Secret World: I Became a God Through Lies
Chapter 163 The Wind's Answer
Chapter 163 The Wind's Answer
"You can't hear the wind because you only listen to the dreams you want to hear."
The low hum of the wind slowly echoed on the bottom of the sea, like an elegy hidden in the abyss for thousands of years.
Inar's illusion was broken, the dream shed its gentle disguise, and the world finally revealed its true face - a black and blue coral wasteland.
Deadly silence and coldness, the shattered fragments of the illusion sank silently into the deep sea like floating petals.
Ian stood quietly, with the wind blowing around him.
The wind is finally back.
Gentle, yet cold, like the rhythm of some sigh, echoing in his ears and flowing in the deepest part of his soul.
The corners of his clothes swayed gently in the water, like a flag about to return to sail.
"Why won't you stop?"
The sound emerged from all directions, as soft as a lullaby, yet as deep as the tide flooding the eardrums.
The fog surged again, and a familiar figure slowly walked out from the depths.
It's——Claire.
She was shrouded in soft light, her long dress trailed on the ground, her face was gentle and her smile was peaceful.
In his hand was the signal light that he had repaired with his own hands. The wick was still flickering faintly, as if waiting for a response from the person returning from a long voyage.
"You're so tired, Ian."
She whispered, her eyes full of care and earnestness.
"Come home with me, okay? We don't have to wander anymore, we don't have to fight anymore. You can sleep until the sound of the tide has stopped."
Her voice seemed to be able to wrap the sharp blade into down, so gentle that it almost made people forget what battle was.
Ian didn't respond immediately.
He just looked at her, silently. There was a moment of hesitation in his eyes, and the surprise awakened by the familiar tenderness almost made him drown.
But then, he slowly walked forward and took her into his arms.
Tighten it tight.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered softly in her ear, "The wind told me...that you're fake."
After saying that, he gently twirled his fingers behind her back.
An invisible vortex was released from his fingertips, and the wind was like a fine thread.
He tore "Klia"'s body into pieces of pale golden dream crumbs, as if he had blown away a dream in the middle of the night with his own hands.
"But I still can't help but want to hug you once."
His voice was low, but firm.
The illusion was shattered, along with the last hesitation in his heart.
But the dream is not over.
Then, a second figure came over. It was Emma, the mate. She smiled and handed over a piece of sea salt bread: "Ian, eat something. You haven't eaten for two days."
Next came Resa, the grumpy chef who always made soup on the night shift. He cursed but handed over a bowl of hot fish soup.
Then came Li Xuan, the naturally active oriental boy, who stood in mid-air and shouted, "Southeast! A small vortex has been discovered! Same old thing, Ian!"
They came one after another, smiling, as natural as before, as if they had never left.
The wind howled at his back, but it no longer whispered warnings.
It just waited for him quietly, waiting for him to make a choice.
Ian closed his eyes and opened them again.
A sharp wind blade leaped up from the fingertips.
He waved.
The storm arose suddenly, and the familiar figures around him were torn into feather-like pieces of light one by one, spinning and dissipating over the wasteland.
He looked at the gradually emerging figure with cold and calm eyes.
"Hey—you're such a boring woman."
His tone was sarcastic but steady, as if he was exposing an actor with poor acting skills, or as if he was confronting God at the gambling table.
——The real Inar, the sootheer of deep dreams, appears.
Her figure was no longer a gentle phantom, but a female silhouette formed by countless spiral tentacles and water mist.
The face was covered with a mask, with the corners of the mouth raised and the eyes closed, always with a sleeping smile.
She didn't speak, but the sea water vibrated around her, making a low-frequency murmur, like the ripples caused by the dream god turning over.
She stretched out her hand, and a rotating dream mirror appeared in the void. It was the door to the next illusion.
Ian stood opposite her, holding the wind blade tightly, with the wind surrounding him.
"You're not here to lull me to sleep," he said. "You're here to make me forget myself."
He sneered.
"Unfortunately, I remember how the wind blows."
The wind began to swirl.
The next dream had just begun. "I just...provide you with what you want." She whispered softly.
The voice seemed to flow out from a dream, soft like water and as cold as the abyss.
"That's not what I want." Ian responded softly, as if he was talking to himself.
"Then why are you still holding Clea?" Her voice was tinged with a smile, with a subtle hint of cunning and cruelty.
"You won't even let go of the illusion, so how can you say you're awake?"
"I just..." He slowly raised his head, his eyes calm but deep, "I want to see her again."
As he spoke, he raised his right hand and pointed to the silent, mirror-like waters above:
“She taught me to listen to the wind.”
"What about you?" He paused, a sharp smile on his lips. "Have you ever heard the sound of the wind?"
At that moment, Ian raised his right arm, and the fate star map in his palm suddenly burst into six rays of light!
Six stars of reason ignited at the same time, like falling stars and burning destiny.
——World Card No. 556 "Wind Whispering Fantasy Realm" is activated!
The entire sleeping place suddenly changed!
The ocean currents flowed back, the tides collapsed, the seabed was torn apart, and countless wind lines invisible to the naked eye rose from the depths of the sea, interweaving into a huge transparent net that swept across the entire dream realm!
[Field Name: Endless Echo]
[Rule 1: Secret Language of the Wind]——The wind will reveal the truth of all secrets and illusions.
[Rule 2: Wind Confusion] - If the enemy hears the sound of the wind, they will fall into confusion and cognitive disorder.
[Rule Three: Lord of the Wind] - The drifting wind in this domain belongs to me.
As the rules spread, the field shifted - wind replaced dreams.
Inar's mask began to tremble, and her illusion collapsed like a paper figure burned by steam.
She tried to reshape Clea's image, but the wind slashed through the air, tearing the dream projection into pieces!
"What have you done!" Her voice finally lost control, and the gentle disguise of the goddess of dreams shattered into a broken and sharp roar.
The tentacles behind her danced wildly, like broken nerves twitching in the sea, the illusion shattered, the scene collapsed, and the tenderness turned into pieces!
And Ian - stood quietly in the center of the wind.
The wind behind him became a long robe, wrapping around him. Every vortex was his belief.
"You use dreams to lull people into sleep, and I use the wind to wake them up."
"You are a comforter, giving people temporary happiness."
"And I am a dream breaker. I will bring them back to reality."
His voice became clearer and clearer, like the wind hitting the waves, shaking the sea fog.
"Your vision is indeed beautiful."
"But unfortunately——"
He leaned forward slightly, took a step, and the wind whistled!
"I've changed my mind."
The storm roared, and a tornado rose under his feet, stirring up the seabed and tearing apart all the dormant afterimages!
The huge illusionary structure behind Inar—the "Island of Tranquility" composed of dream cores, flower fields, and mother's embrace—
Penetrated by the long howling of the wind!
Shattered!
Inar's mask was completely torn apart, his tentacles twisted and struggled, and his body was surrounded by a huge net, being tightened, cut, and deconstructed!
She opened her eyes wide and watched Ian approach step by step.
The gesture of comfort that once extended to all travelers now only left broken, empty, and with a wail on the verge of collapse.
But just when she was about to be annihilated, an unexpected, relieved smile appeared in her eyes.
“The wind…”
She murmured, her voice as soft as an echo:
"So you... never sleep."
Inar turned into dust in the wind and disintegrated into the dark blue sea.
Only one card remains, falling quietly.
No.: No.509
Star rating: High
Category: World
Real name: The End of Tranquility
False Name: Inar, the Soother of Deep Dreams
Ian reached out and caught the card, his fingertips brushing against the still-warm temperature.
He slowly opened his pocket watch, and under the silver light, the hands turned slightly back one notch.
Sobriety +10.
He put the cards under the watch and tightened the chain.
The wind blew across his face again.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The smell of the wind was finally no longer the gentleness simulated by the dream, but the salty sea breeze with a direction that he was truly familiar with.
He opened his eyes and whispered:
"Thank you, Claire."
"Now, I should move on."
