Chapter 23 The Theory of Cause and Effect, and the Karmic Positions of Heaven and Earth

Chapter 23 The Theory of Cause and Effect, and the Karmic Positions of Heaven and Earth

"Senior sister, since our teacher has entrusted the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation to you, just accept it. Whether it's with you or with our teacher, it's still part of the Jie Sect, isn't it? Won't you provide it when our teacher needs it?"

Zhou Chen put away the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation Diagram and offered some words of comfort to Jin Ling and the others who were somewhat frightened.

"That's right! It's all the same. Um, senior sister, if you don't want to accept it, you can leave it with me."

Bi Xiao echoed Zhou Chen's words, but her true intentions were obvious to anyone.

Jin Ling and the others ignored Bi Xiao and put away the Zhuxian Sword Formation under Bi Xiao's longing gaze.

Bixiao's big eyes were filled with disappointment, but then she thought, it's better that the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation is in the hands of her senior sisters than in the hands of their teacher. Besides, the training ground is still on Yingzhou Island, so there will always be opportunities in the future. Thinking of this, her mood was no longer so disappointed.

“Junior Brother Zhou Chen is right. As long as the Zhuxian Sword Formation doesn’t leave the Jie Sect, it’s the same as if it were in Master’s hands. Since Master gave it to us, let’s accept it.”

Let's each collect some of these Three Lights Divine Water for self-protection. Then we'll divide the spiritual fruits and discuss the Dao. Since there's still plenty of time before Master's lecture, let's focus on improving our strength so we can surprise him next time he speaks.

The Holy Mother of Golden Spirit regained her former grace and began to speak clearly and logically.

Everyone agreed, and they each accepted some of the Three Lights Divine Water before going to pick fruit.

When it came time to distribute the fruit, Jin Ling and the others probably felt that they owed this opportunity to Zhou Chen, so they gave him the most fruit, two or three yellow plums and six hundred life tree fruits. The others each received one yellow plum and four hundred life tree fruits. As for the two spiritual roots, no one mentioned them, since they belonged to the same sect and were all in this dojo, so what difference did it make whether they received them or not?

The group then discussed the matter further, mainly to get Zhou Chen's advice, given the vast difference in their strength.

But Zhou Chen found it boring as he listened. They were just extracting their own parts from what the sages said and incorporating them into the Shangqing Immortal Method, without any innovation.

However, we can't blame them. Although their aptitude is good, it's still not comparable to that of a sage. The laws created by a sage are already top-notch for them, and they've done quite well to achieve this.

Soon it was Zhou Chen's turn.

"Fellow senior sisters, let me talk about the path of cultivation!"

The Taiyi Contact Law and the Daluo Perfection Law form one's own Great Dao; this is common knowledge.

But you may not fully understand what that means.

Simply put, it means mastering the fundamental laws of heaven and earth to build one's own rules and order. The Quasi-Saint realm is the process of perfecting one's own rules and order, while the Primordial Realm is the process of integrating one's own rules into the rules of the Great Dao, making them a part of the rules of the Great Dao.

The sages, however, cleverly integrated their own rules and order into the rules of the Heavenly Dao using the Primordial Purple Qi. But this was a desperate measure; being under the Heavenly Dao, breaking through its rules and merging into the Great Dao's rules was virtually impossible. Yet, merging into the Heavenly Dao required the Primordial Purple Qi, making this path difficult as well.

However, you cannot achieve independence from space and time, so you can only embark on this path. Because you are in the primordial world, karma arises. As long as you cultivate and absorb spiritual energy, you will incur karmic debts to the Heavenly Dao. If you do not do anything beneficial to the primordial world, the stronger you become, the greater the karmic debt you owe to the Heavenly Dao will be. Until the final settlement of karma, which is the time of your death and the dissipation of your Dao, your body will return to heaven and earth, return to its origin, and your own Dao will repay the karmic debts owed to the Heavenly Dao.

Zhou Chen's words caused everyone present to frown, and the Golden Spirit Mother couldn't help but ask:
“Zhou Chen, Master said that Great Luo Golden Immortals can escape the River of Fate and roam the world freely. How come it's different from what you said?” “Yes! According to what you said, don't we only have death and annihilation as our path?”

"Exactly, Zhou Chen, are you exaggerating or something?"

……

Several senior sisters began to argue, because Zhou Chen's words were too much of a blow to them. If what Zhou Chen said was true, then what was the point of their cultivation?

"Hehe, senior sister, don't be in a hurry, let me finish."

Zhou Chen didn't take it to heart. After all, he would have been anxious too, since those words were quite hurtful.

"It is true that a Great Luo Golden Immortal can jump out of the River of Destiny, but that is only destiny. The River of Destiny is not jumping out of the Heavenly Dao. Under the Heavenly Dao, how can one not owe the Heavenly Dao cause and effect?"
The so-called carefree existence is only relative. With greater strength, one can certainly be more carefree than others. This can be seen in sages; sages are powerful enough, but can they truly be carefree and at ease?
No, even saints have their responsibilities. It's just that saints are powerful and can live a relatively carefree life in the primordial world thanks to their formidable strength.

Of course, what I'm saying isn't to deny the significance of your cultivation, but rather to point you in the right direction so that you won't end up on the path of death and annihilation.

Zhou Chen paused slightly after saying this, and seeing that Jin Ling and the others' expressions had softened, he continued.

"Since you cannot escape the karma of Heaven, then you should strive to do things that are beneficial to the primordial world and slowly repay this karma. Wouldn't that solve the problem?"
As long as your karma hasn't reached a certain level and you're consistently repaying it, Heaven generally won't let you get into trouble. Of course, to be on the safe side, it's best to plan for a celestial ordained position, thus providing double insurance.

When this point was mentioned, even the Holy Mother of the Tortoise Spirit couldn't help but ask a question.

What is the "position of Heaven and Earth"?

"The Heavenly Position is an identity recognized by the Heavenly Dao. With this identity, one can do certain things more legitimately in the primordial world. For example, Kunpeng has the position of Demon Master, so he can legitimately teach the demon race. This is recognized by the Heavenly Dao, and no one can stop him."

Of course, it's too early to discuss these celestial positions now. After all, we're still in the midst of a great calamity, the Wu and Yao races are still fighting to the death, and the primordial world hasn't settled down yet. Having these celestial positions wouldn't be of any use to us. Besides, your cultivation levels are too low; you can't do anything beneficial for the primordial world. I'm just telling you this in advance so you can be prepared for the future.”

When Zhou Chen got to this point, Bi Xiao rolled her eyes at him and muttered something under her breath.

"Hmph! So what if he's a little stronger? Does he need to show off like that?"

Zhou Chen was sitting next to Bi Xiao and reached out to pat her shoulder, but it seemed like there was a crackling of electricity in his hand as he patted her.

"Senior Sister Bixiao, what are you muttering about?"

"Ah~~"

Bi Xiao was immediately paralyzed by the electric shock. Of course, Zhou Chen was careful not to hurt her, only numbing her for a moment.
