Chapter 82 Edward's Bizarre Adventure
Chapter 82 Edward's Bizarre Adventure
Edward didn't expect Cohen to agree so quickly.
"When do we leave?" Cohen asked.
"The departure date is scheduled for the end of July, so there's no rush." Edward turned the steering wheel and said, "Remember to bring the Earl with you—have him tell us if there's anything."
"It's strange to say, you were able to buy the most magical owl for the least money. I've never seen a talking owl before. I'm sure a lot of young wizards at school are jealous of it," Edward chatted. "There are very few magical animals that can talk, and even fewer that can be kept at home."
"be envious?"
Cohen felt that Edward might have a slight misunderstanding about the Earl.
"No child would like an owl that talks nonsense all day long. I kept it purely out of kindness, to prevent it from going out and teasing other little wizards."
But this statement is not entirely true. Although the Earl is a chatterbox, he can sometimes be quite entertaining.
Another reason why Cohen continued to raise the Earl was that he could use it as a backup weapon for sneak attacks - no one would have thought that an owl could cast spells.
For this purpose, Cohen specially made a small pocket for the earl to hold his wand and placed it on the earl's right paw.
Back home, Cohen gave Edward a little first-grade shock—he took Edward into his box.
"What's so mysterious?"
Edward asked curiously after Cohen suggested there was a surprise in the box.
"Merlin's pants..."
After being pushed into the box by Cohen, when the dizziness disappeared, Edward was instantly stunned by the huge area in the box.
"This traceless extension spell - this sky - where did you get it from?!" Edward said in shock.
"Professor Dumbledore helped build this box. It's convenient for Hagrid and I to keep our things here." Cohen put the blame on Dumbledore. "Remember not to tell anyone about what's going on here. It's illegal. You don't want Dumbledore to remember you because of this, do you?"
"That's it..."
It seems that this statement is easier for Edward to accept. If it were Dumbledore, it wouldn't be surprising if he came up with something exaggerated...
Cohen planned to take Edward to see the house first, and the two came to the door of the cabin.
"Did they also use a strong shock-absorbing charm and an isolation charm? I didn't see any signs of turbulence, and the traceless extension charm shouldn't be that strong..."
After being surprised, Edward began to develop a strong interest in the structure of the box.
He found the house in the box to be a stroke of genius.
"This isn't the first one. Professor Dumbledore said one of his students, Newt, also has a portable base like this—to raise some magical beasts," Cohen reminded him. "That's Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
"So what do you raise here? Or... what do you plan to raise?"
Edward asked Cohen expectantly. He didn't see any animals wandering around here just now. Apart from this house, there was only a hill with a cave.
"I remember that the gamekeeper Hagrid liked large animals very much. You won't keep any here--" Edward was originally planning to make a joke about the dragon, but suddenly, he felt that there was a giant creature approaching from behind.
Because apart from the heavy breathing, the sunlight that was originally shining on the wooden door in front of him was completely blocked.
Cohen looked back at Edward, who had frozen.
"Nobel, why are you out?"
Cohen asked behind Edward.
Edward, who hadn't turned around yet, smelled a whiff of sulfur.
"You already have large animals, right?" He swallowed.
Hiss... After Edward made up his mind to turn around, he came into close contact with Norbert face to face - the huge dragon head almost brushed the tip of his nose, and the orange-red vertical pupils stared at him curiously.
"Roar?"
“&%#@!”
Although Edward was so frightened that his words became a bunch of disordered syllables, he still subconsciously protected Cohen behind him.
He frantically pulled his wand from his pocket - which spell should he use to deal with the dragon? What spell could break the dragon's hide?
"It's okay, Dad. It's very obedient." Cohen came out from under Edward's elbow.
Norbert was indeed very obedient.
After hearing about their relationship from Cohen's words, it licked Edward's face with its tongue in a flattering manner.
"Ew..." Edward's expression was twisted. The slippery touch, with the smell of sheep's blood and sulfur mixed in, was very pungent.
"Go back to sleep, I'll give you dinner tonight." Cohen drove Norbert back. Edward was obviously frightened by its sudden appearance.
"dragon!"
After Norbert flew back to the cave happily, Edward exclaimed belatedly.
"Your brain couldn't have been offline for that long, right?" Cohen asked incredulously. "I thought you'd really like dragons. The sandbox you gave me even had a brass dragon girl transformed into a dragonborn. I thought you were into that kind of thing."
"That's an adventure story, it's different from reality." Edward corrected, "Raising a dragon is too dangerous and illegal—"
"Really?" Cohen blinked pitifully.
"Okay... don't tell your mother..." Edward sighed, "She definitely won't agree to you raising a dragon here. She'll write to Dumbledore and give him a lecture in the next second."
However, after calming down, Edward began to feel curious about real dragons.
"But... is it really obedient? Will I get bitten if I touch it? You know, a normal wizard would probably never touch a fire dragon in his entire life..."
"It's better to come with me. It seems to only listen to me." Cohen reminded, "Your reaction makes me unsure whether I should continue to show you another pet..."
"We've seen fire dragons, what could be more terrifying?" Edward said bravely, "What else do you have?"
Cohen took Edward to the study on the first floor - this place was temporarily used as Ali's resting place because it was difficult for the unicorn to go upstairs.
After pushing open the door, a pitch-black "unicorn" was staring straight at the two of them.
It exuded the aura of curse and death, its eyes were only white, and it met Edward's gaze like a dead object.
"—!"
Edward felt as if he had lost his breath again.
But it's safer than a dragon—evil unicorns, they're a common thing in Muggle fantasy stories...
"Boom!"
Yali just glanced at it, then turned back to continue doing what it had been doing before the two of them entered the door.
There was a huge hard stone placed in the room, and it was tirelessly drilling the stone with the sharp horns on its head.
This stone cursed by Cohen has been drilled with many cracks, and once it is completely broken by Yali, it will quickly return to its original shape.
"What is it doing?"
"Give up the alcohol," Cohen said casually. "When it's off the alcohol, it feels like a fox is crawling all over its body, so I gave it a job that can distract it."
