Chapter 168 These are not edible!

After getting the box, Cohen didn't go out the main door. If he ran into Filch again, Filch would definitely find a way to accuse him of attempting to do something bad, and might even check the box.

I really should install a dual system for the box like Newt's, it would save a lot of trouble.

Leaving the castle from the courtyard exit and returning to the Forbidden Forest, Cohen didn't meet anyone along the way - not even Hagrid was there, he must have gone to watch the Quidditch final.

The stadium was bustling with people, but the Forbidden Forest was much quieter.

Cohen returned to the unicorns' bush enclosure and saw that the unicorns were all waiting for him obediently - it felt like he was facing a group of lambs to be slaughtered.

"You go in one by one, and then follow me. I have to take you to meet some other creatures in there, so that you won't fight with them later." Cohen said, opened the box, and crawled in first.

[How do we get in here?] The unicorn leader asked Yali.

【Just go inside. 】

After saying that, Yali dived in.

The unicorns followed Ali into the box one after another, while several centaurs were watching secretly not far away.

"Are you really going to let the unicorn leave with that wizard child?" Bane said in a low voice, "Firenze, Ronan, don't you think..."

"Uranus passed over Mars last night, Bane," Ronan said glumly. "The unicorns are safer there than in the forest..."

"That boy didn't harm the forest," Firenze said. "At least the Acromantulas never came out of their burrows again. The Thestrals say he rescued the little Thestrals."

"He gives me a dangerous vibe," Bane said. "He doesn't look like a wizard, or a unicorn, or anything like that. Mars has been incredibly bright ever since he arrived."

"You can't just look at Mars, Bane," Ronan advised. "The stars have a lot to say. Apart from war, there are many stars full of hope. The unicorns will be fine."
-
"Noble, come out and see the unicorn!"

Cohen led the herd of unicorns to the entrance of Noble's cave and shouted loudly inside.

"Roar……"

Norbert growled lazily and slowly crawled out of the hole.

"This is Norbert, a Norwegian Ridgeback." Cohen introduced him to the unicorns. "He stays in his cave most of the time, and from time to time he comes out to eat sheep. Don't be afraid when you see him hunting sheep."

This is a somewhat stupid female dragon.

Yali explained to the unicorns again,

[Eat, sleep, eat. If one day it gets sleepy and wants to bite you, just push it back.]

"Roar?"

Norbert looked at Coln, then at the large circle of unicorns that looked similar to the fierce unicorn.

"These are not for eating, understand?" Cohen reminded Norbert.

"Roar……"

Norbert assumed an obedient squatting position.

"Okay, go back to sleep." Cohen waved his hand.

"Roar!"

Norbert flicked his tail happily and went back to his den.

[Ohhhh, is this a dragon? ]

A young unicorn looked at Norbert's back with curiosity as he left. "Don't try to get into its mouth, Uli!" the unicorn leader warned. "Have you forgotten the last time you provoked that werewolf?"

"Can we poke its butt?" asked another young unicorn. "It doesn't look like it's going to kick us like a centaur..."

"The centaurs certainly held back on you all because you're still alive." Cohen shook his head. "Next are the sheep and the pig monsters here. Don't get close to the pig monsters, they have the plague—though unicorns shouldn't be afraid of the plague either—but you're still not allowed to get close to them. I don't know any veterinarians, so if you get sick you'll have to rely on yourselves to heal."

[Ohhh, pig monster!] Uli, a young unicorn who wishes to remain anonymous, is curious about all of this.

"Then there are the basilisks—don't be so nervous, their eyes won't kill people. I made glasses for them." Cohen led the unicorns to the statue's head where the old basilisk lived. "They are smarter than Norbert—hmm..."

Cohen saw two snake heads, one big and one small, looking down from the second-floor window of the cabin.

"The smallest one isn't very smart, so try to stay away from it."

The old basilisk was called out by Cohen, and after its "docile" performance, the unicorns became less wary of the giant snake.

"Why did you bring back so many unicorns?" Sissoko also climbed down from the upstairs with the little snake monster Sofia - the kind that slid down directly from the window. "Is there any you like? When can I hold my grandchildren -"

"Shut up." Cohen covered his face and replied in snake language.

"Daddy brought some food!" The little basilisk looked at the horses with shining eyes. "Hairy snakes! With pointy heads!"

"That's a unicorn," Sissoko said. "It's not something to eat."

[I remember this big one, but where did this small one come from?] Yali looked at Cohen with great surprise, [……]

"I picked it up." Cohen corrected immediately, lest Ali think that this silly snake was her own.

The little basilisk climbed down from Sissoko's head and curiously crawled towards a little golden unicorn.

The little unicorn hid behind its parents, looking at the snake, which was so huge for it, with half fear and half curiosity.

"friend?"

The little basilisk tilted its head and looked at the little unicorn.

The little unicorn also plucked up the courage to crawl out from behind his parents, slowly approached the little basilisk, and then touched noses with it.

"You have to keep an eye on it," Cohen warned Sissoko, "otherwise the snake will be stabbed in 77 holes."

"Is that what you're talking about?" Sissoko said worriedly.

"I'm talking about you," Cohen said. "You're the guardian snake, and you're responsible for its actions."

"..."

But the good news is that the little basilisk didn’t think “friend, it’s delicious”. Although it and the little unicorn did not speak the same language or were of the same race, they seemed to be having a lot of fun.

This also makes the relationship between the unicorns and the basilisks...

"So fucking weird."

The Count watched the entire first encounter between the unicorn and the basilisk from the rooftop. After following Cohen out of the box, he commented, "You wouldn't dare write something like this in a fantasy novel. How could a unicorn and a basilisk get together..."

"That's what fairy tales are like," said Cohen nonchalantly. "As long as they don't produce anything like blast-end skrewts."

"Where in the world is this kind of thing found in some cult fairy tale!" screamed the Count.

"In 'Who Let This Dementor into Hogwarts!'" Cohen said, "I'm going to write a book like this when I graduate. It would be a waste not to write about such wonderful school life."
