Chapter 124 Weird
Pei Ju was walking in the darkness with a lamp in his hand when finally he saw a bright light.

As you get closer, you can see more clearly that the bright light is actually a cluster of flames, and there are some people sitting around it, while something is being roasted on the fire.

He walked quickly over, because after walking in the dark for so long, even though he knew that seeing people would be dangerous, he still couldn't help but walk quickly over.

When he emerged from the darkness, the people sitting by the fire watched him.

He also realized that these people all looked like savages.

His clothes were worn and tattered, and his hair was messy and tied up haphazardly.

The shoes on their feet were made of some kind of leather, and some of them had holes in them, exposing their toes.

One of the older boys sat at the very back, facing out of the cave, while on either side were three boys and a girl, all of whom looked dirty.

One of the boys grinned when he saw Pei Ju, revealing sharp, yellowish-black teeth.

This made Pei Ju frown. Just as he was about to speak, another boy said, "Senior brother, you've come back to life."

Pei Ju was startled, thinking, "I really am their senior brother."

"Sit down," the older man said.

The older man was relatively cleaner. Although his clothes were old, they had no holes. Although his hair was gray and dry, it was combed and tied up with a black ribbon.

His face was long and thin, and the black pupils in his triangular eyes gave him an eerie and dangerous feeling.

Even though it was just a glance, Pei Ju felt as if the other person had seen through his body to his soul.

After the master said "sit," the three boys and one girl immediately moved back to make room for each other.

He sat down.

His stomach suddenly started growling, and at that moment he could clearly smell the aroma of meat. He couldn't help but look at the meat skewered on the fire.

He looked at it, but couldn't immediately recognize what kind of meat it was.

"This is my second senior brother," the girl said.

"Second Senior Brother?" Pei Ju asked with some confusion.

"Oh, Senior Brother, you forget everything that happened before each time you live. Second Senior Brother has been possessed by the Night Demon and wants to harm us, so Master had no choice but to kill him. Originally, he was going to refine pills."

Pei Ju felt a chill run down his spine as he watched the girl talking while tearing at her flesh.

"Eat," the master said coldly.

Pei Ju could already sense the danger in his eyes, as if he would become his enemy if he didn't eat.

Pei Ju couldn't possibly eat it. Instead of reaching out to take it, he drew his long sword from his waist.

"choke!"

The sword was drawn, and with a sweeping horizontal motion, a crescent-shaped sword light was created. The sword light was actually red, as if it had drunk too much blood, and the sword itself was blood-red.

The moment the sword flashed, the flames went out instantly, and the people around the flames disappeared into the darkness.

But at that moment, it was as if he had just woken up from a dream, his mind jolted, as if a veil had been torn open. He realized that it had all been an illusion, and yet he was still looking down at the floor beneath the bed.

His head was lowered very low, as if he was about to reach under the bed. He wasn't lying down, but rather hunched over, looking down at the bed in a strange posture.

Underneath the bed, there was only darkness.

He immediately got up.

Then I was covered in sweat, feeling weak and dazed.

It seemed like he was hungry, or perhaps he was frightened by the hallucination he had just experienced.

He then looked at the talisman with words written on it at the foot of the bed. It said, "Don't look under the bed."

He slowly left the bedside, went to the lamp stand, picked up the sword again, and came back to the bedside, bending down.

Pei Ju sometimes just doesn't believe in fate. People from Xijiang have a kind of "brute force" in their character. They can be hardworking workers in normal times, but in certain situations, they can quickly turn into the kind of "barbarians" who are willing to fight to the death.

He bent down, lowered his head, and placed the lamp under the bed. He wanted to see clearly what was under the bed.

Under the light, he bent down to look and saw a desiccated corpse lying under the bed. When Pei Ju looked over, he turned his head to meet the other's gaze, but the other's eyes had no eyeballs, only two empty eye sockets. For some reason, seeing those two empty eye sockets made him feel a chill down his spine.

There was a body under the bed.

This was terrible! He immediately reached in and pulled it out.

It was a desiccated corpse. After pulling it out, he saw that there was a talisman stuck to the person's forehead, which read: "After he dies, I will be reborn."

Pei Ju was puzzled.

Who dies and who is reborn?
He turned the mummified body over, trying to find anything on it that could prove the person's identity, but he found nothing.

After circling around the cave a few more times, I arrived at the entrance, only to be met with endless darkness, a suffocating darkness.

He decided to go out again to see if he would run into that group of people roasting meat around the fire.

So he took the lamp and the sword and went out of the cave.

There was no wind outside the cave, but the air wasn't stuffy. So he went outside and walked into the darkness. It was hard to tell time in the darkness, but he felt he had walked for at least ten minutes. Finally, he saw a ball of fire again, and this time, he slowly approached it.

But as soon as he got close, he was discovered by the people inside, since he was holding a lamp, and the light could not be hidden in the darkness.

That's why he was spotted as soon as he appeared, and the people around the fire waved to him.

He stood there without moving, because what he saw were the same people he had seen in his hallucination when he looked under the bed.

He couldn't help but wonder, was this real or an illusion? If it was an illusion, then when had he fallen under its spell?
"Senior Brother, come here quickly!"

"We've hunted a wild deer, it's delicious, come and eat!"

The girl was still the one who shouted, while everyone else kept their heads down, gnawing on their meat, but their eyes were fixed on him.

There was not a trace of human emotion in those eyes.
