Chapter 700 What if I wanted to participate too?

Xin Feng followed her gaze and explained gently, "Maybe you couldn't stay in your room, so you came out to stretch your legs."

That's what they said, but Xin Feng also felt it was a bit strange that Jin Ying was involved, since the males had stakes on the bet.

He knew perfectly well, yet he still said he wanted to play along.

Bai Wanwan nodded, still feeling a bit strange. Chief Rong and Zhu Xiu, who usually weren't very interested in playing cards, were sitting steadily at the card table today, looking very serious.

She keenly sensed something unusual, put down her spoon, and asked curiously, "What's the stakes in your mahjong game today? Why are even Zhuxiu and Qiurong taking it so seriously?"

Yan Lie, who was peeling fruit for her, paused upon hearing this, a hint of unease flashing across his face, his eyes darting left and right. "It's...it's just a casual game, there's no stake..."

Just then, Jin Ying, sitting at the card table, deftly pushed over the cards in front of him. His voice was calm and even, yet it clearly echoed throughout the entire living room: "All suits, single tile, win."

He raised his eyes, glanced at the various men on the table, and calmly announced, "This is the fourth round I've won."

Yan Lie nodded and replied, "That's right! But you're just there to make up the numbers and play along with us! This is a bet between our own people, it doesn't count!"

Today's stakes are extraordinary. The winner gets priority to "cut in line" and get close to Taiwan, while others have to accept being pushed back in the queue.

Even Zhu Xiu and the chieftain personally participated in the effort to seize this opportunity.

When Ember came out for some fresh air, she overheard their bet, even though she knew it wasn't a game she should be involved in.

Even if he beats Wanwan, she will never get close to him, but he still can't help wanting to beat them.

The other males, unaware of his true intentions, gave him a token lesson when they saw he wanted to play, just to make up the numbers.

Who would have thought that not only did he learn quickly, but his luck was also ridiculously good, winning four games in a row right from the start!
The atmosphere at the card table became delicate due to Ember's unexpected four-game winning streak.

Several males instinctively looked at Jinying, but Jinying just sat there quietly, as if unaware that he had unintentionally stirred up a still pond.

After two more rounds, Jin Ying's peripheral vision would occasionally sweep towards Bai Wanwan.

He noticed that apart from glancing at him a few times at the beginning, she spent the rest of the time speaking softly to the beastman next to her, her eyes gentle and smiling.

He suddenly felt extremely bored.

What good would winning do?
He slowly put down the cards in his hand, his voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible frustration: "I'm a little tired, you guys play."

As he spoke, he stood up, supporting himself on the edge of the stone table, and gave up his seat.

His standing up was exactly what the male next to him who hadn't yet sat down at the table wanted.

They all wanted to be first, which meant having another chance to get closer to Wanwan.

The game immediately became heated. Zhu Xiu calmly drew his cards, Qiu Rong was good at calculating, Yan Lie was loud and boisterous, and Jin Yi was waiting for an opportunity to strike. The battle reignited.

After finishing her breakfast, Bai Wanwan strolled over to the card table and watched for a while.

She couldn't help but smile as she watched her beast husbands, some deep in thought and others determined to succeed.

She enjoys these warm and happy family activities.

He reached out and tidied the perfectly styled hair on Zhu's forehead, then patted Yan Lie's shoulder, which was tense with excitement, receiving a deep or passionate response in return.

After watching for a while, she suddenly remembered her father, the beast Jiao Yuan, who was still resting in the house. She wondered how he was doing after being caught in the rain yesterday, so she got up and prepared to go in to check on him.

Seeing this, Xin Feng, who had been watching her closely, put down the ingredients he was holding and prepared to follow. Bai Wanwan, however, grabbed his wrist and said softly, "I can go by myself. We're all at home, what could possibly happen? Let's play together." She pointed to the lively card table.

Xin Feng saw that she really didn't want him to follow, and since all the males were there, nothing would happen.

"Okay, then call me if you need anything."

Bai Wanwan walked into the inner room alone.

Jiaoyuan was still asleep, his breathing was heavy, and his complexion was worse than yesterday. Clearly, the rain and emotional fluctuations had affected his recovery.

I reached out and touched his forehead; thankfully, he didn't have a fever.

After carefully tucking him in, her gaze turned to Jinying on the cot beside her.

He was sitting with his eyes closed, trying to rest, but his tightly pursed lips and the emotions between his brows couldn't be hidden.

Sensing that he was not happy, Bai Wanwan hesitated for a moment, but still walked towards him.

"How are you feeling?" she asked softly.

Jin Ying opened his eyes, his voice steady: "It's fine."

Bai Wanwan was a little worried, so she raised her hand and gently touched his forehead with the back of her hand.

The instant her fingertips touched his skin, something seemed to surge violently deep within his usually calm eyes, like ripples spreading across a deep pool after a stone has been thrown in, but he forcefully suppressed it, so quickly that it was almost an illusion.

Bai Wanwan withdrew her hand, her tone filled with concern, "Your injuries are too severe. Until you are fully recovered, you should stay here and rest. It's rainy and cold outside. If you go back and get caught in the rain or are not properly cared for, your wounds may become infected and worsen, which would be troublesome."

Jin Ying's gaze had been following her the whole time. Upon hearing this, he simply responded with a soft "Mm".

There was no discernible emotion in that voice.

After giving her instructions, Bai Wanwan felt that everything was fine and prepared to turn around and leave.

However, just as she took a step, Jin Ying's deep voice came from behind her, carrying a hint of barely perceptible stubbornness:

“I just played mahjong and won four hands.” He paused, as if organizing his thoughts, before continuing, “But your beastmen don’t seem to have any intention of honoring their bets.”

Bai Wanwan paused, hesitated, and turned around, a hint of confusion on her face: "Hmm? What's the bet?"

Jin Ying didn't answer directly, but stared intently at her face with his eyes, something in them wanting to break free of its restraint.

Looking at his focused gaze, and recalling Yan Lie's stammering manner earlier, as well as Zhu Xiu and Qiu Rong's unprecedented serious participation in the card game... a highly probable guess instantly surfaced in Bai Wanwan's mind!

A slight blush crept onto her cheeks. There were outsiders in the house, yet they still acted so recklessly.

She coughed lightly, trying to cover it up:
"Cough... They're just messing around. Don't take it seriously, and don't get involved in their... nonsense bets."

After she finished speaking, feeling that she had given an explanation, she turned around and continued walking towards the door.

However, before he even reached the door, Jin Ying's voice came from behind him again.

It was clearer than before, and carried a tentative, almost direct questioning tone:

"What if... I want to participate?"
