Chapter 724 Zhu Xiu's Fury
Yan Lie accompanied her to the front and back of Zhu Xiu, feeling the deathly gaze emanating from Zhu Xiu.

Yan Lie felt a chill run down his spine and coughed lightly. "Wanwan has something to say to you. You two have a good chat. Yin Ze and I will go out and wait for you."

Although Yan Lie really wanted Wanwan to care about him the most, he knew he had to do this for the sake of the family's harmony and to avoid making Wanwan sad.

Yin Ze turned around first and silently retreated towards the cave entrance. Yan Lie eventually abandoned some of his selfish thoughts and followed him out.

The two males did not go far away, but simply stayed outside, providing space while also being able to respond to any unexpected situations.

In the dim light, Bai Wan could vaguely see Zhu Xiu sitting on a cold rock with his back to her. His tall figure looked particularly lonely, as if he had become one with the cold stone wall.

He neither looked at her nor spoke, building a high wall with silence.

Bai Wanwan felt a tightness in her chest, but she did not back down.

She took a deep breath and walked step by step toward the back of that figure that exuded an aura of resistance.

Just as she was about to reach him, Zhu Xiu's cold voice rang out again, "Wanwan, leave with Yan Lie."

Bai Wanwan paused, but did not obey.

Instead of backing away, she took a small step forward, then stretched out her arms and gently but firmly wrapped them around Zhu Xiu's lean waist from behind, pressing her cheek against his taut back.

“Zhu Xiu…” Her voice was muffled, filled with deep apology, “I know I was wrong this time, I went too far. I shouldn’t have been so greedy with alcohol, I shouldn’t have… I shouldn’t have accepted Jin Ying under those circumstances. It hurt you, it hurt the chieftain, it hurt all of you.”

She could feel the body she was holding tense up instantly, like a piece of hard, cold iron.

She hugged him tighter, feeling a pang of tenderness, wanting to warm him up.

She rubbed her cheek against his cold animal hide, her voice softening, "It's understandable that you're angry. But... could you come back with me first? The tribe is home; it's too cold here. If you don't want to see me, I can leave you alone for a while and give you some peace and quiet. But don't stay here alone... If you're still angry when we get back, tell me how you want to punish me, or what you want me to do to calm down, and I'll do whatever you say, okay?"

Her tone was pleading.

However, in response to her, Zhu Xiu raised his hand and slowly and firmly pried open her fingers, one by one, which were wrapped around his waist.

The icy coldness and irresistible force emanating from her fingertips sent a chill through Bai Wanwan's heart, as if she had fallen into an ice cave.

Did he push her away because he wanted to leave her?
Almost the instant Zhu Xiu pried open her last finger, Bai Wanwan, with a strength she didn't know she had, not only didn't let go, but instead used all her strength to hug him tightly again, almost embedding herself into his back.

"Zhu Xiu, I won't leave! Let me stay with you..."

"Wanwan." Zhu Xiu's voice sounded deeper and hoarser, as if he was trying his best to suppress some surging emotions. "You go back first."

He was indeed angry; his anger was like smoldering embers, scorching his reason.

But he wasn't unreasonable. He knew that it wasn't that Wanwan had intentionally betrayed them or deliberately wanted to hurt them; it all stemmed from an accident and her soft heart and sense of responsibility.

If it were any other female, why would she try to coax a male? She would just let him run away and become a stray.

He just... can't get over that hurdle in his own heart.

The suffocating feeling of being suddenly thrown off balance and forced to share with other males, along with the loss of more of her attention and time... all these complex emotions twisted into a tangled mess, blocking his heart and preventing him from adjusting his mindset as quickly as other male partners.

He needs time to process these unfamiliar and intense negative emotions on his own.

He was also afraid that he might not be calm enough, and that if his suppressed anger got out of control, he might say something reckless or do something that would hurt her.

Leaving was the only way he could think of to protect her and the relationship.

“I won’t leave!” Bai Wanwan shook her head, her cheek pressed against the fabric of his back. “If you don’t go back, I’ll stay here with you. I’ll stay with you as long as you want…” Her words were like a fine needle, unexpectedly piercing a corner of Zhu Xiu’s hard shell.

"Wanwan, you..." He tried to speak again, but cracks appeared in the ice in his voice, carrying a hint of barely perceptible helplessness.

However, he didn't finish his sentence.

The female in his arms suddenly loosened her grip on his waist.

Zhu Xiu's heart sank, thinking she had given up.

But the next moment, a female appeared in front of him, her beautiful, reddish eyes fixed on him.

Are you still going to kick me out?

After asking the question, Bai Wanwan didn't wait for his answer. She put her soft arm on his shoulder and pulled him down.

Even though her strength was very weak, he was afraid of hurting her, so he bent down to follow her force.

A warm, sweetly fragrant face quickly drew near, and then, soft lips precisely sealed the unspoken, cold words.

Zhu Xiu's breathing became slightly labored.

All sounds and thoughts were stolen away in that instant by the sudden kiss.

The kiss was utterly unskilled, yet it was like a torrent of molten lava that suddenly breached the dam of reason he had been so desperately trying to maintain.

Bai Wanwan knew that words were inadequate at this moment, so she used the most direct and primal way to tell him that she needed him, loved him, and would not let go.

Zhu Xiu remained stiffly in the position of being kissed, his hands clenched into fists at his sides, his knuckles turning white, the tug-of-war between reason and emotion within him reaching its peak.

Push her away? He realized he simply couldn't do it.

Seeing that he didn't react, Bai Wanwan's heart sank even further, and she clung to him completely...

Zhu Xiu gazed deeply into her eyes, which were filled with his reflection. At that moment, it seemed as if her world consisted only of him.

He closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, the raging anger and cold indifference in his eyes receded like the tide, leaving only resigned compromise.

Ultimately, it was his own choice.

From the moment he decided to marry her, he should have understood that she was a holy woman, and a woman of exceptional beauty and temperament.

She must have plenty of males around her.

He couldn't get over his own conscience, so he blamed her.

He gazed at her face and sighed almost inaudibly, a heavy sigh that seemed to lift a thousand-pound burden.

His hand, which had been hanging by his side and clenched into a fist, slowly rose and finally landed on her slender waist and back. He gently embraced her and pulled her closer to him.

Although there were no words, this gesture of returning the hug said it all.

Bai Wanwan's tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and she was overjoyed. She buried her face in his neck and hugged him tightly.
