Chapter 25 Three-Headed Dog

After a quick run, Xi Lun finally opened the classroom door just before class started and answered when the professor called the roll.

Yes, although he is a ghost, Professor Binns will take attendance in every class, and no one knows how he recognizes those students.

It is also possible that he does not know him and it is just a professional habit.

After his name was called, Xi Lun slumped down on the table, his eyelids began to twitch, and his vision began to blur.

Sunlight streamed in through the gridded windows, strands of light intertwining to look like silver unicorn tail hair wrapped around the runes.

The weather was just right, neither too cold nor too hot, and with Professor Ghost's unique voice like a hypnotic potion, it would be a shame not to sleep.

But some people don’t think so.
Xi Lun heard someone talking in a daze. He didn't want to pay attention to it, but the other party was too persistent and kept talking, and the voice was getting louder and louder.

"Did Professor McGonagall really put you on the Gryffindor team?"

"You are so awesome!"

"Did you notice the look in Malfoy's eyes? He was stunned."

"That's the Nimbus 2000, the fastest broom."

"Harry, can you let me ride for a bit? Just for ten minutes."

The sound was like a hundred Cornish pixies buzzing in Ciron's ears, and he was a little hesitant about whether to let Ron be quiet for a while.

But at this time, the two suddenly changed the subject.

"Is he asleep?" It was still Ron's voice.

"He should be asleep," Harry said. "I heard Neville say that Xi Lun seemed to be busy with something these days and he always went to bed in the early morning. It should have been the same yesterday. Remember? When we came back last night, the light in his dormitory was still on."

"He's been really... hard-working," Ron muttered.

"Forget it, never mind all that. As long as he can't hear it, it's fine." Ron seemed to lower his voice.

"Yesterday was really thrilling. I didn't expect Malfoy to be such a mean person. He was the one who asked for the duel, but in the end he didn't show up.

"I suspect he was the one who brought Filch here. Otherwise, why would it be such a coincidence that he appeared on the same floor as us?"

"That was an oversight on my part," said Harry. "I didn't realize Malfoy was so mean."

"They're all despicable," Ron sneered, "We were almost eaten as a midnight snack by that three-headed dog... But it's really exciting to think about it, we actually escaped from the three-headed dog.

"Why do you think Dumbledore would keep such a dangerous magical creature in school?"

"Didn't Hermione say that? It's to guard something."

"Oh, don't mention her to me." Ron said impatiently, "She's crazy. She actually thinks being expelled is worse than being mauled to death by a three-headed dog."

"Well... I think what she said makes sense." Harry seemed to support Hermione a little.

"You're crazy too," Ron said, but didn't pursue the subject any further.

"Then what do you think it is guarding?"

"I don't know," Harry said, then lowered his voice again. "Maybe... something from vault 713?"

"The one that got robbed at Gringotts?" Ron raised his voice unconsciously.

"Keep your voice down," Harry reminded him hastily. After Ron finished speaking, he continued, "Yes, that's right. Hagrid took something from the vault, and then Hogwarts had a room guarded by a three-headed dog. Isn't that obvious enough?"

Gudong!

It sounded like someone swallowing.

"That must be something important," said Ron. "Gold, I guess."

"Probably not," said Harry. "I took a look at it. It's a dirty little bag. If it's gold, it's not worth bringing back to school and having a three-headed dog guard it."

Ron mumbled something, but his voice was too quiet to be heard clearly.

Harry didn't hear clearly either. "What did you say?"

"Ah... I say, what do you think is in there?"

"I don't know. Something that size might be a diamond." Harry thought of an answer that seemed more likely to him.

"Huh? What is that?"

"A kind of jewelry," Harry explained. "It's jewelry more precious than gold. Aunt Petunia has a necklace with a tiny one on it, no bigger than a bean, but she treasures it like a treasure and only wears it on the most important days."

"That must be very expensive," said Ron. "But Muggle jewellery might not be so valuable to wizards, and goblins are very good at bargaining. I'd say it's probably the recipe for the Chocolate Frogs, because that's the best chocolate ever."

"But why is the recipe for the Chocolate Frog at Hogwarts?"

"Perhaps someone has asked Dumbledore for help."

……

The two of them were chattering beside each other, getting more and more excited.

Xi Lun probably understood it as well.

They had agreed with Malfoy to have a wizard duel late at night yesterday, but were stood up.

Malfoy didn't go, they only waited for Filch. In order to avoid being caught, the two of them and Hermione who came to stop them hid in the forbidden room, and saw a three-headed dog guarding the trapdoor inside.

Harry also believed that the thing the three-headed dog was guarding was related to the Gringotts vault that was previously stolen.

Hmm... three-headed dog...

Xi Lun was no longer sleepy. He opened his eyes and looked at Harry and Ron who looked terrified.

"You, you're not asleep?" Ron's voice trembled.

"I should say that you guys kept me awake." Xi Lun yawned. "Next time you tell me a secret, remember to keep your voice down."

Harry and Ron's faces turned red and white, and they looked at Xiren hesitantly.

"Don't worry, I will keep it a secret." Xi Lun guessed what they were worried about and said directly.

"Thank you, thank you."

"It's okay." Xi Lun waved his hand. "But I'm curious about one thing. Did you really go into that room?"

"what?"

"It's the forbidden room on the fourth floor."

"Ah, yes, that's right," said Harry, and Ron nodded in agreement.

Seeing that Xi Lun looked very interested, the two of them gradually let down their guard.

Eleven years old is the age when people like to show off, and they are no exception. As soon as Xilun asked them, they told him.

"It seems the principal didn't let us in there for a reason. The three-headed dog in there is ten feet tall."

Ron stretched out his hand and gestured at an exaggerated height, as if to show that his experience yesterday was really thrilling.

"That's amazing." Xi Lun smacked his lips.

"It was just good luck. We don't want to go through that again."

Although they said so, the excitement and reluctance that appeared unconsciously on their faces showed that they were eager to experience it again.

"Then how did you get in?" Xi Lun asked casually, "Didn't you meet the professor along the way?"

"No," Harry said after a moment's thought. "We were being chased by Filch for a long time, and we had no choice but to hide in that corridor."

"Yes, we didn't even know which floor it was beforehand."
