Game of Thrones: I am Dothraki, not a barbarian
Chapter 50: Evil Dragon
Chapter 50: Evil Dragon
Mace didn't know how to answer, but he heard hurried footsteps coming from outside the hall.
A squire rushed in, sweating. "My Lady! My Lord! The Long Table Hall has been attacked by the Dothraki!"
The hall suddenly became silent.
Mace's whole body trembled violently, and he muttered, "Long Table Hall? This is impossible..."
The attendant swallowed his saliva, with a look of shock on his face:
"Lord Orton was killed, and they also stole the 200,000 gold dragons that Highgarden was sending to King's Landing!"
Mace's face turned pale. "How could they possibly capture the Long Table Hall in such a short time? The defenses there would definitely last for days!"
Margery clutched the corner of her clothes tightly, her heart filled with turmoil.
That horse king was even more powerful than what she had heard from other people in the past few days.
He was a man that even my grandmother couldn't control, and now he was turning the entire Reach upside down. If he broke into Highgarden, would he kill me or take me away as a slave?
The squire explained cautiously, "King Robert is about to hold a tourney. King's Landing has tightened its defenses. The River Mander has been blocked, and all the ships are stuck in the Hall of the Long Table. The city is thronged with people, and even the gates cannot be closed. The Dothraki will easily be able to rush in..."
Hearing this, Olenna frowned. "What a bunch of idiots! Who came up with this stupid idea? Without the food from the Reach, the people in King's Landing won't have to eat!"
"They are vassals of House Renly. They even clashed with our people in an attempt to block the Mander River."
"Where are the Renlys now?"
"All dead! Killed by the Dothraki!"
"Renly..."
Donal Noye, the blacksmith of Castle Black, was once the blacksmith of the Baratheon family. He forged King Robert's warhammer. He once used metal to describe the character of the three Baratheon brothers.
Robert is real steel, tough and powerful; Stannis is pig iron, hard but easily broken; Renly is bright copper, shiny and beautiful, but without any real ability.
Renly may just be being used by the enemy to weaken the power of the Tyrell family and to sow discord between the two sides.
The blockade of the Mander, the fall of the Long Table, and even the Dothraki attack on the Reach—there were just too many coincidences.
There must be someone manipulating this behind the scenes, but it is still unclear who it is and who is the biggest beneficiary?
She pondered for a moment and hummed softly, "We must thoroughly investigate the situation on the Mande River and not miss any clues."
She turned to Margaery again, her tone finally softening. "Margaery, write to Renly immediately. Make sure he believes that the Tyrells are still his most reliable allies. If he truly intends to marry you, have him declare his intentions as soon as possible."
"Yes, grandmother."
At this moment, Margaery felt a trace of inexplicable disgust in her heart. Her brother Loras and Renly were obviously a couple, but the whole family pretended not to see it.
The Tyrell family is one of the few big families in Westeros, but they are willing to sacrifice their brother and sister for Renly.
However, personal interests have to take a back seat before family interests.
...
The woods were shrouded in the morning mist, and occasionally a hunting dog would bark, startling the birds into flight.
King Robert rode a black warhorse up a hill, then pulled the reins and looked back at Eddard Stark.
"Ned, don't beat around the bush with these tourney stories. They're so boring!"
Robert waved his hand impatiently. "Those bureaucrats in King's Landing are either idiots or sycophants!"
He waved the spear in his hand and laughed, "It's been a long time since I went out hunting like a real man. It feels so damn good!" Ned was wearing dark gray leather armor and had a stern face. He seemed to be in two different worlds from those gorgeously dressed servants, and he was out of tune with this vibrant royal guard.
"Your Majesty, governing the Seven Kingdoms is not like hunting. You can't just go by your own preferences!"
"Bullshit!" Robert said in a gruff voice. "The Seven Kingdoms are like a crumbling house, ready to be crushed to dust at any moment. Hunting is a man's job!"
He said excitedly, "Today I will hunt a stag or a wild boar, and at night I will find a farmer's daughter or a tavern maid to warm our beds, and then we can have a good sleep!"
Ned frowned and was silent for a while. Finally, he couldn't help but speak: "Your Majesty, we have responsibilities, not only to the kingdom, but also to our children. You can't always avoid these things."
Robert seemed to have thought of something, and his eyes suddenly turned cold.
"What the hell happened to those dragon remnants hiding across the narrow sea? Those damn bastards!"
"Daenerys married a Dothraki horse king named Rhaelor."
"Dothraki!"
Robert's face darkened. "A bunch of horse-riding beasts! They only know how to eat raw meat and drink blood, burn, kill, and plunder. They are even more disgusting than the Targaryens!"
However, I am more worried about the remnants of the evil dragon than those barbarians!
Anyone who brings those two Targaryens' heads to King's Landing will be rewarded with a knighthood and a castle!"
"Your fears are unfounded, my lord. I will only fear the day the Dothraki teach their horses to walk on water."
Ned knew that Robert's hatred for the Targaryens was deep in his bones.
Rhaegar stole Robert's fiancée, his sister, Lyanna Stark.
This action caused five of the Seven Kingdoms to break with the Targaryens and directly triggered the war.
Afterwards, Tywin Lannister and Grand Maester Pycelle worked together to take advantage of Mad King Aerys' trust in Tywin to trick the gates of King's Landing open, kill Rhaegar's wife and two children, and even wrap the children's bloody bodies in red cloth and present them to Robert.
When Robert came to King's Landing, he actually accepted all of this with pleasure. Ned would never forget that scene.
He denounced Tywin as a butcher and executioner who murdered babies, but Robert saw it as the necessary price of war.
Those princes, princesses, and babies still in swaddling clothes are all the evil offspring of the dragon and deserve to be killed!
At the small council, not even Jon Arryn could persuade Robert to change his mind.
It was also on that day that he angrily left King's Landing, and he did not reconcile with Robert until Lyanna's death.
But today, he had to ask the same question again.
"Your Majesty, you don't intend to do what Tywin did to the two Targaryen children?"
Robert's expression suddenly changed, becoming ferocious, and his voice suddenly rose:
"She'll bear that savage a child! The dragon's offspring must not remain in the world! I will kill every Targaryen, kill them all, and urinate on their graves!"
He was so excited that the warhorse under him started neighing restlessly and spinning on the spot. He pulled the reins hard to calm the horse down.
Ned was about to say something else when he heard the sound of hurried horse hooves from the woods. A cavalryman came galloping over with an anxious look on his face.
"Your Majesty! Urgent military report!"
