Chapter 417 Young Craftsmen
Noticing Leon wiping his sweat, Sophia awkwardly adjusted the position of the shotgun behind her so that it was completely hidden behind her, and then walked in front of Leon.
"I didn't mean to scare you, but few people come here, and it's a remote place, so I can only prepare a hunting rifle to protect myself."
"I understand, but I'm curious about where you got your gun. After all, I also wanted to buy one, but it seemed inconvenient for people to sell it to me." Leon shook his head and comforted Sophia, while asking about the shotgun.
"I asked someone to help me. You know the Far Travel Chamber of Commerce. They helped me get a gun license and purchase firearms." Sophia explained.
"The Far Traveling Chamber of Commerce? They can even sell this stuff, they are indeed a big chamber of commerce." Lyon was no longer surprised when he heard the name of the Far Traveling Chamber of Commerce.
"Actually, if you want to prepare a firearm like this for yourself, you can also apply to the Far Travel Chamber of Commerce to help with the paperwork. Farmers like us are generally protected by policies. If you apply for the safety of your farm, it's easy to get approval and a gun license. Then, you can stockpile no more than three firearms on your farm."
Sophia continued to explain to Leon.
"That's great. Next time I'll contact Django to see if I can get a few." Leon became interested immediately after hearing this. Although guns don't do much damage to monsters, how many men don't love guns?
Before, Lyon had only played with the Beretta 87 semi-automatic pistol at the shooting range. Although the shooting results were a mess, after that time, Lyon really developed a strong interest in guns. Now that he had the opportunity to prepare a gun at home, how could Lyon not be tempted.
"Actually, I don't think you need these at all." Sophia looked at Leon's excited expression and couldn't help but complain.
"Of course I don't need it. I'm just an ordinary farmer. If a desperate bandit comes to my farm to borrow money, I won't be in trouble if I have no defense?" Lyon retorted righteously.
"Uncle Gus told me about the adventure you had at sea. Not only could you attract the protection of mermaid warriors, but you could also fight a giant python dozens of meters long in the sea and kill it without any injury. If such a person can call himself an ordinary person, then what are we, the real ordinary people, then?" Sophia rolled her eyes and complained at Leon.
"Gus is exaggerating. I am just playing a supporting role. The main force is still those mermaid warriors." Leon added humbly to Sophia.
Sophia didn't say anything, but turned back into the house and put down the shotgun. After a moment, she walked out of the house with a puzzled look on her face and asked Leon: "Why are you standing outside? Don't you want to come in and have a cup of tea?"
"Oh, here it comes." Leon finally reacted. He had thought that Sophia thought he was showing off, so she didn't plan to continue chatting with him.
It was only when Leon entered the villa that he noticed the luxury of the house. There were brand new solid wood floors and the finely crafted plush carpets with patterns on them. Not only were there many new pieces of furniture in the living room, but also all kinds of valuable paintings were hung casually on the walls.
Moreover, the living room alone was larger than Lyon's cabin, which made Lyon feel mixed emotions.
It was the same old house, and Robin had helped renovate it, so why was his room so small? Was this the difference between paying for something and getting it for free?
"Sit down first. Do you want juice or coffee?" Sophia looked at Leon standing at the door and looking around. She helplessly led Leon to sit on the sofa in the living room, then walked to the kitchen and rummaged through the refrigerator and shouted at Leon.
"Juice, I don't drink coffee." Leon responded.
"Give."
Soon, Sophia brought a bottle of ice-cold dark purple juice and handed it to Leon, then sat on the sofa opposite Leon.
"By the way, thank you for the housewarming gift you asked Gus to bring last time. I haven't seen any pike in a long time. They are really cute."
Sophia sat down and started chatting with Leon.
"As long as you like it." Hearing this, Leon felt a little helpless. He had clearly told Gus not to count this favor on him, but he did it anyway. Listening to Leon's words, Sophia nodded and said nothing more.
Leon didn't know what to say, so the atmosphere suddenly became stiff and silence became the main theme of the scene.
After sitting there for three or four minutes, Leon was the first to lose patience with the strange atmosphere and immediately said, "I see you've already started setting up the grape trellises. Are you planning to continue developing a wine industry in Stardew Valley?"
"Yeah." Sophia responded and then spoke.
“Although I’m not short of money anymore, many people love Blue Moon wine, so I don’t want to disappoint them.”
"Remember last time you said you would teach me how to make wine? If it's convenient, I would like to learn from you." Lyon put forward his own idea after hearing that.
Sophia didn't refuse, but she still explained the situation to Leon in advance: "Okay, but the grapes haven't been planted yet, and I don't have any fresh grapes on hand, so I can't demonstrate it to you. I can only take you through the winemaking steps and tell you some details that need attention."
"It's okay, learn as much as you can." Leon nodded and added.
"Then come with me."
Sophia nodded, then stood up and took Leon to a small door in the corridor next to the kitchen in the house. After opening it with the key, she took Leon down the stairs into the cellar and turned on the lights.
Under the light, Lyon saw a large number of oak barrels more than one meter high neatly arranged in the center of the cellar. On the shelves on the surrounding walls, there were boxes filled with empty bottles that had not yet been filled with wine.
Then Sophia took Leon on a tour and demonstrated without any physical objects how to ferment the grapes, filter the pomace, and seal it in barrels for secondary fermentation, as well as some details and issues that need attention.
Sophia basically did not miss any details, and explained every detail in a very detailed and clear manner.
Leon realized that this young-looking girl was really knowledgeable in winemaking.
After the explanation, Sophia also taught Leon the techniques of wine packaging and how to preserve it.
Leon benefited a lot from the one and a half hour private lessons, and Sophia was also talking until her mouth was dry. So after the class, the two left the cellar. Sophia found a bottle of juice from the refrigerator and drank it in one gulp.
When she felt the dryness in her throat ease a lot, Sophia asked Leon, "How is it? How much did you remember?"
"I've basically remembered it all. Thank you, Sophia. You're really an excellent winemaker." Leon replied.
"I just do it more, and it's mainly based on the skills my parents taught me." Sophia answered, waving her hands, but she suddenly fell silent when she mentioned her deceased parents.
Leon looked at Sophia, whose expression suddenly became a little sad, and realized that Sophia must have thought of the deepest wound in her heart, so he immediately changed the subject.
"By the way, where is that little pike? I want to see it."
