Chapter 721: Guard against death
"Isn't it obvious!"

Yin Mei put down her water bowl. "I noticed a long time ago that the way Jin Ying looked at you was strange. Only you couldn't see it. Think about it, he risked his life to save you and your beastmen. If he didn't like you, what male would go to such lengths?"

She paused, then continued, "He's capable, has a stable temperament, and is good-looking. What female wouldn't be attracted to a man like that?"

She paused, her jokes fading, and her tone became more serious, "Wanwan, in a life-or-death situation, he's willing to risk his life... You'll see how good a man like that is sooner or later."

Bai Wanwan was slightly taken aback. She might indeed have been trying to ignore him because of her beast husbands.

“I don’t want to hurt him, Sister Yin Mei.” Bai Wanwan lowered her head, her tone somewhat somber. “But… I feel like I’m hurting my other beastmen too. I know they’re unhappy.”

"I know this will take time."

Yin Mei patted the back of her hand, her voice gentle and full of wisdom, "They love you, that's why they care, that's why they can't understand it for a while. But precisely because they love you, they will eventually come to their senses. With another strong and reliable male joining in to protect you and the babies, wouldn't your family be safer and more stable? They will naturally understand this when they calm down."

"Give them some time to process this, and don't neglect the new guy. After all, he's your beast husband now, and you should genuinely accept and care for him."

This frank conversation with Yin Mei was like clearing away some of the fog in my mind.

Bai Wanwan felt much more relaxed, and her pent-up emotions were relieved.

Yoon-mi is right. What's done is done, and there's no use in regretting or running away.

She needs to be more proactive in facing, making amends, and rebuilding balance.

When Bai Wanwan left Yin Mei's house, her steps were noticeably lighter.

Seeing Jin Yi approaching, she took his arm.

"Did you finish talking? Are you feeling better?" Jin Yi keenly noticed her change.

"Hmm! Much better." Bai Wanwan nodded, looked up at him, and her eyes regained their former sparkle.

"This was indeed my fault, and I need to appease you all."

After these past few days, Jin Yi has actually figured things out.

But when he heard that the female was going to coax him, he was actually quite looking forward to it.

"How...are you going to coax me?"

Bai Wanwan turned around to face him, stood on tiptoe and wrapped her arms around his neck, her soft breath brushing against his ear, "However you want me to coax you... I'll coax you however you want, okay?"

Her voice was like a hook, instantly making Jin Yi's breathing falter.

If it weren't for the large number of orcs coming and going here, and Wanwan's shyness, he would have wanted to...

His hands had unconsciously wrapped around her waist, applying slight pressure to make her body press against him.

The sunlight slanted across the village path, casting two intertwined shadows.

Just then, a discordant voice rang out.
"Holy Maiden Bai Wanwan! What a coincidence to meet you. Congratulations on the safe delivery of your cub. Have you fully recovered?"

Bai Wanwan snapped out of her daze and quickly nudged Jin Yi.

Jin Yi, who was about to kiss his beloved female, was clearly unhappy and turned to look at the oblivious male.

The male carries fresh prey on its shoulder, displaying a lithe and agile physique.

He seemed oblivious to the two's intimacy, grinning and greeting them. Bai Wanwan looked up at the sound, seeing the handsome but not entirely familiar face. After a moment's thought, she remembered that this was the kind-hearted tiger-clan male who had offered to help her a few days before she went into labor.

She immediately returned a polite and sincere smile, nodded, and said, "Thank you for your concern. I've recovered quite well. I'm so grateful for your help that day; I haven't had a chance to thank you properly yet."

The gentle smile on her face at that moment was like the warmest sunshine in spring, warming his heart, which had been deprived of sunshine for so long.

He was momentarily stunned, his throat tightened, and he forgot all the other pleasantries he had prepared. He just stared blankly at her smiling face.
My heartbeat has long been out of control.

This was the first time she had faced him without showing any disgust or feigned expression; instead, she wore a genuine smile.

However, his momentary lapse in concentration and the sudden gleam in his eyes, which could not be completely concealed, did not escape the notice of Jin Yi, who stood beside Bai Wanwan and remained vigilant.

Jin Yi narrowed his eyes slightly, his sharp gaze sweeping across the male's face.

Almost instinctively, Jin Yi shifted his feet slightly, his tall body naturally taking half a step forward, just enough to block most of Bai Wanwan's figure behind him, while also cutting off Roger's direct gaze.

With a gentle smile on his face, he said to Bai Wanwan in his usual tone, "Wanwan, it's getting late, we should go back."

His words sounded like a considerate reminder, but his actions subtly drew a clear line between them.

Bai Wanwan was unaware of the silent undercurrent between the two males.

She felt that Jin Yi made sense, so she followed his words and politely smiled and nodded to the man diagonally in front of her, saying, "Then we won't chat any longer, goodbye."

After saying that, she let Jin Yi put his arm around her shoulder and walk back.

Roger stood there, watching her and her beast-husband walk away hand in hand.

The faint light that had just risen because of her smile quickly dimmed, turning into a deep, gloomy darkness.

He came to this tribe, tried hard to integrate, and sought every possible opportunity to get close to her, to help her with even the smallest favor, or to say hello...

After nearly a month of careful management, we've only had two close encounters, and the total number of conversations we exchanged was less than five sentences.

Each time, just like now, it's so brief that she doesn't even have time to leave a trace before being completely separated by her beastly husbands.

As she walked, Bai Wanwan saw Yin Ze by the edge of the field.

Yin Ze had already noticed their arrival, stood up, and patted the dirt off his hands.

When he saw Bai Wanwan approaching, he naturally reached out and took her slightly cool hands into his warm, dry palms, gently rubbing them to warm them up.

"Why did you come all this way? Why didn't you rest at home a little longer?" Yin Ze's voice was like a mountain stream, soothing to the soul.

"I was bored staying at home, so I came out for a walk and happened to see you here." Bai Wanwan let him warm her hands, feeling the familiar warmth of his palms and the slightly rough touch of the calluses.

Seeing this, Jin Yi reached out and patted Yin Ze on the shoulder, "Yin Ze, you stay with Wanwan. I'll go for a walk in the nearby woods and see if there are any fresh mushrooms. I'll make mushroom soup for Wanwan tonight."

“Okay, you go ahead, I’ll look after Wanwan.” Yin Ze nodded in agreement.

Watching Jin Yi's figure disappear swiftly into the nearby woods, Yin Ze finally turned his gaze to his beloved female in front of him.

Before he could speak, Bai Wanwan interjected, "Yin Ze, will you come with me to find Zhu Xiu and the chieftain?"
