Chapter 125 My strength is honesty
Chapter 125 My strength is honesty
“You’re back.” Seeing Leon hurried into the kitchen, Emily thought he was worried about the beef that was still stewing, so she quickly comforted him, “I’m watching it, there’s nothing wrong.”
"Emily, help me stop Haley." Leon hid behind Emily and said.
"Huh?" Emily turned back blankly, obviously not quite understanding what Leon meant.
But soon, she understood the meaning of this sentence.
Because Haley had already entered the kitchen, with her fists clenched, staring at Leon behind her.
"What happened?" Emily asked in confusion, looking at Haley's red face and fighting stance.
“Nothing.” With Emily present, Haley couldn’t tell her what had just happened. She just glared at Leon fiercely: “I just found a bug in the house, so I came over to see if the bug had entered the kitchen.”
"Then why did Leon ask me to stop you?" Emily was still quite confused. After all, if it was a bug, what did it have to do with Leon?
"Because I was worried that she would rush in looking for bugs and make a mess in the kitchen." Since Haley didn't bring up the embarrassing incident before, Leon just followed Haley's reason.
"I see. Okay, Haley, I don't see any bugs in the kitchen, so you should go out first. There are already two people here, and there won't be room for one more."
Although Emily still didn't quite understand, since both of them said so, she didn't care about it anymore.
"So how long will it take you to finish this?" Haley asked Emily after regaining her normal composure.
"You'll have to ask Leon, he's the head chef today," Emily replied.
“Well, just prepare one more dish.” Lyon replied.
"Okay." After Haley got the answer, she left the kitchen directly. But before leaving, Leon noticed that Haley made a small fist gesture towards him and couldn't help but sigh.
"What's wrong with you?" Emily became confused again when she heard Leon sigh.
"It's nothing, just a little stuffy. Let's prepare the last dish quickly, otherwise the previous ones will get cold." Leon said casually, then lit the fire again and started cooking.
Soon, Leon finished the last dish of spicy crab, and then he and Emily carried the dishes out of the kitchen.
Haley was not idle at this time. She had arranged the tableware in advance and pulled out chairs. Two of the chairs were on one side of the dining table, and another independent chair was on the opposite side of the dining table.
After Leon and Emily put the dishes on the table, Haley immediately pulled Emily to sit in two adjacent seats, and then signaled Leon with her eyes to sit opposite.
Leon had no objection. After all, if he sat alone in the double seat, he would feel uncomfortable no matter if Emily or Haley was sitting next to him.
"Look, these are all made by Leon, aren't they great?" After sitting down, Emily began to praise Leon to Haley.
"Yeah." Although she was still a little angry with Leon, to be fair, the dishes on the table looked very good and smelled delicious. Before tasting them, Haley couldn't find any fault.
"Then let's have dinner together. I've been looking forward to it for a long time." Emily urged.
"Okay." Leon and Haley nodded together, and then they began to choose the dishes they were most interested in and stretched out their forks.
Emily chose the steaming hot beef stew with potatoes, while Haley set her sights on the spicy crab.
In addition, there are stir-fried broccoli, flavored eggplant boxes, fried mushrooms and Kung Pao chicken, which are all common home-cooked dishes cooked by Lyon based on the ingredients prepared by Emily.
In fact, Emily had prepared more ingredients than these, but Leon had her seal them up and put them in the refrigerator. Six dishes for three people was already excessive, and this wasn't a restaurant, it was a family dinner, so the portions were very large. Even with these six dishes, Leon wasn't sure if the three of them could finish them. At the same time, before the two began to taste, Leon didn't move his knife and fork, but quietly watched them eat, waiting for their comments.
"Woo, woo, woo, it's so hot, but the beef is cooked until very tender and tasty, and the potatoes that have absorbed the beef broth taste super good." Emily was the first to comment on the beef stew with potatoes.
"This crab is very spicy, but it's delicious." Haley also gave a positive comment, but it was a little bland.
Lyon breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the two of them were not uncomfortable with the Chinese food he cooked.
After all, people have different eating habits and tastes vary quite a bit. Now that it has been confirmed that Emily and Haley are not affected in this regard, Leon can finally enjoy his own cooking with peace of mind.
Although Emily and Haley seemed to enjoy the meal, Leon was a little disappointed after tasting it. Emily's kitchen was missing a lot of the ingredients he needed, resulting in the taste not meeting his expectations, which made Leon very regretful.
Moreover, it is really not suitable to use a frying pan for stir-frying. It is not very suitable for flipping the wok, and the edges are too shallow, which can easily cause the ingredients to fall out and cause an embarrassing situation, making it difficult for Lyon to stir-fry.
Overall, according to Lyon's understanding of his cooking skills, he only used 70% of his skills in this meal.
However, seeing that Haley and Emily were enjoying their meal, Leon didn't dwell on this issue anymore. He would make up for these regrets next time after he was fully prepared.
After all, reciprocity is a fine tradition, and Leon will have to return the favor sooner or later for the meal Emily invited him to.
Just as Leon was about to eat in peace, he suddenly felt a light hit on his calf under the table. He was stunned for a moment, and then his eyes were fixed on Haley.
Sure enough, when Leon's eyes fell on Haley, Haley responded to him with a provocative look. It was obvious that it was Haley who had just stabbed someone under the table.
"Childish." Without making any sound, Leon just mouthed the word to Haley, and then he saw Haley clenching her knife and fork in anger.
Then Leon clearly felt the vibration coming from under the chair. Fortunately, he had retracted his legs before he complained about Haley, so Haley's attack missed.
Haley, who didn't kick Leon, looked a little painful. It was obvious that when the chair shook just now, Haley kicked a hard bone.
"What's wrong?" Emily noticed Haley's strange behavior and asked.
"It's a bit too spicy." Haley certainly didn't dare to admit the embarrassing fact that she didn't kick Leon but kicked the chair leg instead, so she had to put the blame on Leon's spicy crab.
"I'll get you a glass of milk." Emily immediately stood up and went to get Haley some dairy products that could relieve the spiciness. Taking this opportunity, Haley whispered to Leon, "Why are you hiding?"
"Why can't I hide?" Leon asked back.
"This is the price you have to pay." Haley replied through gritted teeth.
"I didn't take the initiative to peek. You just put it there openly, and I accidentally saw it. Is this my fault?" Lyon complained.
"I'm angry because of what you said! Can't you just keep saying you didn't notice? Even if you're lying to me."
"Sorry, my best quality is honesty."
"Humph!"
