Demon Hunter: I have a red gourd
Chapter 50: The Sorceress
Chapter 50: The Sorceress
"So, you still haven't explained to me why you found me so quickly. What happened?"
Seeing Philip catching up, Ivan turned and asked him.
"Well," Philip chuckled, "even though I lost to Weiss in the archery competition, Roche was very satisfied with my performance. Plus, I had served as captain of the guards for Baron Visserad, so he gave me the position of team leader and let me lead a team to train first."
"I thought this was a good start to gaining a foothold, so I told him about your situation. So, what do you think? Did I do anything wrong?"
"Is that so?" Ivan touched his chin. "It seems that the Blue Guards are really short of talent right now. Philip, you have come to the right place."
"It's strange to say." Philip approached Ivan and whispered, "I now believe what you said before. Roche is not a simple officer."
"After I told him about you, he simply called one of his men and asked him if a young demon hunter had appeared in Vizimare recently."
"Within ten minutes, someone reported your whereabouts to him. They also learned that you had just been to the Vivaldi Bank and were now heading to the horse market in the trade zone."
"He doesn't have his own intelligence network in Vizima, does he? This is the capital of Temeria. What does a soldier like him want to do this? If he does, I absolutely cannot get stuck in this quagmire. I'd better run away as soon as possible!"
Philip expressed his bold guess in a mosquito-like voice. If Ivan was not a witcher with sharp hearing, he would not be able to hear what shocking words he said.
"Don't overthink it." Ivan hit Philip's chest with a heavy hammer. "He definitely loves Temeria more than you do. Don't worry."
"Huh? Why?" Philip covered his chest with a confused look on his face. "Why do I always feel like you know some inside information, Ivan?"
While chatting, they arrived at a camp filled with Temerian military flags and bonfires. Roche dismounted and invited Ivan to a camp specially set up for meeting guests.
"Thank you." Ivan smiled and took the teacup handed to him by the indifferent blonde beauty Weiss, then turned to look at Roche opposite him.
"Ivan, right?" Roche looked at him sharply, his tone calm and direct, "Philip told me that you needed my help with something. Coincidentally, I have some tricky problems here too, and I just happen to need a witcher."
He paused slightly, then continued, "However, before talking about my affairs, why don't you tell me what you want me to do for you?"
Did he happen to be looking for a demon hunter? If he was looking for a demon hunter, then he must be looking for demons to destroy. Ivan raised an eyebrow. This saved him the trouble of figuring out what terms to offer Roche's help.
He took out the grayish-white gem from his arms and showed it to Roche.
"I'd like you to contact a sorcerer to help me identify the origin of this stone."
"It looks like an ordinary stone." Roche raised a hand and stroked his chin, thoughtfully. "I can indeed contact the court sorcerer in Temeria, but if this thing has nothing to do with magic, I will be in trouble."
"You should also know that the court sorcerers are of high status. If I use an ordinary stone to trick them, who knows if I will be teased by some strange magic, such as stepping in shit when I go out, or having the wine I drink mixed with the urine of some monster, or something like that, hehe."
You don't actually need to describe it in such detail. It will sound like your own personal experience. Ivan complained in his heart and pulled out his school badge from his neck.
"I'm certain this is a magical item. Our demon hunter's badge will vibrate as soon as it detects the presence of chaos energy nearby. You can tell by its reaction now."
"It's indeed the Griffin School." Roche looked at the badge trembling on Ivan's chest and nodded with satisfaction. "In that case, as long as you can help me solve the problem, then I can help you."
"What's the trouble?" Ivan asked.
"Eliminate the monsters."
"What monster?"
"Demon spirits, but their number is currently unknown. We, the Blue Iron Guards, can also assist you."
"Since it's a demon spirit, and with your help, there's no problem." Ivan hammered his palm. "Then please help me contact the court sorcerer in Temeria. By the way, how many court sorcerers are there in Temeria now, and who are they?"
"They are both sorceresses," Roche replied. "Their names are Keira Metz and Triss Merigold. If you are desperate to know what the gem is, you can give it to me now, and I will send someone to pass it on to one of them."
Ivan threw the gray-white gem to Roche without any hesitation. Roche caught it steadily, with a hint of surprise in his eyes.
"You're so confident in handing it over to me?" He raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you afraid that I might lose it or take it for myself?"
"You helped me once when I bought the horse. I don't think you're someone who would go back on your word. If you really do that," Ivan took a sip of tea, "then I'll just assume you were wrong."
"Okay, that's satisfying." Roche's lips curled up into a smile.
"In that case, I promise you, if this stone is truly a precious magical item, even if those two sorceresses want to swallow it privately, I will help you get it back and return it to you intact. Believe in my methods, I will definitely not let you down."
Roche handed the gem to Weiss, who had been standing silently by the side. Weiss took the gem, nodded slightly, then turned and walked out of the tent.
After a while, she came back in, her expression still cold.
"Alright, I need more information about the demons you want me to eliminate, especially the time and location of their appearance. If there are any injured, it would be best if I could take a look at their wounds."
"I would also like to know the reasons for their appearance, if you know any, and any related clues."
The deal was done, and Ivan quickly entered demon hunter mode.
With the existence of the red gourd, he can now improve his strength by destroying any monster, so in this transaction he can not only find out what the gem is, but also absorb the essence of several monsters. It is simply a win-win situation, like Qin Shihuang touching the electric switch - he wins a lot.
