Chapter 8 Review
No matter what happened at the scene, it had nothing to do with him, and he was eventually taken back to the West Canyon Police Station by Daves, whose face couldn't be seen even if it was very sour.

Back at the West Canyon Police Station, the relevant departments there had already received the news. Because of the suspected shooting and the death of the suspect, Eric had to go through all the inspections before he could be released.

An office.

Under the watchful eye of Internal Affairs Inspector Robert from the West Canyon Police Station, Eric returned all his belongings.

Magazines, recorders, walkie-talkies, police knives, handcuffs, sprays and other personal equipment.

Robert, who was standing by, watched Eric put everything on the plate on the table, and then picked up some documents on the table and handed them over.

"You should be familiar with the process, so I don't need to explain it further, right?"

Eric shook his head, took the written report he was to write, sat down and started writing.

"I'll come back later." Robert shrugged and left the office.

Eric glanced at the closed front door and didn't feel nervous at all.

The Department of Internal Affairs has considerable power within the Los Angeles Police Department and is an independent department outside the police system.

Because it is for internal use, not external use.

The primary responsibility is to manage the internal discipline, supervision, and compliance affairs of the Los Angeles Police Department, ensuring that members of the Los Angeles Police Department comply with laws, regulations, and ethical standards to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the police force.

Generally speaking, when a detective or patrolman shoots someone or something involving the law occurs, the investigation work will basically be taken over by people from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to determine whether the person involved has violated the rules of the police station or committed any illegal acts.

Because of its nature, the people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs are basically lone wolves, and no one likes the people who work there.

He has some issues, but he likes to hang out with these people with issues, because in a sense, these people who are more "rules-abiding" and have issues are easier to get along with.

For example, Robert, the clean baby in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, if you have not violated any rules, he will never target you but will handle the matter impartially.

What about him?

Naturally, the entire process is legal and compliant.

Eric silently glanced at the written report on the desk. He had studied it carefully.
After the inspection, Eric picked up a pen and started writing, honestly explaining the entire process.

For example, the time when he received the police report, the time, place, and process of the incident, the basic information of the people involved, and any possible eyewitness evidence, etc.

So the beginning of his account was that he received a police report, arrived at the scene, and then received information from the dispatch center that the suspect was armed with heavy weapons and had injured civilians and police officers.

After arriving at the scene, he saw exactly what the dispatch center had described. After issuing a warning, he saw the suspect had the intention to attack and then fired back.
Eric looked calm as he described in detail what had happened and all his actions.

The recorder clearly recorded that the suspect did shoot him first. This alone was enough to prove that his actions were completely correct and in accordance with procedures.

"."

"This was not my intention, but the situation at the scene was critical. The person who called the police and my colleagues were injured by him. I just wanted to stop his dangerous behavior, but unfortunately, his behavior forced me to take action." Eric sat at a desk, looking at Robert, an internal affairs inspector, and Daves, his commander on duty, and said solemnly.

"Sir, this is not the result I wanted! Really, I'm heartbroken!"

Robert and Daves looked at each other, their expressions were quite serious, but the slight twitching at the corners of their eyes meant that they were not as calm as they seemed. Perhaps at the same moment, they looked at Eric and reached a consensus in their hearts.

Damn it! Who are you acting for?

But due to the occasion, Robert picked up the written report written by Eric on the table and symbolically glanced at it.

During this time, he already knew all the details of the case and knew that Eric's actions were legal and compliant.

"You are a second-level police officer and know that the use of lethal weapons requires extreme caution. Didn't you consider other non-lethal means at the time? For example, shooting his arms or legs?" Robert took the written report and looked at Eric, who had a sad face, with a secret curl of his lips.

"Sir, the situation was extremely critical. The suspect was still shooting even after injuring someone. He was armed with an HK416 automatic rifle, which had a very strong firepower. He also had the intention to attack.

If I had touched his non-lethal parts, I might not have been able to stop his dangerous behavior immediately, and he might have killed me or continued to hurt more people.

I can only make the choices I believe are best based on my training and responsibilities."

After saying this, even Robert felt that he was finding fault with it. He looked at Eric in front of him and sighed inwardly. This guy had become more and more adept from the initial stiffness to now.

Although it feels like this guy did it on purpose, all his actions are legal and compliant, and there is no way to fight back.

Thinking of this, Robert and the duty commander Daves beside him nodded, and then continued.

"Officer Eric, we will conduct a detailed on-site investigation and collect evidence. We will also review the surveillance footage to confirm the truth of your statement. Do you understand?"

Eric said sadly, "I understand, Commander. I am willing to accept any investigation. Please believe that my only concern at the time was to stop the bandit as quickly as possible and protect the safety of myself and the innocent people."

Robert nodded expressionlessly. "Alright, we'll complete the investigation as quickly as possible, conduct a fair and objective assessment of your actions, and issue a just outcome. But until the review is complete, you must temporarily cease work and ensure you cooperate with our subsequent investigation at all times."

Eric stood up and said seriously, "Yes, sir! I will cooperate fully. I just hope this incident can be properly handled as soon as possible."

The voice was so loud that it seemed as if he was declaring that he had a clear conscience.

Robert was fine, but Daves secretly glared at Eric.

Eric pretended not to notice. Daves's face twitched, and his already dark face became even darker.

Robert could also sense something was wrong with Daves beside him, but he pretended not to notice and continued speaking in a businesslike manner:
"Officer Eric, we still need to conduct a psychological evaluation on you. After experiencing such an incident, you may feel some psychological stress, and we need to ensure that you are able to continue to be competent for this job.

Eric still had that sad but serious expression on his face and said, "I understand, but I really hope this incident won't affect my career."

It seemed like Eric had experienced similar situations too many times, and he began to feel a little guilty.
