Chapter 19 Second Personality
The truck jolted forward in the rainy night, the atmosphere heavy and tense. Su Wanqing leaned back in her seat, taking advantage of the brief break to tend to the wound on her arm.

The blood had already clotted, but the pain was still there. She pulled a small medical kit from her backpack and began to apply a simple bandage.

Lin Che sat in the corner, staring blankly at the blurry scene passing by outside the window.

The appearance of the fangs filled him with fear, and those deliberately deleted fragments of memory came back like a tide.

His temples throbbed, and pain raced through his body like an electric current.

"Are you okay?" Xiao Ran observed Lin Che's condition, noticing his trembling hands and the beads of sweat on his forehead.

Lin Che didn't answer, but hugged her knees tightly and buried her head deeply.

A painful groan escaped his tightly pursed lips. The suppressor on his wrist flickered unsteadily, sometimes red, sometimes blue.

"What's wrong with him?" Xiao Ran turned to Su Wanqing, his voice filled with vigilance.

Su Wanqing stopped bandaging and looked at Lin Che with a frown. "Memory conflict. His sealed memory is awakening, but the inhibitor is preventing this process."

"Is there any danger?"

"Yes." Su Wanqing replied briefly, "If the conflict is too intense, it could cause brain damage."

Lin Che suddenly let out a cry of pain, covered his head with his hands, and curled up into a ball.

The suppressors were becoming more frequent, like a shorted signal light.

"We have to do something." Xiao Ran reached out to touch Lin Che, but was stopped by Su Wanqing.

"Don't touch him," she warned. "In this state, his powers might go out of control."

"What should we do? Just watch him suffer?" Xiao Ran frowned in dissatisfaction.

Su Wanqing did not answer, but opened her backpack and searched for something inside.

After a few seconds, she pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a delicate chocolate cake.

"When was this?" Xiao Ran looked at the intact cake in surprise.

Su Wanqing didn't explain, but carefully placed the cake on the seat in front of Lin Che.

A sweet aroma spread in the small compartment.

"Lin Che," she called softly, her voice much gentler than usual, "Look here."

Lin Che's painful groans gradually stopped. He raised his head with difficulty, his eyes turning from pain to confusion.

He stared at the cake and blinked, as if he didn't understand the situation.

"Eat it." Su Wanqing pushed the cake closer, "You need sugar."

Lin Che hesitated for a moment, then slowly extended his hand. His fingers were still trembling, but not as violently as before.

He picked up the cake gently and took a careful bite.

The feeling of chocolate melting in his mouth made him close his eyes. When he opened them again, the look in his pupils was completely different.

The originally frightened and painful look in his eyes became gentle and mature, and the corners of his mouth even slightly raised, revealing a faint smile.

"It's delicious." He said, his voice much more mature and steady than before, "Thank you, sister."

Xiao Ran and Su Wanqing were both stunned.

"Who are you?" Su Wanqing asked directly, her hand quietly moving towards the weapon at her waist.

Lin Che—no, she was no longer Lin Che—smiled and finished the last bite of cake.

He used his fingers to elegantly wipe the chocolate from the corner of his mouth, a gesture completely different from the clumsy Lin Che of the past. "I'm Aze," he introduced himself, "the other self inside Lin Che's body."

Xiao Ran immediately tensed his body, his muscle lines became obvious, and he was ready to attack at any time.

He had seen too many crazy experiments in research institutes, and the second personality was not good news.

"Don't be nervous, big guy." Aze glanced at Xiao Ran, with a hint of teasing in his tone, "I won't hurt anyone, especially my sister."

"Aze," Su Wanqing looked directly into his eyes, "Have you always existed?"

Aze shook his head slightly: "Not exactly. I appeared after the experiment began and Lin Che couldn't bear the pain. When he realized that he couldn't escape from that hell, I became his shield."

"Interesting." Su Wanqing nodded thoughtfully, "You know more than Lin Che?"

"Of course." Aze's expression turned serious. "I remember every experiment, every researcher's name and face, and everything they did to us. Lin Che was forced to forget, but I didn't."

Xiao Ran quietly approached Su Wanqing and asked in a low voice, "Is this normal? This kind of personality transformation?"

Su Wanqing shook her head, signaling him not to act rashly: "Let him continue."

Ah Ze observed the interaction between the two, his lips curled up slightly. "Don't worry, I can always get Lin Che back. But right now, he needs to rest. Fang's appearance triggered too many painful memories."

"Do you know what the perfume bottle fragments are?" Su Wanqing suddenly asked.

Aze's eyes flickered, and he was obviously surprised by the question: "How do you know about the perfume bottle?"

"Intuition," Su Wanqing replied. "Lin Che's perfumer badge has a perfume bottle pattern, and the marks on the back of your necks look like fragments."

Aze was silent for a while, as if thinking about how much information to reveal.

The sound of rain outside became quieter. The truck drove over a bumpy road, and the figures of the three people in the car swayed in the dim light.

"The perfume bottle fragment is part of the key." Aze finally said, "The research institute wants to open a door, but they need seven keys - the combined energy of seven different elemental powers.

Project Blue Blood and Project Spark are just part of this larger plan.”

"Seven elements?" Xiao Ran asked, "Water, fire, what else?"

"Wind, earth, metal, wood, and dark," Aze replied. "Each test subject corresponds to an element. Lin Che is water, and X-7—Xiao Yu—is fire."

"What element is darkness?" Su Wanqing frowned.

"Darkness isn't a natural element," Aze explained. "It's a form of energy artificially synthesized by the research institute. It has the ability to devour the energy of other elements. The dark element experiment was the last one created, and it's also the most unstable."

Xiao Ran and Su Wanqing exchanged a glance. This information far exceeded their expectations and made the situation even more complicated.

"What's behind that door?" Xiao Ran asked.

Aze shook his head. "I don't know. The researchers only said it could change the world and bring about a new order. But judging by their expressions and actions, that's definitely not a good thing."

Su Wanqing stared at Aze, trying to judge the truth from his eyes: "Why are you telling us this? Lin Che seems to know nothing about this."

"Because we need your help." Aze looked Su Wanqing straight in the eye. "Lin Che and I don't want to be tools of the research institute. They plan to initiate the final ritual within a week. If successful, all seven elemental test subjects will be sacrificed."

"A week?" Xiao Ran's eyes widened in surprise. "So fast?"

“They caused the rainstorm,” Aze explained, “and the zombie virus as well.

These are all designed to create chaos and reduce outside interference. When people are busy trying to survive, no one will pay attention to the institute’s actions.”

The truck suddenly slowed down and the driver shouted through the partition: "There's a military checkpoint ahead. I can't go any further."
