Journey 1995:Non-Stop

Chapter 103 Jianye

Chapter 103 Jianye
An outsider's perspective is often clearer; the cousin could see Yan Hui's feelings for Liu Yu.

A young man's first love is the purest.

"That's good, it's best it hasn't started yet. This woman might not be a good thing even if she's with you." My cousin is a sensible man.

For someone as important as Yan Hui, Yan Hui saw through him with just a small amount of money. From a businessman's perspective, this deal was extremely worthwhile.

"Of course I know. But I'm really fine. If I were that kind of person, I should have broken up with the second brother when he proposed." Yan Hui laughed.

"Now that you say that, I'm completely relieved." My cousin stood up, ready to leave.

"Brother, anyway, thank you so much." Yan Hui stood up and hugged his cousin.

"Hey, hey, hey, we brothers don't need to cry," the cousin hugged Yan Hui, and after they separated, he noticed that Yan Hui wasn't crying, so he patted Yan Hui's shoulder again.

This year's Lunar New Year celebrations have essentially come to an end.

The next moment, Yan Hui followed his cousin, said goodbye to his grandparents, and embarked on his journey to Jianye.

Jianye is the ancient name; later generations prefer to call it Jinling.

Yan Hui prefers the name Jianye.

Because he was traveling with his cousin, Yan Hui also bought a sleeper ticket. He boarded the train in the afternoon, slept for a night, and when he woke up the next morning, the train had already arrived.

"Get out of the car," the cousin said, in a good mood, gesturing for Yan Hui to get out.

"Wow, that was fast! I arrived after just one nap." Yan Hui suddenly felt a strong liking for Jianye.

Although Yan Hui was able to endure hardship, no one was willing to. Every time he returned home from Fengtian, the journey was quite arduous.

This time it's really different, only a third of the distance, I can get there in one nap!

Moreover, although it's the first month of the lunar calendar, it's not cold at all!

In the morning, the temperature was around five or six degrees Celsius. My cousin was freezing, but Yan Hui didn't feel cold at all. After all, at this time, the temperature in Fengtian was probably below -20 degrees Celsius.

Jianye Station is very large. After exiting the station, there is a bustling square outside. The train station has a large glass curtain wall with a large clock on it, which looks very modern.

It was very lively here, and there was a sign at the entrance that read "Congratulations on the opening of the tunnel." Yan Hui was standing too far away to see it clearly.

"Let's take a taxi, I'll show you something you've never seen before." My cousin, carrying a bag, led Yan Hui to the train station entrance and hailed an Alto taxi.

“The starting fare is 11 yuan,” the driver said.

"An Alto costs 6 yuan, a Xiali costs 7 yuan, what are you talking about? Do you think I'm from out of town?" my cousin retorted.

"Oh, six yuan it is then." The driver didn't seem embarrassed at all.

"Get in the car," his cousin said, gesturing for Yan Hui to get in.

"Where to?" the driver asked after we got in the car.

"Over there at Zhonghua Gate," my cousin said.

"Zhonghua Gate, okay." The driver started the car.

“Wait a minute,” my cousin added, “it’s about 11 kilometers from here to Zhonghua Gate. If you take a detour, I won’t pay you extra.”

"Are you going to stay or not?" the driver asked impatiently. "You should take the next car."

“Don’t rush,” my cousin pointed to the west. “This is my brother’s first time with me, so I’ll show him something fun! It’s about five kilometers from here to the bridge, right? You can show us the bridge first, and then we can go to Zhonghua Gate. That’s about 20 kilometers, isn’t it? Let’s go.”

“Okay.” The driver thought it was suitable, turned the car around, and headed straight for the Yangtze River Bridge. For someone seeing the Jianye Yangtze River Bridge for the first time, it was simply breathtaking. Although it was just a bridge, standing on one side, the bridge piers seemed to reach into the clouds, making the entire bridge look quite magnificent.

Yan Hui also saw the words "Long live the great unity of all ethnic groups in the country!" written on one side of the bridge pier.

"Alright, we've finished watching, let's go." My cousin glanced at his watch.

"Yeah!" Yan Hui thought his cousin was a really good friend.

I specifically took a taxi to come and broaden my horizons!
After getting in the car, the two arrived near Zhonghua Gate about half an hour later.

There's a dedicated timber production line here, and my cousin lives nearby. Yan Hui first followed my cousin to his place.

My cousin lives in an apartment building. He rents a two-bedroom apartment, one of which is filled with a lot of clutter, including some pieces of wood.

"You can tidy up this room, and throw away any useless wood. This place is yours to use," my cousin said.

"Brother, did you rent or buy this?"

"It's rented. How could I afford to buy? The rent here is cheap, only four hundred yuan a month."

“Okay, I’ll give you 200 a month from now on.” Yan Hui nodded and took out 200 yuan from his pocket.

He still has about 33,000 yuan on hand.

"No need, just make do with me for now. I have a feeling you'll be living on your own soon," my cousin said with a smile. "Wait, I'll introduce you to someone."

“That won’t do,” Yan Hui felt that one thing at a time. “If it’s your own house, then I’ll feel comfortable doing it. But if you also pay rent, then as long as I live here, I’ll split it in half. We’ll talk about it again when I’m no longer living here.”

Yan Hui was adamant, so his cousin had no choice but to agree, taking the money from Yan Hui and casually putting it in his pocket.

"You get ready first, I'm going to my shop and I'll be back in a bit. Once you're done, we'll go eat."

"it is good."

Before leaving, my cousin gave Yan Hui a key, explained the situation at home, and then went out.

Fortunately, it was winter, so the house wasn't damp. Yan Hui tidied up the house a bit and went out to throw out the trash three or four times. The house was finally much more comfortable.

Yan Hui has always been very careful about tidying up his house; he has always had a good habit of keeping things clean and tidy.

Yan Hui put some things together that he wasn't sure whether to throw away, and left the rest, which could be sold as scrap, by the door.

Yan Hui tidied up for three hours straight, but his cousin still hadn't returned. He wasn't very hungry; he'd eaten sweet potato pancakes on the train that morning. Since his cousin wasn't back, Yan Hui continued tidying, even cleaning up his cousin's room as well.

Next came the kitchen and the toilet; I had to throw out the trash about ten times.

To be fair, my cousin wasn't particularly unhygienic, but when a man lives alone in a two-bedroom apartment, over time it accumulates a lot of useless clutter, especially some wood samples, some of which are damp and moldy, and have long since lost their value.

If someone were a complete novice, like a domestic worker, they wouldn't dare throw away any piece of wood. Yan Hui wasn't worried at all, because he knew these methods were truly useless.

The samples of long-haired wood are all from at least last year; now, they can only be thrown away or used for firewood.

My cousin didn't get home until after 3 PM. He didn't notice anything unusual when he first entered the house, but after taking a closer look, he was completely stunned: "You have such skills! How...how did you clean it so thoroughly?"

"It was just a small thing," Yan Hui said, quite satisfied.

In any case, the start of the trip to Jianye was much better than that in Fengtian.
