Chapter 214: Aragog and Chimera, Choose One
"For Voldemort's sake, I will protect you." Cohen said kindly, "That's why I came to you today, silly mouse."
"That's great—" Peter cried with joy, "You are so kind—thank you…"
"Come on, I'll take you to a place where you won't be caught by Sirius Black." Cohen opened his box, "Come in."
"But this isn't the place..." Peter knew that Cohen had a box containing a bunch of dangerous creatures - he was obviously hesitant.
"They all obey my orders and will protect you from Sirius Black," said Cohen. "Hogwarts is not as safe as my trunk."
"That's...that's great..." Peter timidly followed Cohen into the box.
Crouching outside Cohen's house was the terrifying Chimera, but it didn't pounce over here.
"Roar!" The lion roared as if wanting to rub against Cohen but was afraid of being attacked by Cohen and Goat Head.
"Wow, there's even a reconciliation sentiment," Cohen said gratified. "It seems like you've gotten smarter since following me."
"That's because the goat told it that if it attacks people again, it won't be allowed to eat." The horned water snake said, "It's so hungry now."
Peter took a few steps in fear, away from the beast.
"Don't be afraid. You don't have to live next to it. You can live in my house." Cohen pointed to his wooden house. "I even built a new room here."
This new room refers to the basement. Because Sissoko wanted to take care of the lively and active little basilisk, Cohen gave up the idea of letting the basilisk live in the basement.
Now that comes in handy—the basement can serve as Cohen's personal prison.
"Ahhhh!!!"
As soon as he entered the door, Peter Pettigrew was frightened by the two basilisks, one big and one small, coiled in the living room.
“Daddy’s back with food again!” said the little snake monster Sophia happily.
[That's not your father, I am your father, he is your brother - how many times do I have to say it before you change your words...] Sissoko said lazily.
"Don't be afraid of basilisks, they're smarter than you are," Cohen said. "See that basement over there? You can live there."
"I... I..." Peter wanted to refuse, but in this situation... refusing Cohen's arrangement seemed like a suicidal choice.
"It's better than being hunted every day, right?" Cohen said happily.
What a ghost!
Peter Pettigrew screamed inwardly.
Outside, he was being hunted by Sirius Black every day, and here, two basilisks were squatting in the house, staring at him hungrily - especially the smaller one, which clearly looked like it wanted to eat him.
"Then... after the master is resurrected... can I go out?" Peter was already trying to find hope for himself.
"Get out?" Cohen said, as if he had heard something funny. "I don't think so."
"W-what?" Peter asked breathlessly.
"It's so safe here. You can be a rat here for a long time. No one will come to kill you. Isn't that just what you want?" Cohen said.
Then, Cohen said to Sissoko and the little basilisk:
"This guy lives in the basement later. If he tries to escape from the house, just eat him."
Cohen uses English here.
"What!" Peter's eyes widened.
[Got it.] Sissoko, who had been lying on the ground, raised his head and slowly crawled over to Cohen and Peter. He used his tongue to memorize Peter's scent. [What's this—a prisoner, right?] [Yes.] Cohen hissed. [It doesn't matter if he lives or dies. I have two different arrangements.]
[Dad! Can I eat him directly?] The little basilisk also came over curiously.
“You heard what Cohen said,” Sissoko said. “You have to wait until this person escapes before you can eat…”
"I want to get out of here!"
In a panic, Peter turned back into a mouse and ran wildly trying to leave the room.
But how could a mouse catch up with a snake? The little basilisk happily opened its mouth and pounced on the fleeing mouse. Peter was so scared that he hurriedly changed back to human form and hid behind Cohen trembling.
"Okay, it's arranged. I hope you enjoy your stay here." Cohen said to Peter in a friendly manner, "Oh, by the way——"
As he spoke, Cohen controlled the "fake version of Peter Pettigrew" he made yesterday to come down from upstairs, and then adjusted some facial details based on Peter's real appearance.
Now it looks exactly the same.
"what are you up to!"
Peter said in horror as he looked at this "other self" who looked like a puppet.
"Someone has to replace you." Cohen's smile looked like a devil in Peter's eyes.
"But I'm still useful... You can't..." Peter said, "I'm still useful to the Dark Lord..."
"You might have been of some use to me and Voldemort in the past." Coin had had enough.
Under Cohen's control, the fake Peter turned back into a mouse. It was exactly the same as Peter - even the Animagus transformation process was exactly the same, because Cohen had just seen the real Peter transform several times.
“But unfortunately, it’s gone now.”
-
Bringing the fake Scabbers back to the dormitory, Cohen threw it into Harry's pile of snacks and let it continue to be a good mouse.
Now I can relax and enjoy my student life - I don’t have to worry about anything before Christmas.
"Oh!"
The dormitory door was suddenly thrown open, and Harry and Ron rushed in in panic.
"Cohen! It's over—Hagrid's gone mad!" Ron shouted.
"He said he wanted to ask if you could borrow the Chimaera again..." Harry said breathlessly, "He even wrote a lesson plan..."
“That’s not easy?” Cohen said. “I just say no.”
"You can't do this..." Ron wailed. "Hagrid has another lesson on Fantastic Beasts..."
"What is it?" Cohen asked curiously.
"Acromantula." Harry swallowed. "Hagrid even gave it a name - Aragog. I've only seen it in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them..."
"Why did the Care of Magical Creatures class become Defense Against the Dark Arts?" Cohen really wanted to see what Aragog would look like when he was revealed - but he didn't know if Aragog still remembered Cohen, the "enemy who exterminated his clan."
"This is horrible. If he uses this next class I'm going to expel him straight away," said Ron firmly. "Just looking at those things at the back of the room gives me the creeps, let alone touching them - and Hagrid actually wants us to touch them -"
"Actually, you can choose to take a leave." Cohen said rationally, "I remember that the leader of the Acromantula in the Forbidden Forest can speak, so there shouldn't be any particular danger."
"Your Chimera can talk too," Ron said sadly. "Compared to the Acromantula, the Chimera looks much cuter."
