Chapter 154 Raid on the Main Star
"Then we should go..."
boom--
A muffled explosion echoed through the elders' chamber, startling the elders who were still discussing the matter.
That sound... was it an explosion?
What followed was extreme astonishment. You see, this planet has been their base for many years, and there has never been a single dangerous incident on this base planet.
Even the construction of heavy industry has long since stopped, such as building roads through mountains.
That's an ancient technology from thousands of years ago!
It is even less likely that advancements in earthquake technology have enabled them to accurately predict the time and location of earthquakes.
However, these elders have not received any notification. Therefore, it can be concluded that this was a sudden explosion.
The millennia-long period of peace is likely to be shattered today.
"An explosion-related safety incident?" The lowest-ranking elder in the council, who was also the youngest, clicked on the holographic image to ask the main city's AI with some doubt.
The image of a Warner Bros. creature had just appeared on the holographic projection screen when it began to flicker.
It seemed as if it had been affected by an unknown force, and could dissipate at any moment.
"Hmm?" The elder was somewhat puzzled, and then stretched out an arm, wanting to adjust the AI terminal in front of him.
Bang!
But just as his arm was halfway through its flight, the door was violently flung open. A disheveled figure tumbled forward and fell to the ground, sending dust flying everywhere.
This caused some of the elders nearby to frown slightly, their eyes revealing deep disgust. Some elders were even ready to call for the guards to drag the offender out and execute him.
"Elder! The enemy...the enemy...the enemy is attacking!" After managing to utter these words with all his might, the guard collapsed onto the steel floor, lifeless.
The elders, however, were all so shocked by the news that they stood up. Those closest to them no longer felt annoyance, but rather fear and a sense of relief.
One of them quickly stepped forward to help the guard up and inquire about the situation.
But as soon as he squatted down, blood began to flow from beneath the guard's body, turning the steel floor into a pool of blood.
All the elders stared in astonishment at this scene, their fear materializing in an instant.
Orbital bombardment by warships continues in the skies outside the main planet of the Warner civilization. Countless airships and transport planes are carrying soldiers for planetary landings.
On the warship, as the modified landing hatches slowly opened, one Astartes after another leaped out, stepping into the dark starry sky and hurtling towards the planet's surface.
The nano-cores that form the nano-armor on the surface of the power armor are now providing tremendous support for their individual planetary penetration tactics.
The engines on their backs and the planet's gravity propelled them ever faster. The armored surfaces around them glowed red, and even contained tiny nanoparticles that ignited into bright sparks from the friction, scattering outwards. As the thrust from the rear engines increased, Astartes' descent accelerated.
Just as the ground came into view, seemingly within arm's reach, the man suddenly exerted force in his waist and abdomen, straightening his body and increasing the spraying power, keeping his body suspended in the air for more than a second at a distance of 5 meters from the ground.
This also largely negated the inertia of their descent. As the engines at their rear shut off, the Astartes slammed heavily into the ground, which had already been dented by the high temperatures of the engines.
Qiuqiu—
As soon as they landed, several laser beams shot towards them. Although the nano shields were quickly formed, the lasers easily penetrated them, pierced the surface of the nano armor, and left a black mark on the terracotta steel.
The soldiers of the Warner civilization, seeing that the attack had worked, showed expressions of joy and then pulled the triggers even more vigorously.
But as Astartes slowly drew his chainsaw sword from his waist, the soldiers of the Vanir civilization froze in place, and even the surrounding barrage of fire vanished.
It looked at the Astartes that were clearly under concentrated fire and couldn't understand why they were still able to move.
He subconsciously looked down at the weapon in his hand with some confusion and disbelief, and for the first time he had the feeling that it was a fire poker!
But that was no longer their concern. By the time they came to their senses, Astartes was already beside them at incredible speed. The chainsaw sword, held high, crashed down with a roar, its spinning monomolecular blades tearing through their armor and ripping open their fragile flesh.
Blood stained the armor of the Astartes, and even the nano-armor that had just been damaged by the attack slowly solidified, mixing in the blood of these aliens and turning the entire nano-armor a dark red.
"Enemy cleared from target location. Follow-up troops are permitted to land." An Astartes sergeant raised his right arm to communicate his mission progress to the added intelligent AI.
The Astartes behind him sheathed their chainsaws, took out their explosive pistols, and followed him toward the rooftop ahead.
The sergeant reached the edge of the rooftop and his first glance fell upon the aliens frantically fleeing down the street.
A bloodthirsty glint flashed in his eyes, while Astartes, following closely behind, stood with one leg braced against the edge of the rooftop railing, looking down with a bomb gun and sniping at the Warner aliens below who were blocking the mortal soldiers.
Just then, a sudden tremor caused everyone to stop their attack. Sensing something, they turned to look in a certain direction.
Then, a scene they would never forget unfolded. Amidst a cluster of towering skyscrapers...
Suddenly, thick smoke billowed up, and the buildings began to slowly move. Within this smoke, like ghostly figures appearing and disappearing without a trace, it created a sense of unease for many.
Seconds later, a huge figure slowly rose from the smoke. Astartes was the first to react, hurriedly signaling the mortals around him to retreat.
Just then, a bright light suddenly rose from the figure's arm, and then, like a sharp sword piercing through canvas, it pierced through the smoke, and an orange-yellow laser beam shot straight towards the battlefield.
In an instant, a huge mushroom cloud rose into the sky, whether it was Warner soldiers, Warner civilians, or even human soldiers from Yuanxing.
They were all annihilated by this attack. Only Astartes, sensing something was wrong, abandoned the mortal soldiers who had not yet been able to evacuate and quickly left.
