I am a master in India

Chapter 64 Do you like women’s feet?
Ron and Kaavia weren't exactly acquainted; they'd only met for drinks at Leopold's a few times.
But she has a cheerful personality and can tell you all kinds of jokes generously. This is very different from other Indian women, perhaps because she studied abroad.
Her honey-colored eyes, speckled with gold, looked Ron up and down at his invitation.
After a forensic examination, he still seemed a little uneasy.
"Brother, is this your excuse? You like my plunging neckline, right? It's also your weakness, yaar."
"I can't say no against my will, but this has nothing to do with the weakness. I'm really interested in that piece of land."
"If you have that idea, I will beat you up, brother."
"Okay, my bus is right there. Let's pick a quiet spot and talk slowly. Talk about whatever you want, like complaining about some perverted politician."
"You're really good at persuasion." Kavya tightened her collar.
"Let's go."
Forty minutes later, the two of them were sitting in Kavia's fourth-floor, walk-up apartment. It was located on the edge of the fortress, near the Flora Fountain. It was surprisingly close to where Ron lived, so he decided to go sit down.
The apartment was cramped, with a fold-out bed, a basic kitchen, and hundreds of noisy neighbors.
But there was a wonderful bathroom, big enough for a washer and dryer without feeling cramped, and a balcony, enclosed by an antique wrought-iron fence, overlooking a wide, bustling square near the Flora Fountain.
"What would you like to drink, tea or coffee?"
"Just tea."
Ron looked around her room. There was a large, messy table under the window sill, with pens, notepads, and a tape recorder on it.
Soon Kavya came over with a cup of tea. She had changed her clothes. Now she was wearing a vest and loose, cuffed pants. She walked with a graceful, quick gait and a firm gaze that did not flatter anyone.
Ron admitted that Kaavia was beautiful in this state, more beautiful than he had ever seen her.
"Why do you think that?" she asked.
"what?"
"Do you want to develop real estate on that piece of land? Build apartments or a shopping mall?"
"Do you have any misunderstanding about me? Do I look like a rich person?"
"That doesn't make sense at all," Kavya said, sitting cross-legged in an armchair. "Land transactions in Mumbai right now are all centered around real estate development. Many people think there's a lot of money to be made, and you know, the economy is likely to improve in the future."
"Yes, since the licensing system was abolished last year, a large number of people have flocked to various industries. But I didn't buy the land for real estate. I wanted to try my hand at manufacturing."
"Oh, that's a surprise. What do you want to do? I mean, which industry do you plan to enter?" Kavya was surprised. From the businessmen she had contacted, few people were interested in manufacturing, as this kind of business did not make money so quickly.
"Probably cheap electrical appliances like fans, radios, phones. It all depends on which one is easier to make money on. Anyway, it's always a good idea to plan ahead. Land in Mumbai is only going to get more expensive."
"I thought you were going into high-tech, like televisions or air conditioners. Every Indian family wants a television these days."
"Don't be silly," Ron said with a self-deprecating smile, "I don't have the ability to build that thing right now, so of course I'll just make it as simple as possible. Even if I can't do it, the loss won't be too big."
"That's right. Even if you change your mind and want to quit manufacturing later, you might be able to make a fortune by selling the land in a few years." She stretched her legs barefoot and adjusted herself into a comfortable position.
"So...what do you think?" Ron's eyes were unconsciously attracted by her saffron-colored nail polish, which dotted between her tender toes, appearing and disappearing from time to time, playful and smart.
"I don't think so, buddy. Do you like women's feet?" She stared at Ron as if she had discovered some secret.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to. But they are really beautiful, and people are always easily attracted to beautiful things..." "Men are really perverts! Bro, the way you looked at my toes just now is the same as when Lal looked at my plunging V-neck! Women's toes are your weakness, right?"
Ron just raised his hands in surrender. There was no point in explaining such a thing. The more he explained, the more confusing it became.
"Since I'm asking this sincerely, please be kind and let's move on from this topic."
"You are much less courageous than Lal, but I hate his rudeness!" Kavya laughed as if what just happened was just a prank.
"But seriously, I think the people who are going into real estate now are either stupid or they've smoked too much marijuana and are hallucinating," she criticized bluntly.
"Are you not optimistic about the development of Mumbai?" Ron asked.
"Of course I am optimistic, but not now. India is too poor and no one can afford to buy a house. Do you know how much my monthly salary is? Less than 4,000 rupees.
The apartment we're staying in right now costs at least 30 rupees! It's impossible to save that much money living in Mumbai. It's a vicious cycle. There's no way around it!
Ron knew Kavya was right, and even that was the most optimistic scenario. As a journalist, she was already considered a high-income earner in Mumbai, a true social elite.
There are many ordinary people on the street whose income is less than 1,000 rupees. For them, even renting a house is a problem, let alone buying one.
"It seems I don't have to worry about losses because I don't plan to do real estate." Ron shrugged optimistically.
"Speaking of that piece of land..." She stood up and walked over to the large, messy table and began to search through it.
Soon, several newspapers and notes covered with handwriting were picked out.
"The textile factory owner is called Sharma. His factory was officially declared bankrupt in June. However, due to debt and worker issues, the formalities have been stalled.
There were rumors that he owed the bank crores of rupees, and the workers were not going to let him go because he hadn't paid them wages for several months. Now the gangs were eyeing the land again, so he disappeared.
"Disappeared?" Ron sighed secretly. He didn't like things that were out of context.
"To be more precise, he's in hiding. You know, none of these troubles are easy to deal with. When Indians get mad, they get really mad. Those angry workers will drag him into the streets."
Indeed, Ron has been convinced of this ever since he experienced a taxi accident.
"But there are also reports that he's privately looking for a buyer. The root of the problem is money. Only by selling the land can he have room to maneuver. The equipment in the textile factory has long been sold, and now only the land is left."
"Can you contact him?" Ron looked at her hopefully.
“You expect a lot from me,” Kavya muttered.
"I know, but I don't know anyone else besides you who can give me accurate information."
"I'm asking around for you, but I'm just a trainee reporter. I need a plunging neckline to get an interview. It won't happen that fast."
"I don't mean to rush you, just let me know if there's any news."
"No problem, but buying land will cost a fortune. Man, just looking at the numbers makes me breathless."
"I'll think of a way. You know, I recently hosted a tour group and might have made a small profit."
At this point, Ron couldn't wait to go back and settle the accounts. Smith's students would fly to Goa tomorrow morning, and his reception work had been completed.
Now it's time to take stock of the piggy bank.
PS: It will be released on Wednesday morning, and the manuscript is ready (speak loudly!).
