Chapter 105 New Job

Chapter 105 New Job
As soon as he arrived, Yan Hui showed his cousin what the professionalism of Fengtian timber merchants was like.

Regardless of whether he is a timber merchant or not, Yan Hui's insight alone is enough to make him a success in the Jianye market.

"I once heard a story about the great poet Bai Juyi going to Chang'an. I forget his name, but someone mocked him, saying that prices in Chang'an were too high and it would be difficult to stay for free. But then he saw Bai Juyi's poem and that poem... well, basically, with that poem, it's easy to stay anywhere for free. Just from that one point you just mentioned, I know you're cut out to be in the timber business." My cousin thought Yan Hui was really impressive.

"No way, technology is constantly advancing. When I visited my fourth uncle's house for the New Year this year, he told me that his equipment wasn't exactly new. So I think we still need to keep learning." Yan Hui didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.

"Okay, you're good." When my cousin saw how tidy Yan Hui's room was this afternoon, he knew that Yan Hui was a serious person, and now he was even more convinced.

“Brother, we’re on the same side, but I still want to say something. Your price of 970 is really a bit expensive. Next time you order, I can help you negotiate the price. If your general contractor, the one who contracts the railcars, insists on this price, then I’ll introduce him to a source of goods from Northeast China,” Yan Hui added.

“Okay, I’ll let you know in advance if there are any big deals involving more than five parties in the future.” My cousin nodded immediately.

"Okay, let's split the money we save."

"No problem. By the way, you should hurry up and buy a pager. I'm not always in the store, and you can't always be in front of me. It will be convenient for me to contact you whenever I need to."

"Okay, I'll buy it right away." Yan Hui also felt that he needed to buy one.

Do you have money? If not, I can lend you some.

"I still have money on me, I still have ten thousand." Yan Hui didn't want his cousin to worry about him.

"Okay, that's enough. Look at my purchase, this batch is 10 cubic meters, which is only 9700. You usually run a small business, and 10,000 is definitely enough. Just don't stock up. There's no rush. You can learn from me slowly. You definitely don't have enough experience in this area."

"Uh-huh."

Next, Yan Hui talked about the situation of pagers at Jianye.

Yan Hui can now buy a pager for just over 1000 yuan, which can receive paging messages throughout the entire Jianye City area.

There's no need to trouble my cousin with such a small matter; Yan Hui plans to buy it himself tomorrow.

While they were chatting, his cousin's pager went off. He immediately knew what was going on and called Yan Hui out of the room.

"This is Brother Lü," his cousin said, leading Yan Hui to the timber pile and introducing him to someone.

"Hello, Brother Lü." Yan Hui greeted him warmly and went up to shake hands.

"Brother Lü is very well-connected in this area, and he's a really nice guy. Tonight, he helped us transport all the timber. Five truckloads in total, two cubic meters per truck." My cousin then briefly introduced Yan Hui.

It was just a routine task of moving wood, without much chatter. My cousin handed over the wages to Brother Lü, and Brother Lü immediately told the workers to get to work.

There were ten people in total. Moving ten cubic meters of wood was not difficult, and they loaded it all onto the truck in less than half an hour. My cousin then led the convoy out.

Although it was already evening, the market was still bustling with people, and the carts coming and going were like two rivers flowing in opposite directions.

The carts followed my cousin out of the market and headed straight for a nearby construction site. This time, there were no trucks to transport them; the carts just moved slowly. After about an hour, the five carts arrived at the construction site entrance, by which time it was completely dark.

My cousin contacted the security guard at the gate, and within ten minutes someone came out. This person coordinated with my cousin and allowed the vehicles to enter the construction site.

Yan Hui didn't participate in the specific transaction process; such matters were quite private, and he didn't want to ask his cousin how much he had earned. He waited outside until his cousin finished everything, then followed him home.

"Come on, I'll treat you tonight. There's a shop there that makes really delicious duck fat pastries." His cousin beckoned Yan Hui and led him in one direction.

"Is everything settled? Do we just leave those carts alone?"

"Yes, the money was paid in full, no trouble at all. If you need a car here in the future, just look for Brother Lü, he's quite law-abiding." My cousin then went on to tell me about some fights that happened among the movers here.

“For bosses, as long as it’s convenient, it doesn’t matter who does the work here.” Yan Hui nodded slightly.

My cousin agreed wholeheartedly. By this time, the two had walked some distance together. My cousin took out 200 yuan and handed it to Yan Hui: "This is your share of today's order."

"Huh? I didn't do anything." Yan Hui definitely didn't want the money.

"You've been following along from beginning to end, haven't you?" My cousin then handed over the money.

"Is this considered following from beginning to end?" Yan Hui was a little puzzled. After thinking for a moment, he said, "This has nothing to do with me. I'd be happy to treat you to some duck oil pastry."

Yan Hui would definitely not take the money. He would take it whenever he made any contribution, but what does this have to do with him?
After several attempts to refuse, Yan Hui ultimately did not accept the money.

Helpless, my cousin ordered a Jianye roast duck for dinner that night as a welcome-back dinner for Yan Hui.

"The salted duck here is also very good. I'll take you to eat it in a few days," the cousin said, wrapping up another roll for Yan Hui.

"I'll treat you next time. I can't always let you treat me."

“You’ve gone to all this trouble to come to Jianye with me, why are you being so polite? I can’t afford to treat you to a meal! When my friend comes in a few days, I’ll take you to see the world!” My cousin said this with great conviction.

My cousin seems to love showing off, just like Yan Hui. Yan Hui does the same thing in front of his sister.

Thinking of this, Yan Hui felt relieved. Once he made money in Jianye, he would take his family to see the world when they came to visit!

After eating and drinking his fill, Yan Hui returned to his cousin's place, where his cousin showed him his motorcycle.

"Jianye is a strict place, so you'd better try not to ride this thing," my cousin advised.

"It's okay, the buses are convenient here, I'll just take the bus."

"Yeah, it's okay to ride it secretly."

"Brother, what are your plans for tomorrow? Any business? Do you need me to come to the store to help you out?"

“I hadn’t thought of this before. I felt that this was a job that most people couldn’t handle. Here’s what we’ll do: whenever you have free time, you can sit in the shop for a while and talk to customers when they come in. You know how to do it anyway. Get a pager later, and call me when you have a customer you can talk to. If you have something to do, you can just go out, lock the door, and leave. My pager is at the door anyway.” My cousin came up with a solution.

Having Yan Hui there is definitely better than having no one at all.

"No problem, this way I'll have something to do and I'll have a lot of freedom."
