Chapter 62 Dumbledore: No dragons allowed in the castle!
This action made the originally scary dragonlet suddenly seem less scary - but Harry and the others still didn't want to touch it.
"Just how fast do dragons grow, Hagrid?"
Hermione was still a little worried because the sparks from Norbert's sneeze had burned a corner of the table.
But it was only born five minutes ago!
"If it's given enough nutrition, it should grow to the size of a young man in just a few months!" Hagrid said happily. "I'm sure--"
"Hagrid, the faster it grows, the easier it will be to spot..." Harry interrupted as a reminder.
Hagrid apparently didn't care much for it - especially since Coin had previously said there was room for him in the castle.
After leaving Hagrid's hut, the three were curious about the secret room in the castle that Cohen mentioned.
So Cohen planned to take them to see it - of course, not his own secret base, but to show them what the Room of Requirement looked like when it was turned into a dragon farm.
After Cohen walked back and forth through the eighth-floor corridor three times, the Room of Requirement opened a door leading to the "wide open field."
"Well, this is it."
Cohen opened the door and said to the three people.
The endless wilderness-like scenery behind the door made Harry, Ron and Hermione's eyes widen.
After everyone walked through the door, Cohen closed it to prevent any students who happened to be passing by this dead-end corridor from seeing it.
There was even the sun hanging in the sky inside, and cotton candy-like clouds were floating in the blue sky. If Cohen hadn't reminded them, they would have thought that this place led to the real outdoors.
"This must be some deep magic—I haven't even seen it in books!" Hermione looked around in awe. "Does it have no limits?"
"There should be."
Cohen casually cast a spell into the distance. After flying a long distance, the red spell seemed to hit a wall, sparking a burst of sparks before disappearing.
"But it can definitely accommodate a dragon, and Hagrid can come here often to see it - and bring it some food or something." Cohen said.
"This must be the farm that used to be the school," Harry guessed. "Such a large room could house a lot of animals—how did you find this, Cohen?"
"There are a lot of secret rooms and passages in the castle. When you come across something strange, you have to try it out to satisfy your curiosity, right?" Cohen explained. "Just like the staircase on the fifth floor, at first we didn't know that if you shouted 'idiot' at it, it would take you to the seventh floor."
"I don't even know about that now—" Ron said cautiously, "No wonder you were behind us in astronomy class last time but you got to the roof first..."
"..."
After confirming that the house could accommodate the next dragon, Harry and the others finally let go of their worries.
Thanks to the invisibility cloak, they only had to secretly transport Norbert to this house before Hagrid grew him larger than a man.
If nothing unexpected happens, the plan will be launched smoothly in two weeks.
But unfortunately, this plan was interrupted by a white-bearded old man.
Because it was unknown which ghost or painting overheard words like "Hogwarts" and "raising dragons" from the "Gryffindor Evil Squad", on the third day after the dragon hatched, a book with a phoenix tail feather appeared on Cohen's bedside table.
"I want to go home!" Cohen complained angrily in the Room of Requirement, carrying the book sent by Dumbledore. "A perverted old man sent his pet to break into the boys' dormitory at night!"
"Then I'll help you expose him. Tomorrow morning I'll go to the Great Hall and loudly condemn Dumbledore's sexual exploits against students." The Earl said nonchalantly, guarding a white bird egg. "You really are a genius."
Cohen praised.
But doing so would only force Dumbledore to take some coercive measures to protect his reputation - no one knew what would happen if a kind and arrogant old man was pushed to the limit.
Cohen is unlikely to die, but the Earl will definitely turn into a grilled Scottish fat chicken.
The book Dumbledore sent was "The Application of the Untraceable Expansion Charm in Architecture" - Cohen had heard of this book title before buying the wand. He heard Mr. Ollivander mention it because Cohen expressed curiosity about the wand shop being "bigger inside than outside".
There was also a letter tucked into the book, containing a few words written in Dumbledore's unique, long, thin, artistic handwriting.
I heard you like Fantastic Beasts, so maybe this book will be helpful to you. It once helped one of my students, Newt Scamander, build a magical suitcase that provided a safe and comfortable home for his magical beasts.
[Also, please do not keep dangerous animals in Hogwarts Castle to avoid harming your classmates and friends. If you have any research difficulties, please come to the principal's office for help. I love cockroach piles.]
Cohen summarized that Dumbledore's meaning was "You are not allowed to keep dragons in Hogwarts."
In fact, Dumbledore's worries were justified. No one knew whether a student would accidentally break into the dragon farm in the Room of Requirement - and then Norbert would probably swallow the lost student in one gulp.
"I don't really want to admit my mistake," Cohen said stubbornly, "but this time I'm just being reluctant—huh? What's that thing under your butt, Count?!"
Only then did Cohen realize that the Count seemed... seemed... probably...
"You really are a catgirl!"
"Fuck your grandma!"
The Count was a little irritable because he was protecting the egg, as all parents are like:
"I'm a male! I didn't lay this egg..."
"Did you finally get married to Hedwig?" Cohen asked curiously. "I thought you weren't very good at that—"
"That's because Hedwig didn't want to give birth in winter," the Count said logically. "Now that spring is almost here, I'm planning to raise some sons and daughters..."
As to why it was the Earl who incubated the eggs instead of Hedwig, the Earl summarized the reason as "Hedwig's living environment was rather simple and therefore not suitable."
But there was one benefit to the Count being busy raising the baby: he finally stopped chattering - Cohen's reading environment was much better than before.
Since he couldn't keep a dragon in the Room of Requirement, Cohen had to make a choice: either send the dragon away or follow Dumbledore's advice and make a box like Newt's.
The latter was obviously more appealing. A mobile base had always been what most people desired most in their childhood - and Cohen was no exception.
Cohen had previously tried to turn the horned camel's pocket or the old box into a small, long-term, stable base, but the magic on it always dissipated easily over time, causing the internal space to shrink several times without realizing it.
And it is always a dark environment inside, making it difficult to come up with any pleasing decoration style.
It's okay to put a giant monster or a unicorn there for a short period of time, but if people live there for a long time... Cohen still wants the base to look like a base.
This book does provide many solutions from the perspective of alchemy and ancient magic runes. Coupled with Dumbledore's promise in the letter that "you can go to the headmaster's office for help at any time", it does not seem difficult to make such a box.
"start!"
