilograms of explosives were buried inside.

"Hey, damn detective, are you ready with your explosives? You have absolutely no idea what Spider-Man is all about."

Panting, Chameleon arrived at the ambush site and couldn't help but ask. McDonald sneered. He had told Chameleon that Spider-Man would come, but Chameleon wouldn't listen. Now look what happened, this guy's in big trouble!

"I've been prepared for this for a long time. You'd better run away quickly, or you'll die right in front of me."

The chameleon rested for a bit, found his prepared escape spot, and watched Spider-Man swing in. For some reason, the spider monster in front of him gave him a very strange feeling, but it didn't matter.

It must die here today.

"Why aren't you running anymore, Spider-Man? Do you know you're going to die anyway?"

"What? Certain death?" Chameleon felt more excited playing Spider-Man than ever before. He leaped behind him, his wingsuit deploying for gliding: "That's for you, baby!"

A violent explosion instantly engulfed the entire building. First, the gas pipes in the basement burst into blue flames, then the supporting beams snapped like dominoes. Each floor rapidly exploded, burned, and collapsed, sending up massive plumes of smoke that swallowed Carl's laughter and obscured almost half the sky. The thirty-story building, carrying tons of steel reinforcement, crashed down, slamming into Spider-Man and burying him completely. Having accomplished all this, the chameleon, gliding through the sky, couldn't help but laugh heartily.

"I did it! I did it—"

A specially designed bullet, accompanied by a gunshot, struck the chameleon in the sky. The unfortunate creature plummeted from the heavens, crashing heavily against the edge of the ruins.

It was only at this moment that Spider-Man finally arrived and landed beside the Punisher. Peter saw the dust rising from a great distance and couldn't understand how things had gotten like this before he even got there.

"Uh... what happened? How did it get like this?"

If he hadn't received a call beforehand, the Punisher would have thought that the large group of spiders were really Spider-Man. He glanced at the latter indifferently and spoke casually.

“You should go down and see for yourself. Another freak has appeared that imitates you, and this time, it’s a whole bunch of spiders imitating you.”

Completely unable to understand what the Punisher was saying, Spider-Man once again used the movable eye function of his new mask to vividly display a "What nonsense are you talking about?" expression.

On the ruins, Chameleon, still disguised as Spider-Man, struggled to his feet. Luckily, the shot missed, and his suit of armor provided some protection, so he actually survived. He couldn't help but cough up blood and staggered away.

Damn it, I have to find a safe house before Frank Cassel finds me...

He heard a rustling sound, and the chameleon turned his head to look. He saw a large group of spiders crawling out of the ruins of the building and slowly merging into a human shape.
