Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 19 The Unreasonable Old Wand

Chapter 19 The Unreasonable Old Wand

Cielen had indeed promised to help Hagrid fix something—his wand.

But this kind of thing must not be known to other people, especially Harry and Ron.

In a sense, these two people are actually like Hagrid. They are tight-lipped people and will not reveal any secrets on their own initiative.

But they each have a shortcoming.

Hagrid would occasionally let something slip, while Harry and Ron would conspire loudly, never minding the surroundings as they discussed secrets.

The next day was the first weekend holiday after Hogwarts started.

Early on Saturday morning, Xi Lun left the castle and came to the edge of the forbidden forest alone.

Hagrid's cabin is quite obvious and can be seen at a glance.

When Xi Lun walked over, the door of the wooden house was closed and the windows were covered tightly, leaving no gaps at all.

"We agreed to meet today, why aren't you at home?" Xi Lun walked up and knocked on the door in confusion.

When the second knock was heard, the door creaked open a crack from the inside.

"Keep your voice down, Xi Lun, keep your voice down..."

Hagrid lay on the crack of the door, his eyes staring nervously in the direction of the castle.

"come on in!"

He made room for Xiren and immediately closed the door after he squeezed in.

"No one saw you."

"No," Xi Lun said, "I think you're too nervous. This will only draw attention to yourself."

"Perhaps you're right..." Hagrid rubbed his hands, "But I really can't relax. I even put Fang in the Forbidden Forest."

"Ya?"

"A dog I have."

"So, you think a dog would reveal the secret of your illegal wand possession?"

"Oh, please keep your voice down." Hagrid subconsciously lifted the curtain and took a look outside.

"Okay." Xi Lun didn't insist, but just stretched out his hand, "Now give me your wand, I need to know about its condition."

Hagrid nodded and pulled a pink umbrella from the inside pocket of his coat.

To be honest, Hagrid's disguise was really perfunctory. It was actually a small umbrella. Siren felt that it was a bit small even for him, let alone Hagrid who was eleven feet tall.

This thing can probably only cover his head.

If Hagrid hadn't stayed in the school's forbidden forest, someone would have noticed something was wrong long ago.

Forget it, there's no way Hagrid can really use this umbrella to keep out the rain anyway, so let it be.

Xi Lun took the umbrella and took off the umbrella cover and handle.

Sixteen inches, probably the longest wand Xi Lun had ever seen. With the crude willow shell on the outside, the length reached twenty inches.

"Silen, how's it... Oh, what have you done!"

Before Hagrid could finish his words, he saw Siren rub his wand hard.

A layer of wood crumbled into pieces with a slight shake, like the skin shed by a salamander, revealing the battered wand underneath.

The sixteen-inch wand was covered in spider-web-like cracks, and in some of them one could even see the red phoenix tail feathers.

Xi Lun ignored Hagrid who was feeling distressed, and took it in front of him to look at it carefully for a while.

"Who fixed it for you?"

"I can't say." Hagrid shook his head. "Don't ask. I won't tell you."

"Okay, it doesn't matter." Xi Lun didn't care, "But I dare say that the person who repaired this wand must be a powerful magician." "That's for sure, Dumbledore is the most powerful wizard..."

A look of horror suddenly appeared on Hagrid's face.

"I shouldn't have said that. I betrayed Dumbledore. He helped me fix my wand, but I betrayed him."

"Don't get so excited, Hagrid." Siren couldn't help rubbing his ears. "You don't think I'll tell on you, do you? Don't forget I'm helping you fix your wand right now."

"I, I didn't mean that."

"I know." Xi Lun held the wand flat in front of his eyes. "I was wrong. It doesn't seem to need to be repaired again."

"what?"

"Look at this." Xiren carefully pried up a piece of oak splinter and tried to take it off.

But several threads thinner than a hair tightly connected the fragments and the remaining wand.

"I've never seen such a powerful repair spell." Xi Lun couldn't help but sigh, "This kind of damage can't be repaired by a spell, but it can be kept intact in another form. It's incredible."

"That's Dumbledore," said Hagrid matter-of-factly.

Xi Lun didn't say anything, but his desire to take a look at the Elder Wand became stronger.

If he remembered correctly, Hagrid's wand was broken fifty years ago. It was unreasonable that it could last so long.

"Are you still going to fix it? Actually, it can be used like this now."

"Repair it, of course we have to." Hagrid turned around hurriedly.

It can be used, but it's too annoying to see it cracked like this. He didn't even dare to use force for fear that it would break again.

"Okay." Xiren nodded, took out a wand, and muttered a spell.

The spell was long, taking almost half a minute from start to finish.

Hagrid saw with his own eyes that his wand was like a lizard shedding its skin. First a layer of outer shell squeezed out, and the wand instantly became thinner.

Next comes the second layer.

After that, only a fiery red phoenix tail feather was left.

Hagrid whimpered subconsciously, but was worried that it would disturb Xiren, so he quickly covered his mouth.

Actually, there was no need to do that. Xilun, who had already started working, would not be disturbed by the noise.

He first picked up the outermost circle of the staff.

The magic runes engraved on it were all misplaced, no wonder it cracked into that shape. It must be that Dumbledore's repairing spell was too strong, otherwise it would have shattered completely.

But this also makes it easier for him to repair it, as he doesn't have to do a puzzle.

Xi Lun opened the cowhide bag he was carrying and took out a silver carving knife, a few pieces of wood, and a can of pine oil-like glue for wands.

He had decided to help Hagrid a long time ago, and he had prepared all these things in advance.

First, use glue to carefully stick the pieces together. After making sure the positions are correct, expand the corresponding magic runes little by little.

To put it simply, this job is quite simple. It is to cover the original dislocation with new traces to restore the integrity of the magic runes.

The process is rather cumbersome and cannot afford to make mistakes. It is a meticulous job and takes some time.

Generally, if you encounter this kind of situation elsewhere, whether it is Siren or Ollivander, they will suggest that the other party replace the wand, which is half the price of repairing it.

But this time Siren said nothing, because there was no way Hagrid would buy a new wand, and there was no way Ollivander would sell him one.

He could have made one himself, but he didn't have any wands this large in his inventory, and Hagrid probably wouldn't be able to use the others either.

Take your time, it's the weekend anyway and he doesn't have anything to do.
