Chapter 235 Mission: 01-3 Admission Interview
"Boom, boom, boom."

Three steady knocks echoed from behind the door, as if to indicate that the visitor was polite and well-mannered. Hilbert Jean Ange waited silently for three seconds without saying a word. Only after hearing the door downstairs being pushed open did he exhale a puff of smoke and extinguish his cigar.

Despite officially turning 130 last year, the old man remained restless. It was practically impossible for him to spend an entire day quietly in the principal's office. So, naturally, he'd boiled a pot of water and lit a cigar early, waiting for a guest who had already made an appointment.

While waiting for the visitor to come upstairs, he opened the window to dispel the cigarette smoke, closed the book he was reading, and, as the kettle gurgled, stood in front of the full-length mirror to adjust his appearance again. The man in the mirror had white hair meticulously draped behind his head, a black suit that fitted him well, his eyes gentle yet imposing, and he possessed the amazing energy and spirit of a young man.

He returned to the table, took out a bright red rose from the vase, pinned it to his chest, and sat down again.

The guests who came here also stepped onto the second floor at the same time.

"Hello, Principal Angers."

The blonde girl came to the desk, knelt down and saluted, lifting the hem of her bright skirt with both hands.

"Welcome." Ange carried the steaming cup of tea to the other end of the desk, smiled, and gestured, "Please sit down."

"excuse me."

The girl sat down across from Ange and introduced herself: "Nice to meet you. My name is Nero Fortuna."

"I know. I've read your recommendation. Honestly, it's amazing."

Nero remained silent, his gaze fixed on Ange's face. After a brief pause, Ange naturally continued, "The school director who recommended you believes you have the potential to be rated 'S'. It's been a long time since we've encountered such a talented young person worthy of such serious consideration. This is truly a cause for joy."

"Aren't you worried that I'm all show and no substance?" Nero asked calmly.

"If the description of your abilities is entirely true, I'd be worried you're too dangerous."

Ange let out a long sigh and stared at the girl in front of him who looked so helpless: "That's why I dare not give you the title of 'S' class. If an 'S' class falls into the deadpool, no one in the academy will be able to withstand that kind of blow."

After all, while A-level bloodlines weren't as numerous as the hairs on a cow, they weren't rare in this academy. And at this point in time, there wasn't even a single "S"—except for Angers.

If such a being were to emerge, it would inevitably assume the role of leader. If it were to fall into the role of Deadpool and side with the dragon, it would not only be a huge blow to everyone involved, but would also directly shake the positions of all those associated with the letter "S."

For both public and private reasons, Angers cannot take this risk.

"I understand."

Fortunately, the girl was easy to talk to: "Besides, I don't need this kind of empty reputation."

This answer made Ange feel relieved, but it also sparked a sense of doubt and curiosity. He leaned forward, his eyes meeting Nero's. "Then, may I ask, what do you hope to gain by coming to the academy?"

"So we're back to the entrance interview?" The girl's joke made Ange smile. In the relaxed atmosphere, she said, "What would you think if I said it was to gain more power?"

"Then I'll have to reconsider my decision to allow you to enroll," Ange replied half-jokingly, "because that answer sounds more like a dragon than a human. Besides, your strength seems to have surpassed that of most of the next generation, and even I can't imagine there's much room for improvement."

"That's truly regrettable." This time, the girl thought carefully before answering, "If I had to say... it's to 'protect the world'."

This answer jumped from one extreme to another in such a sudden manner that even Ange was surprised: "That's really... really amazing. Do you have an uncle named Ben?"

"But unfortunately, I can't conjure spider silk." Nero picked up the old joke and turned around to follow up with his explanation: "But how should I put it... This is indeed related to my uncle. It is one of his wishes."

Without waiting for Ange's answer, she continued, "I didn't expect the principal also likes to read hero comics?"

The girl tilted her head, her golden hair falling on her shoulders in the sunlight, and her smile was so beautiful that it made people feel that time had slowed down.

Ange slowly relaxed and turned the topic back to small talk. "To interact with students, of course I have to be familiar with current trends. This job sometimes makes me feel like I'm still young. But if that's the case, then there must be someone else who likes it? Is it you, or your uncle?"

"It's my uncle. By the way, he really likes sundaes, strawberry flavored."

"I can see you have a good relationship. But I prefer the lemon flavor. Maybe you should let him try it next time."

The fragrant black tea slowly disappeared from the cup, and the lingering white mist gradually dissipated. Angers picked up the teacup and took a sip, then turned the conversation to the girl herself. "I remember the information said you were seventeen years old?"

Nero answered honestly, "My actual age is sixteen, but I should be seventeen soon."

"Don't you think it's a little too early to go to college at this age?"

"Really? I thought the courses at Kassel Academy weren't that difficult."

Ange laughed. "Of course it's not difficult, but that's only for those who have completed basic education. Although Cassel teaches about dragons, it doesn't mean that the knowledge learned in middle school is useless.

"I'm also the instructor of the course 'Dragon Family Trees' at the academy, and I can say responsibly that this course requires a good understanding of world history."

"Then you don't have to worry about that. I remember my transcript should be in the file too. It looks pretty good."

Nero was right, but Ange was not worried about that.

"Indeed, I saw it, and it's very beautiful. But Cassel is an academy born for war after all. If they really want to send underage girls to the battlefield, it's bound to make an old guy like me feel uneasy."

Ange sighed and finally put down the empty teacup in his hand. "There are still several months before the new students start school. I hope you can think it over carefully - don't let yourself regret it."

The girl sitting opposite him nodded obediently: "Thank you for your concern."

Ange stood up to refill his tea. When he turned around to ask Nero, he froze and changed his words:

"So, are you interested in joining our college's preparatory class?"
