Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 45: Flitwick's Heartbeat

Chapter 45: Flitwick's Heartbeat
Xi Lun sincerely felt that staying in school to celebrate the holiday was an extremely correct decision.

It was as if the troll knew that today was Christmas and gave him a little surprise before the night fell.

The fusion spell lost its effect, which also meant that the troll spine had truly become a qualified wand core.

Although it still looks a bit big, it doesn't matter. Xi Lun had thought of this situation a long time ago and specially prepared a stick body that is more than two feet long, just the same as the stick core.
I thought I would need to change it again, but now it is not necessary.

Next it’s time to actually make the wand.

But it was too late today. At Hagrid's request, Xi Lun could only forcibly hold back his restless hand and left the cabin, looking back every few steps.

Hagrid walked Siren out the door.

He didn't mind Xiren staying. After all, the sound Xiren made when making the wand was not as loud as Yaya's snoring, and it would not affect him at all.

But Professor McGonagall would check the dormitories at night.

There was no such rule before, but this year is a special case. After all, there are two Weasleys among those who stay in school, so Professor McGonagall has to be more careful.

However, seeing Xi Lun's reluctance to leave, Hagrid hesitated and turned to look into the house.

A few minutes later, he put on his moleskin coat and hurried out.

Dinner was turkey sandwiches on toast with cranberry jam, which was delicious and everyone enjoyed it very much.

Only Xi Lun's mind was full of the staff body and core he had already made, and he didn't care at all what he ate.

In the teacher's seat, Dumbledore was fiddling with a brown wand in his hand, looking at it over and over again, while Professor McGonagall was laughing happily beside him.

"I tried it, it's really great," Professor McGonagall couldn't help but glance at Xiren who was in a daze, "Except that it can't be used with my first wand, everything else is perfect, just like a new hand."

"Is the hair wand core so magical?" Dumbledore exclaimed in amazement.

It stands to reason that wizards like Professor McGonagall are no longer so dependent on wands, and can even cast spells without a wand.

But Professor McGonagall was still happy all day, and Dumbledore also noticed that she used magic more often today, and the small magic spells that she could usually solve were now done with the new wand given by Siren.

"It's amazing," said Professor McGonagall. "It feels like a part of your body. Even some simpler spells don't require any incantation."

"Silent spell?" Professor Flitwick asked. "This should be easy for you."

"It's still different." Professor McGonagall shook her head. "It's not that you don't need to recite the spell, but that you don't need to. The magic is already done when you have the thought in your mind."

"Really?" Professor Flitwick's eyes widened in surprise.

As a dueling expert, he instantly understood what Professor McGonagall meant.

The fact that no spell is needed means that the casting process can be completed instantly. If Professor McGonagall were to duel, she would definitely have the upper hand and would not give her opponent any chance to counterattack.

As for what Professor McGonagall said about only simple spells being able to ignore the curse... Professor Flitwick simply ignored it.

Even with the simplest repulsive spell, he was confident that he could suppress his opponent to the end.

"If I pay for it, Mr. Ollivander shouldn't feel offended." Professor Flitwick was a little tempted, but he was not sure what Siren thought.

The main reason was that he knew Garrick Ollivander when he was young, and knew how stubborn that guy used to be, and how he made wands based on his mood and preferences... until he took over the wand shop in Diagon Alley.

"Well..." Professor McGonagall hesitated and did not answer.

Would Xi Lun feel offended? She didn't know, and it was difficult to answer.

It's just...

Professor McGonagall looked down and casually glanced at the top of Flitwick's head.

As everyone knows, Professor Flitwick is part goblin, and goblins usually don't have much hair. I don't know if this is the reason, but Professor Flitwick's hair looks... well, not very lush.

Professor McGonagall wasn't sure they would meet the requirements for a wand core, since her wand was nearly twelve inches long.

On the other side, Dumbledore raised his glasses thoughtfully, but happened to see an unexpected person who was secretly looking at the door of the hall.

"Hagrid?" Dumbledore asked in surprise, and took the initiative to walk over and bring him in.

"I'm so glad you didn't refuse my invitation to dinner this time. Christmas is fun when we're all together." Dumbledore smiled and pointed to an empty seat next to him, motioning Hagrid to sit down first.

That seat was originally Snape's, but he wasn't here today.

Hagrid felt a little embarrassed. For some reason, he had been expelled from Hogwarts by the Ministry of Magic for "negligence in controlling dangerous creatures" and his wand was broken.

Only Dumbledore was willing to believe him and gave him a job.

So normally Hagrid was not very willing to come to the castle, let alone have dinner with the professors... He didn't want to cause trouble for Dumbledore.

He came to see Xilun this time and had no intention of staying for dinner.

It was just that Dumbledore was too enthusiastic, and by the time Hagrid reacted, he had already sat in Snape's seat.

"How about a turkey sandwich? I must admit, the house-elves really roast too many turkeys." Dumbledore said half-jokingly.

Hagrid naturally had no objection.

"You should come more often. A gamekeeper is also a member of Hogwarts." Dumbledore continued, "You are worthy of eating in the Great Hall with everyone."

Hagrid pretended not to hear.

Again, he didn't want to cause trouble for Dumbledore.

Moreover, he didn't like crowded places very much. Wizards hated giants and didn't treat half-giants like him very well. Most young wizards looked at him strangely and made him feel uncomfortable.

Of course, Xi Lun and Harry are different.

Hagrid sat next to Dumbledore and managed to finish an awkward dinner.

As soon as the food on the plate disappeared, he couldn't wait to say goodbye to Dumbledore, got up and left, and stuffed a brown paper bag into Xiren's arms as he passed by.

"This is what you left at my place. Don't forget it next time," said Hagrid.

Xi Lun didn't react for a moment. When he looked up, he saw Hagrid winking at him.

In fact, Hagrid was really not good at lying. Even Harry, who was standing next to him, could tell something was wrong with his words and stiff tone.

But Hagrid didn't give them time to ask questions. After handing the things to Xi Lun, he left the hall directly.

Xi Lun subconsciously opened the bag, and a familiar white color came into view...

"What's in there?" Ron leaned over curiously.

"Nothing." Xi Lun closed the bag casually. "I asked Hagrid for a few rock cakes, but I forgot to take them when I came back."

"Rock Cake..." Ron couldn't help but frown, as if thinking of some bad experience. "That thing is as hard as a rock, it's impossible to bite it. You actually went to him specifically to ask for it?"

"Ah, yes, I recommend you to try it, it's delicious." Xilun said absentmindedly.

"I'd better forget it." Ron covered his mouth and instantly lost interest in the bag.
