Chapter 351 Mission: 05-3 Return
In the blink of an eye, the sky was already dim with moon and stars.
"What the hell!"
Dante sat slumped on a bench by the street, sipping his "vitality drink" in his hand. As the ice in the cup clinked, he made a sound full of resentment: "I've never heard that the reason for 'leaving now' is because we have to walk on our own two feet!"
"That can't be helped." Nero, who was sitting next to him, chewed on a cold burger and replied leisurely, "After all, your RV is gone..."
Dante immediately turned his head, glaring angrily, "Do you want to think carefully about why it disappeared?"
"Have I already compensated you for the money? Or was that actually a parting gift from your first love? Oh, I'm so sorry."
"Shut up, you."
Dante casually threw the empty cup on the street and slumped down in a chair as if he had lost all his bones. "I don't have any 'first love', but I do have a lot of women I can talk to you about."
"All of them are nightclub girls? Then you are pretty miserable."
"Shit! I shouldn't have mentioned that."
After walking for almost a whole day, the two of them had become quite familiar with each other, even bickering, and could be considered to be more or less friends. Although their words mostly attacked each other, overall they got along quite well.
Nero was sincere in saying that Dante in this world was miserable - compared to Dante in another world who lived a carefree and comfortable life, even to the point of being uninterested in women, Dante in this world was indeed quite miserable.
However, since the topic of "misery" has been brought up, Dante also took the opportunity to ask questions about the economy:
"How come you have hidden gold bars everywhere you go? Are they real?"
"Replacement guaranteed."
The two men walked along the way, and the money they spent on the road was all the little cash that Dante had left, while Nero took out a lot of precious metals intermittently under the excuse of "I hid money nearby". Some of them fell into Dante's pocket for various reasons, and the rest were still with Nero.
Unlike the uncultured Dante, Nero politely tucked the leftover paper from the burger and Dante's empty cup into the trash can. Then, looking down at the useless Dante, she put her hands on her hips and said, "It's time to move on."
"well……"
Dante sighed weakly and climbed up from the bench.
They were very close to the secret prison from which Nero had escaped.
Not long after, Nero and Dante arrived at the hidden garage. The traces of damage from Limbo still remained on the shutter door, and the interior remained the same, as if it hadn't been used in a long time.
But there wasn't much dust on the ground. Of course it was; otherwise, the obvious footprints would have aroused suspicion more than this strange detail. Nero reached out and touched the wall where the mechanism was hidden, then took a step back and looked at Dante.
"This should be the place. Come here," Nero said.
"Why should I come? Aren't you quite strong?"
"I don't think so."
Nero said this, pretending to push the wall hard, then turned to look at Dante and spread his hands. What he meant was: You see, I just don't have the strength, right?
Dante folded his hands and remained motionless: "If I believe you, there must be something fishy."
"Then why resist? It's just a matter of taking out the sword and slashing twice."
"Because I'm lazy." Dante answered confidently.
"Okay." Hearing his determination, Nero curled his lips helplessly, pulled out the blade from his cane, and began to punch holes in the wall bit by bit. One, two, three...
The empty hammering sound echoed regularly in the garage, and by the tenth hammering, Dante couldn't bear it any longer.
"Fuck! Did you do this on purpose?"
"But I really can't open it." Nero turned around and looked at the angry Dante with an innocent face.
"Can't you conjure up a black hand? Wouldn't that be enough to get the job done in no time?"
"That should be used sparingly." Nero answered righteously.
Okay, she lied. The Wrath Stone that had been removed was indeed limited in power, but it had surely fully recovered after so long. Nero's reluctance to use it here was mainly due to the fact that using it would make her feel bad. All the bad things that had happened before would flood back into her mind, along with her anger, making her want to hit someone. There didn't seem to be any demons nearby, so Dante would probably be the one to suffer.
The smell of angry smoke was unpleasant, even for her. She had finally gotten rid of the strange smell on her body, and she didn't want to waste her efforts so quickly.
"I really believed your lies."
Dante finally gave in. He materialized the "Rebellion" sword over his red-gray coat and struck without warning.
"Boom!"
It seems that Nero still underestimated Dante's brute strength. He only took one blow to completely knock down the wall in front of him, and there was no need for a second blow.
"Cough, cough."
Smoke and dust spread everywhere. Nero covered his mouth and nose and quickly retreated, a lot of wall dust falling on him. Dante, the instigator, twisted his neck and walked in nonchalantly.
As the smoke and dust gradually settled, the hidden space behind the wall gradually became clear. Nero hadn't been able to observe it carefully during her previous two visits. Behind the small hall where she was captured was a passage with several bends, the red bricks exposed, and a rather rough style.
There were surveillance cameras installed in every corner of the passage. Nero looked up at them, and they twisted their heads to look at Nero - this proved that there was someone on the other end who was looking at Nero through the screen.
Could that be Virgil?
Nero flashed a flawless smile towards the camera. Then she waved hello, quickly turned the corner, and caught up with Dante.
A faint smell of blood wafted from the depths of this secret base.
Nero realized something and subconsciously slowed his pace. Dante was even more reckless and rushed deep into the prison, but fortunately, the people who left here did not set any dangerous traps.
Perhaps he also felt that traps were of little significance to demons.
Nero walked silently into the prison where he had been imprisoned and patted Dante on the shoulder. Dante subconsciously turned around and chopped, but when he saw it was Nero, he put away his knife.
"...Don't show up behind me if there's nothing wrong." He frowned and put away his stance.
"You're the one who left me behind."
Nero retorted, turning his head to look around.
This prison was obviously abandoned, and there was no living person inside.
What this meant was that there were still dead bodies. Several mutilated bodies, shot to pieces by gunfire, were scattered across the various cells, emitting a fresh, bloody scent.
