Warhammer: Black Emperor

Chapter 100 "Reader"

Chapter 100 "Reader"

Void Hunter, the Primarch's office.

Arsene Dunn called up the star map and projected it onto the tactical table.

Nimrod examined the star map in front of him. Between the Vostroya galaxy and the A-068 galaxy where the Crystal Illusion was located, there was still a large area shrouded in fog.

The dotted areas are the areas that the Oil Man exploration fleet has reached during a blind jump into subspace.

The Primarch slid his finger, drawing a corridor on the star map, and asked the attendant thoughtfully.

"If sending legionnaires to explore these areas takes too much time, what suggestions do you have?"

Arsene thought for a minute and then spoke.

"Sir, since you think it's a waste to send out the Legion soldiers to explore, then we should use other forces."

"You should make full use of the privileges granted by the Empire. There are places where you can make use of them in the Imperial Code."

"Have you finished reading him?"

When Nimrod became a "lawyer", he was directly indoctrinated with this massive code and naturally knew how complicated its content was.

After becoming a servant, the "reader" had a heavy workload, but he still found time to finish reading it.

"My Lord, in order to better serve you, I believe it is necessary to read the Imperial Code."

"I can only offer constructive suggestions when you need them,"

The silver-haired "reader" showed his enthusiasm just right and then made suggestions.

"According to the Imperial Code, you have the right to appoint Rogue Traders, who are authorized to explore the unknown areas of the Empire for you."

"The Emperor himself was adept at using Rogue Traders for exploration. Rogue Trader Hale Deannis discovered the Palamar System for the Imperium in 803."

Nimrod nodded in satisfaction, Arsene had the same idea as him.

Free labor is much better than wasting your own strength if you don't use it. This is also a good use of the rules.

Thinking of this, he gave orders to his servants.

"After returning to Vostroya, you will gather information about the Empire's supply fleet and identify suitable personnel from among those conscripted merchant ships."

"Local candidates are also considered. Although they lack experience in intergalactic navigation, as long as they have an adventurous spirit and good abilities, they are also acceptable."

"I will provide them with assistance."

The loyalty of the Vostroyan families is relatively high, so they can be given some appropriate help, such as frigates or destroyers, or sending retired auxiliary army veterans with serious disabilities to serve as officers on board.

"As you wish."

Arsena bowed and accepted the order, and Nimrod glanced at the hanging bell.

"It's almost time. Marlena is coming."

Nimrod did not appoint Malena as his attendant, even though he thought the "physician" was more capable and loyal than Arsene.

Considering the needs of the subsequent roles of "Mother", Sequence 7 "Harvest Priest" and Sequence 5 "Druid" both need to be close to nature, the Primarch did not appoint her as a servant.

But during this time, he would dine with the two of them and understand the progress of the medical deck from another perspective.

While Nimrod was speaking, in the medical cabin, Malena had just finished a tiring operation.

At the moment of its conclusion, the "doctor" felt as if food were being digested in his body, as usual.

She took off her white medical coat and just walked out of the transformation chamber when two Vostroyan auxiliary soldiers came to her carefully pushing a cart.

"Lady Marlena, please have a drink of water."

Both of them were saved from the operating table by the "doctor". They paid all the king coins they had - the currency issued after Nimrod unified Vostronia - in exchange for this opportunity to express their gratitude in person.

"it is good."

Malena smiled, and the perfect face of the bio-psychic made the two veterans stunned.

They immediately came to their senses and did not have any unrealistic thoughts, but were instinctively amazed.

Marlena reached out her fair hand, lifted the tempered glass partition that blocked out the smell of disinfectant, picked up the silver cup, and drank it all in one gulp. "Thank you."

Marlena put the cup back and said with a smile.

"You're welcome..." the two said hurriedly. They finally found the opportunity and said quickly, "We want to thank you for saving our lives."

The “doctor” also felt a little digestion. Although it was not as obvious as when she finished the operation and saved the patient, the gratitude from the patient also made her realize that she was a little closer to fully mastering all her abilities.

After taking the special elevator up, Marlena arrived at the bridge a moment later.

It took the bio-psychic a few seconds to tidy up his already perfect appearance, then he walked into the Primarch's office and saluted Nimrod.

"grown ups."

"sit down."

Marlena pulled out the oak chair and sat down gracefully.

Then, the legion servant in charge of the Primarch's meals came in pushing a dining cart and placed plates of meat from the Gnawing Plain, which was classified as an agricultural world, on an oak table covered with a long linen towel.

The mixed aroma of applewood and cherrywood, accompanied by the sizzling sound of dripping fat, aroused Malena's appetite after she had exhausted her physical strength and energy.

The first to appear was the medium-rare green zebra steak, its greasy marbled pattern glowing with a honey-colored luster under the candlelight.

When the sharp knife on the waiter's silver plate cut through the caramel-colored crispy shell, the pink texture stretched out like volcanic lava, and the gravy spread out amber ripples on the bone china plate.

The herb-marinated curled lamb ribs are then uncovered, oozing out glistening fat. Rosemary and garlic cloves infiltrate their fragrance into every texture under high temperature, while the unique frankincense of lamb fat and the aroma of charcoal fire intertwine in the air.

From deep within the oven wafts the sweet aroma of oak-aged Las Volta barbecue sauce. A twelve-hour slow-roasted turkey breast unravels like silk beneath the tip of a knife. Smoke rings permeate the muscle fibers, and each slice carries the breath of fruit wood.

"Eat."

Ningluo was the first to pick up the knife and fork, picked up a piece of curled lamb ribs, dipped it in the tidal coral pepper sauce of Cradle of the Sea, and put it into his mouth.

The capsaicin, like a rising tide, seemed to transform into millions of glowing little fish, mixed with tender meat juice, and after being amplified thousands of times by the original gene's senses, it dripped into the stomach.

"Sir, you seem to like spicy food?"

Marlena asked with a smile as she looked at Nimrod's naturally enjoyable expression.

"Yes."

"Spicy taste not only stimulates and excites the taste buds, but also brings a warmth and satisfaction that goes deep into the bones."

After hearing this, Malena and Arsena were thoughtful and had a deeper understanding of the Primarchs.

After a moment, Ningluo saw the "doctor" put down his knife and fork, so he asked.

"Is the renovation going smoothly?"

"I have good news for you. Mikel and I have conducted a detailed analysis of the reconstructive surgery and found that in addition to age, there is another factor that affects the success rate of the surgery."

Marlena said with a smile, and Nimrod asked curiously after hearing that.

"What is it?"

"The organ modification process is designed according to Terran standards. The Vostroyans also live in a hive environment, so it's relatively similar. However, the Sicilians, who grew up in the Cradle of the Sea, are quite different."

"We grew up by the sea, so our bones are denser, but conversely, our resistance to poisons and corrosion is weaker."

Ningluo suddenly realized that when the Chogris were being transformed, the failure rate was relatively low because of their tough flesh and blood.

"Have you found a solution?"

"We have found it. Mikel and I have found a solution and made small adjustments accordingly."

"We artificially created an environment that simulates the ocean, and the organs grown from genetic seeds will first be immersed in it and undergo fine-tuning of their adaptations."

"The most obvious effect was helping the older Szczesny successfully complete his fifth to eleventh reconstruction surgeries, catching up with Howard and the others."

Nimrod nodded with satisfaction, "This is really good news."

Szczesny, who was being talked about by the two men, was lying on the bed with his eyes slightly closed, controlling Lehman's Ear to consciously enhance or filter out the noisy background noise around him.
