Chapter 59 Say Goodbye to This World
Chapter 59 Say Goodbye to This World
Only through exercise and combat can the body's potential be unlocked. Roland glided rapidly across the snowfield, experiencing for the first time the true power of his body: explosive power, balance, reaction speed... everything was ridiculously strong.
'I can't even imagine how strong Drake's body must be.'
His cloak fluttered in the wind, and all he could hear was the howling of the wind. In just a few minutes, he closed in on the pursuing group and took in the entire battle.
The pursuers were fourteen men, all adult males of medium height, with dark skin on their exposed skin, and most were from out of town. A few hundred meters ahead, Caius and two of his henchmen were skiing desperately, their movements suggesting they were injured.
Roland glanced around and immediately fixed his gaze on a short young man. Judging from his clothes and the expressions of the people around him, this man should be their leader.
Both sides noticed someone approaching from behind. The pursuers didn't recognize Roland, but they knew he wasn't one of their own. The short, thin youth shouted a few times, and the last four men immediately slowed down, blocking Roland's path.
"Halt!" one of them shouted sharply, his longsword held upright, suggesting he was a trained swordsman.
“In broad daylight, you dare to gather a crowd to commit murder; this is utterly lawless.” Roland’s voice was clear and carried far. “As a friend of the law enforcement officer… I absolutely cannot allow it.”
Before he finished speaking, the distance between them had closed to twenty meters. He suddenly threw off his cloak, drew his gun, and fired.
"Bang bang bang-"
With both hands working in tandem, he fired six shots in quick succession, each hitting its mark.
The two sides passed each other, and four people fell to the ground one after another behind them, their bright red blood soaking through the snow, making them stand out conspicuously.
Roland smiled, quite satisfied with his performance. Although the closest distance between them was only a few meters, the relative speed made it difficult to hit all the targets.
He ejected the spent cartridge cases one by one and then quickly loaded the bullets back in. He had practiced this action many times and was very skilled at it.
The gunshots didn't reach the distant town of Ice River, but they were enough to alert the two groups in pursuit. Their reactions differed, but both unconsciously slowed down.
Leob, standing in the crowd, pulled down his mask, his expression gloomy. He was now in a dilemma; if he stopped, Caius would escape. If he didn't stop, the enemies behind him would catch up, and he would only be defeated one by one.
Between two evils, choose the lesser. After a moment's thought, he decided to resolve the crisis that followed first.
Seeing that the other party had stopped, Roland quickly slowed down as well. He couldn't rush in this time; according to his observation, the other party had at least two guns.
As the distance closed to within a hundred meters, about to enter the firing range of a regular revolver, two black shadows appeared on his body, landing lightly and transforming into two giant black wolves.
"Kill them all!"
Killie and Freddie grinned menacingly, then leaped out and charged into the crowd from two different directions.
"Roland!" Leub exclaimed in shock and anger. If he still couldn't guess, he would be too stupid. "Don't be afraid, attack together, we have guns."
"Bang bang bang..."
Roland fired first, emptying the magazine in one go. At a distance of 100 meters, it was purely a fluke, but unexpectedly, he actually took down one of them, leaving nine remaining.
'Hehe, how about a casual shooting technique?' He hovered on the perimeter, keeping watch, not getting close.
No one paid attention to the unfortunate man; the crowd was gathering in the center, their eyes fixed on the two wolves. The two pistols fired almost simultaneously, but the two black wolves dodged the shots with incredible agility.
A hint of mockery flickered in Killie's narrow eyes. This speed was far inferior to the attack of a mayfly stalked by a needle. It was indeed slower than a bullet, but faster than a human reaction; it could dodge in time even after the trigger was pulled.
Liu Bu felt a chill run down his spine and a sense of dread gripped him. His hand, which was loading bullets, trembled uncontrollably. "Attack together! Running will only..." With a tearing sound, an outer member was ripped open, a dark shadow flashed by, and chaos erupted in the crowd.
Black Wolf's charge was so fast that he didn't give his opponent a chance to say another word.
Bang, bang, bang! Liu Bu was forced to fire the three hastily loaded bullets, but they all landed in empty spaces, and he almost accidentally injured his subordinates.
Fletcher was cunning, using others as human shields to quickly close in on the gunmen while reaping kills. Killie was simple and brutal, grabbing a corpse and throwing it forcefully, sending it hurtling towards Leub like a cannonball, forcing him to dodge awkwardly.
With a whoosh, just as Liu Bu drew his knife, he caught a glimpse of a dark shadow out of the corner of his eye. Then, he felt a chill on his shoulder as his entire arm, carrying the hunting knife, was spun out and sent flying, the red fountain spewing up a large cloud of white mist.
"what--"
The sound was extremely shrill. He desperately pressed on the wound, but he still couldn't stop the spurting blood.
As soon as he fell, the others completely collapsed and scattered in all directions, only to be killed one by one by the two wolves. The furthest of them did not even run a hundred meters.
"Pathetic." Roland slid into the battlefield, looking at the horribly mangled corpses with a sigh. Unless every enemy soldier was armed, there was really no way to deal with the Twin Wolves.
With a whoosh, Roland came to an abrupt stop in front of Lyub, the snow kicked up by his fur skis splashing all over him.
Liu Bu dared not wipe it away, sitting half-reclined in the snow pit where the blood had melted, his expression one of despair: "Roland, let's talk this out. If I die, Boss White Bear won't let you off the hook. He knows some important people in the capital..."
"Don't believe him."
Caius hurried over, glancing at the corpses and bloodstains on the ground, and unconsciously swallowed. They were bad people, and they had killed people before, but that was all for money. What he saw before him was blatant slaughter, incomparable to this.
“How could the nobles of the capital possibly look down on such scum?” Caius cursed himself in his agitation. He took a breath and continued, “The White Bear has hooked up with the outer management.”
“I’m not lying to you,” Leub argued, forcing his head to clear. “Caius is an outsider; he doesn’t know. We’re from the Southern Thistle Merchant Guild, and we’re here on a secret mission.”
Caius paused, a sense of sadness washing over him. He hadn't expected that despite giving his all, he would still only be a high-ranking handyman.
“Tell me more.” Roland had indeed never heard of this chamber of commerce.
"Save me..." Liu Bu lay half-lying in the snowdrift, his whole body almost soaked in blood, his face pale and his mind dazed.
Roland turned and walked away, his cold voice drifting on the wind: "Say goodbye to this world."
Kili walked slowly up, placed a paw on Lewb's neck, and pressed half of his body into the snow. A faint hissing sound rang out, and a splash of crimson spread out.
Caius stared blankly at the collapsed snow, reflecting on the past few days, a deep sorrow welling up within him. Ordinary people couldn't even control their own lives. He instinctively pressed his hand to the amber he wore close to his body, a renewed fighting spirit surging within him.
He quietly walked behind Roland, bowed, and said, "White Bear is a man of his own volition. If it were truly a secret mission, he wouldn't have told the Third Brother."
"Hmm, is your injury alright?" Roland asked, looking at the bloodstains on his left arm.
“A minor scrape won’t affect our journey,” Caius gestured, raising his arm. “I’ll have people bring the sleds and clean up the mess right away.”
"ASAP."
