Secret World: I Became a God Through Lies
Chapter 89 Youmeng's Transaction and the Forgotten Past
Chapter 89 Youmeng's Transaction and the Forgotten Past
"There's nothing you can't buy on the Whale Grave's black market."
"But in some transactions, more than just gold is paid."
Youmeng Harbor is the darkest, most chaotic and most mysterious corner of the Whale Grave.
This is the center of all transactions for pirates, mercenaries, spies, and bounty hunters. Whether it is contraband or rare secret cards,
It's the head of a pirate king. As long as you can afford the price, there will always be someone willing to sell it.
The dark streets are deep and narrow, immersed in the damp and foul sea fog. Colorful lights flicker in every hidden corner, covering up countless shady transactions.
Alison stepped into Youmeng Harbor. Her dark blue reformed military uniform looked out of place in this filthy place.
She walked with a steady step and sharp eyes, as if she was still reviewing the Royal Navy fleet.
She hated this place, hated the lingering smell of mold and decay in the air.
She hated the pirates and traders who mingled among them and told lies, but she had to deal with them.
Beside her, Evette followed slowly with her usual frivolous smile.
She was wearing a tight-fitting dark red leather armor, with a slender dagger hanging from her waist and an unlit cigarette hanging from the corner of her mouth.
Cunning, sinister, and venomous, she is the most dangerous intelligence officer of the Scarlet Rose Pirates.
She looked around, her eyes lingering on the traders hiding in the shadows, and sneered.
Whispering: "Youmeng Harbor, the most valuable place in the garbage dump."
She spit out the cigarette butt, and raised the corner of her mouth slightly, "Alison, can you really adapt to a place like this?"
Alison glanced at her calmly and said in a cold voice:
"I'm not used to it, but compared to those even more hateful guys in the Royal Navy, at least I know these pirates won't stab me in the back."
Her tone was overbearing, with the coldness and hardness that is unique to soldiers.
Evett shrugged and smiled meaningfully: "Oh, I didn't expect you to have so little confidence in your old colleagues?"
Alison snorted coldly and lowered her voice even lower:
"I trust my companions, but the Royal Navy? Ah, they are nothing but a bunch of greedy businessmen and politicians wearing a cloak of glory."
Ivette raised her eyebrows and gave a thumbs-up: "Ruthless."
They walked into a dilapidated two-story building. The door panel was covered with knife marks and bullet holes, and a window was casually covered with rags.
The humid air was filled with the smell of alcohol, tobacco, and some kind of decay.
The oil lamp in the corner of the wall emitted a dim yellow light, shrouding the entire room in a dull and gloomy atmosphere.
Inside the house, an old pirate with a mouth full of black and yellow teeth sat at a rickety wooden table.
Around him were piles of yellowed parchments, broken sea charts, and some mysterious cards that were glowing.
He looked up and saw them, grinning, revealing a mouthful of disgusting yellow teeth, and said in a hoarse and cunning voice: "Hey, look who's here, the women of the Red Rose."
He narrowed his eyes slightly, with a playful smile on his lips, "You guys didn't come here just to have a drink, did you?"
Alison's eyes were sharp, and she replied bluntly, "Xu Long's information is everything we need to know."
The old pirate chuckled mysteriously a few times, stretched out his fingers and tapped slowly on the table, squinting his eyes and said:
"Information... everything has a price. The key is, how much can you afford?"
Alison narrowed her eyes and said in a colder tone, "I've never heard of a seller who wants to negotiate the price before even seeing the goods."
Evett leaned against the wall with her arms crossed and scoffed, "That's right, old man, you have to at least let us know what you have."
The old pirate licked his cracked lips, smiled sinisterly, opened a parchment scroll on the table, and slowly spread it on the table.
It was a sketch. The man in the painting had sharp eyebrows and eyes, and his facial features were fierce. His aura was like a sword drawn from its sheath. Even though it was just a painting, it exuded a sense of oppression.
Evette's smile disappeared instantly, and her eyes became dim.
——The Red Dragon Pirate King, Xu Long.
Alison glanced at Evette lightly, and without asking any more questions, she spoke directly: "Tell me, how much do you know? What is the value of this information?"
The old pirate shook the wine glass in his hand, his eyes wandered between the two of them, and he said slowly:
"Not much, not much... just some trivial matters before the Red Dragon King entered the Death Arena."
He raised a finger and smiled slyly, "But this information is worth a piece of Nightmare Gold."
Alison's eyes narrowed slightly, and her voice dropped even lower. "Are you sure?" The old pirate grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. "Of course I am. This is the Whale Grave. Everything is at stake, and intelligence is the most valuable bargaining chip."
Evett frowned and said impatiently, "The price you ask is too high."
The old pirate shook his head and tutted, "High? That depends on whether you can afford it."
Just then, a lazy voice came from behind them, with a hint of nonchalant elegance.
"What about me?"
The old pirate originally had a playful expression on his face, but when he heard the voice, his expression suddenly changed, and then he put on a flattering smile, and his back straightened instantly.
Alison and Evette turned around at the same time and saw Mrs. May in a gorgeous red dress slowly walking into the house.
She flicked her fingers, and a piece of nightmare gold with a faint blue light turned between her fingers. Her thin lips curled up slightly, and her voice was leisurely, but with unquestionable majesty.
"Okay, stop talking nonsense and give me the information." She raised her eyebrows slightly and said elegantly.
The old pirate immediately showed a fawning smile and quickly handed over the parchment scroll: "Hey, great customer! Here you go -"
The sea breeze blew across the deck, bringing with it a damp, salty smell, as well as the faint lights coming from the direction of the Whale Grave. Points of silver light danced on the sea, like a dream.
Lilia stood at the bow, letting the wind ruffle her hair, looking deep into the distance, as if gazing at some distant and unreachable world.
There, the blue sea meets the blue sky, the tide gently laps against the ship's hull, and the Whale Grave under the night sky is like a sleeping giant, lying quietly on the sea.
It is huge and mysterious, swallowing up the fate of countless people, but also attracting countless desperate people.
Lilia frowned slightly. She didn't know why she was standing here, nor did she know why she had lost all her memories.
She only knew that she and Calvino were siblings. Apart from that, her past seemed to have been swallowed up by the sea of dreams, leaving only a blank.
She sighed softly, her fingertips stroking the secret card in her arms - Whisper of Dreams.
The texture on the card surface felt slightly warm under my fingertips, and the touch was like a low whisper.
It echoed deep within her consciousness, yet was too vague for her to grasp.
Just then, a lazy voice broke her thoughts.
"What? Are you thinking of some bad things in the past?"
Lilia turned around and saw Celian leaning against the railing, supporting her chin with one hand, with a playful smile on her lips.
The scarlet eyes glowed faintly in the night, like a beast that could see through people's hearts.
Lilia smiled bitterly and whispered, "It would be a good thing if there were memories of the past to recall."
Her voice was slightly low, with a hint of helplessness and loneliness.
"But, Celian, I've forgotten everything... All my memories have been swallowed up by the Sea of Dreams."
Celian's smile faded slightly, and a complex emotion flashed in her eyes.
She looked at Lilia quietly, as if she was thinking, or considering how to start.
After a moment, she slowly walked forward and patted Lilia's shoulder.
The warmth of my palm penetrated the thin fabric, giving me an unexpected sense of security.
"It's okay, the memory will come back." She blinked her eyes and spoke in a relaxed tone, as if she was talking about an insignificant matter.
"And no matter what you remember, or what you've forgotten, you're still here now, right?"
Lilia was slightly stunned, staring blankly at Celia's bright eyes.
Then she smiled softly, her eyes softened, and she nodded slowly.
"Yes...I'm still here."
