Demon Hunter: I have a red gourd

Chapter 53: Fighting, Cool

Chapter 53: Fighting, Cool
Unlike other social monsters, the reason why ghouls can be spread all over the continent is also unique.

Whenever a ghoul is seriously injured, its already limited sanity will instantly collapse and it will go crazy.

In this state, its strength and speed will be greatly increased, and its attacks will be more ferocious, completely disregarding its own injuries.

What is even more unacceptable to humans in terms of moral concepts is that although ghouls are social monsters, when their companions die, they not only do not feel any sadness or anger, but will devour their companions' corpses without hesitation to enhance their own strength.

It was for this reason that Ivan chose the tactic of a group attack. If he killed one first and created a ghoul corpse, the situation would become more difficult after it was devoured by its companions.

The silver sword in his hand instantly pierced the zombie's throat. Ivan turned his wrist and swept the silver sword across, cutting off its head cleanly and neatly, and it rolled onto the muddy ground.

At the same time, the three ghouls on the other side were ignited by the Igni Sign. The blazing flames instantly engulfed them, burning their withered flesh and causing them to let out shrill screams.

Ghouls, a type of monster, were extremely afraid of bright sunlight and flames, and generally only ventured out to forage at dusk and night. But now, engulfed in flames, they no longer cared about devouring the remains of their companions. The excruciating pain drove them mad, and they rolled on the ground like crazy, trying to extinguish the flames.

However, Ivan would not give them such an opportunity. He swung his silver sword, and three more burning zombie corpses appeared on the ground.

All this seemed to take a long time, but in reality it was only a moment. Ivan swung his silver sword with clean and sharp movements, almost without a pause, and had already eliminated the four ghouls one by one.

The other ghouls in the distance heard their companion's screams and stopped tearing at the corpse. Their scarlet eyes quickly locked onto Ivan's position, revealing a bloodthirsty glare.

At this moment, Roche led his ten fully armed blue iron guards teams to follow. The heavy footsteps made the zombies subconsciously feel threatened, and their movements were slowed down.

A slightly larger ghoul let out a sharp hiss, as if sending some kind of signal. The rest of the ghouls immediately stopped growling and prepared to retreat.

However, they did not turn and flee. Instead, they knelt on all fours, in an extremely strange posture, their pale faces facing Ivan and the Blue Guards, and then quickly retreated. Soon, the group of ghouls disappeared into the shadows, leaving no trace.

Seeing that the ghouls had indeed fled upon seeing the crowd, just as Ivan had predicted, Roche nodded approvingly. He then waved back, directing the team to move deeper into the village.

The evil spirits wandering in the village smelled the breath of living people and began to become restless.

The badge on Ivan's chest suddenly began to vibrate violently, as if sensing some kind of threat. A flicker of alarm flashed in his eyes, and he swung his sword suddenly at the empty space to his left. The blade sliced through the air with a crisp sound, and then, a demonic spirit that had emerged from the mist was knocked back several meters, the will-o'-the-wisp in the lantern flickering.

"Aden!" Ivan shouted softly, and pressed his left hand downward. An hourglass-shaped purple magic circle appeared around him. The three demons approaching him instantly appeared, and strange ripples appeared on their translucent bodies.

"I can handle it myself, don't worry about me, be careful around you!" Ivan shouted to Roche, and swung his sword back at the demon beside him.

Roche, who was about to support Ivan, stopped in his tracks after hearing his words. He had known Ivan's strength from the ghouls that had entered the village, and his actions might only cause him more trouble.

He looked toward the village's central square, where two skeleton-like demonic spirits were slowly drifting toward him. He glanced resolutely at the two new recruits beside him, then waved his hand and shouted, "Follow me!"

Roche knew that this was the area where demonic activity was most frequent. Only by controlling the square could he provide stable support for the other teams. Meanwhile, Weiss led another team in a charge towards the windmill in the village.

The windmill towered into the sky, being the highest point in the entire village. Standing there, she had a wide field of vision, which allowed her to fully utilize her long-range attack advantage.

Unlike other soldiers, Weiss applied evil spirit oil to a large number of arrows and throwing knives, so she didn't have to worry about running out of sword oil. This made her team the most powerful one.

A demonic spirit appeared from nowhere, blocking their path. Weiss's eyes flashed, and without hesitation, she drew her bow and arrow in one smooth motion.

With a whoosh, the arrow shot out like a meteor, accurately hitting the demon's chest. Instantly, the demon was corroded by the evil spirit oil on the arrow, emitting a piercing scream, and its figure dimmed significantly.

Before it could react, four more flying knives flew over and hit the demon's body one after another. With their sharp cold light, the demon's body became almost transparent, as if it would dissolve in the air at any time.

The two recruits beside Weiss seized the opportunity, stepped forward quickly, and each of them delivered another sword blow.

Under the combined attack of the three, the demon spirit instantly turned into a pile of gray-white powder and scattered on the ground.

Philip, on the other hand, was much more cautious. His forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat. After all, a few days ago he was still asking Ivan what the demons, which were widely found in ghost stories, looked like. He didn't expect that today he would have to face them head-on and even fight with them.

Although I had prepared myself mentally, I still couldn't completely eliminate the tension in my heart when I actually saw this inhuman monster.

He gripped the weapon tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the effort, but he still stood firmly in front of the two recruits, exploring and advancing on Roche's right side.

He took every step extremely cautiously, scanning his surroundings vigilantly, afraid to miss any corner where danger might be hidden.

Ivan wielded his silver sword with the speed of wind, swift and precise. Even though he faced four demons alone, every swing of his sword accurately blocked every thrust of the demon's rapier.

"How can it be so weak?" He was puzzled as he blocked and counterattacked. The demon's attack was not fierce or fast, and it didn't seem to pose the threat it should have. Instead, it seemed a bit stiff and slow.

This was also his first time fighting against a demon spirit. According to the records in the Book of Shadows, demon spirits were not known for their strength and were only about the same as a strong adult man.

They are difficult to deal with because of their strange ability to become invisible and ethereal.

Although the Aden Seal can make them visible and lose their ability to become invisible, if the number of demons is too large, the coverage of the seal may not be enough to restrict the actions of all demons.

Demons and spirits naturally cooperate with each other. In this situation, even an experienced demon hunter may be in danger.
