The immortal is beside me

Chapter 63: Shocking Qishan, the Three Demons Are Eliminated

Chapter 63: Shocking Qishan, the Three Demons Are Eliminated

After the mural of the demons and humans joining forces to go to Mount Qishan, the extended iron-colored roots reached the end, and the first group of portraits ended.

The off-road vehicle continued to move forward, passing the outermost circle of roots and entering the open area inside the Demon Capital Imperial City.

The winding road gradually became flat, and the huge golden sycamore tree outside the car window was getting closer and closer. Next to the side of the giant tree were spreading mountains and rivers. The golden tree and the green mountains were in front and behind, and the whole scene was like an ancient oil painting.

After driving a few more kilometers, the off-road vehicle stopped in front of an open area at the foot of the mountain. Everyone from the Super Research Institute and Peacock got off the vehicle, and they were greeted by a dusty wind blowing in their faces.

Cheng Xiaomeng, hands propped up against the pergola, gazed forward, her eyes fixed on a grayish-white expanse of rock. This foot of the mountain had no cultivated fields or structures, preserving its pristine state.

"The road we just passed is the same road that Your Majesty and the Immortal took when they entered the Demon Cave."

"Thirteen hundred years ago, the Three Demons occupied Mount Qishan, killing humans and demons alike and collecting countless corpses. They transformed the Qishan Cave Heaven into a cemetery, until Your Majesty and the immortals arrived and destroyed the cemetery in one fell swoop, heading straight into the heart of the demon cave."

The peacock stretched out a wing and explained to the crowd.

"And this is where the three demons were stationed."

"To save Qishan, the Immortal and Your Majesty fought a great battle here against the Three Demons. The scars of that battle still remain to this day. Please follow me."

As it spoke, it flapped its wings and took off in front, leading everyone in the Super Research Institute forward.

A gentle breeze blew, and dust rose from the dirt road. Cheng Xiaomeng looked down at the dirt road beneath her feet. She saw that it was paved with gravel and loess. The brown-yellow road stretched for several miles, with no end in sight.

This is the road that man walked thirteen hundred years ago.

The light from the golden sycamore tree shone down, casting the shadows of a man and a bird on the ground. The two shadows were moving rapidly, passing through the cave.

After a while, the shadow stopped under the shadow of a leaf. Zhou Wuqing lowered his head in the air, looking down at the forest below.

The land of Xiqi is a famous place where demons live. The outer area they just passed through is covered with lush vegetation and full of vitality all year round. In this cave filled with spiritual energy, the mountains and rivers are even more green and full of vitality.

But at this time, the beautiful mountains and forests were already filled with all kinds of corpses.

There may be tens of thousands of corpses, with different appearances, including various kinds of monsters and human civilians in cloth.

The corpses were cut up one by one, the peeled skin was hung between the branches, and the pulled out tendons were tied to the tree trunks. Among the exotic flowers and plants on the ground, there were countless cut body parts scattered. The flesh and blood of humans and monsters mixed together, piling up into a real mountain of corpses and sea of blood, dyeing the beautiful Xiqi Mountains and Rivers red.

The smell of blood hit him in the face, and the wings of the red sparrows flying beside him began to tremble, their flying routes were shaky, and their fear was beyond words.

"Immortal, Immortal, this is it."

Zhou Wuqing, who was beside it, looked at the forest made of flesh and blood and asked, "Is this the work of the three demons you mentioned?"

"Yes," Chique nodded, "the three demons said that they wanted to turn Mount Qi into a Buddhist holy place called the 'Charnel Forest' for their disciples to cultivate."

"Since the arrival of the Three Demons, many of the demons who originally inhabited this area have joined them, accepting their guidance and practicing with them. Those who refused to join them are like the corpses in this forest."

Zhou Wuqing listened to it talking without any extra expression on his face, he just lowered his head and looked at the scene below.

He had indeed heard of the name Cemetery before.

During the anti-Buddhist war between the Northern and Southern Dynasties more than a hundred years ago, the Jiuli forces joined forces with the Northern Zhou Dynasty to destroy countless Buddhist temples in the Central Plains and seized a large number of Buddhist scriptures.

As long-time rivals, the Immortal Alliance naturally conducted a detailed study of these spoils, and he also read through some of them. He had come across the name "Shituolin" in a book called "Yaoxing Sheshen Jing" (Note 1).

According to what is said in the sutra, those who can sacrifice their bodies can eliminate all sins and attain perfect enlightenment.

In order to practice the way of self-sacrifice, Buddhism established the holy place "Charnel Forest", admonishing its disciples to cut up the flesh and blood of the corpse and hang them in the forest, and practice in the charnel forest, so as to understand the way of life and death and reincarnation.

Regarding this unheard-of method of cultivation, everyone in the Immortal Alliance has their own opinions and evaluations, and his evaluation of it is very simple.

A strong heat suddenly spread out, waves of heat rushing into the sky like a hurricane. Chi Que, who was standing nearby, was caught off guard and hurriedly moved closer to him, clinging to his side to avoid being swallowed by the hurricane.

It opened its eyes wide, and a ray of fire as bright as the sun was reflected in its pupils. The next moment, the entire mountain range in front of it was burning.

The raging flames swept across the entire forest like a huge wave. In just a few breaths, the cemetery in front of them turned into a sea of fire. The demons hiding in it did not even have time to react before they were reduced to ashes in the fire.

The scene of the sea of fire appeared in his eyes, and the red bird beside him was stunned for a moment.

It has awakened its spiritual intelligence and is a demonic creature with a hundred years of cultivation. During these hundred years, it has seen many human cultivators, but it has never seen anyone with such a terrifying aura.

How could such a person exist among the human cultivators?

Suddenly, a dull roar was heard in the distance. The golden sycamore tree in the center trembled slightly, emitting a light golden halo that flowed through the entire cave. It seemed that a certain existence hiding in it had noticed the movement outside and was turning its gaze here.

When the sight and sound reached his ears, the red bird beside him trembled all over. If Zhou Wuqing hadn't held up the feathers on its back, it would have almost fallen down.

Zhou Wuqing had naturally heard the noise, and without the red bird leading the way, he once again soared towards the center. However, the red bird fluttered its wings desperately to stay close to him, thus avoiding being overwhelmed by the might of the cry.

The shadows of a man and a bird flew by, moving along the dirt road paved with gravel and loess, finally stopping at the end of the road. The shadows gradually grew larger, and a figure in a red Taoist robe floated down from the sky and stepped onto the loess ground before them.

Zhou Wuqing raised his head, and the towering tree not far away was reflected in his eyes.

The tree is shaped like a paulownia tree, with golden leaves and iron-like branches. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and it can be seen that it is the center of this cave.

Completely different from the surrounding cemetery, the interior of this cave still retained its original picturesque scenery. At a glance, everywhere was covered with shrubs and flowers, tall pines and lush bamboo, creating a scene of a fairyland.

Looking closely, the giant golden sycamore tree was faintly emitting golden Buddha light, which spread along its branches to everywhere, adding a sense of sacredness to this fairyland. It was somewhat similar to the legendary Buddhist holy land, Tianzhu Lingshan.

The flapping sounds around him subsided, and the red bird that had been leading the way beside him also landed at his feet, its feathers spread out, and even its wings began to tremble.

At this position, it could clearly feel the huge demonic energy emanating from the golden sycamore trees, as if three giant mountains were standing there. It could still sense it even from miles away.

Not long ago, it was these three giant mountains that crushed the entire Qishan area, causing countless casualties among the local demons. The devastating scene is still vivid in Chi Que's mind. There is no need to see any trace of the three demons. Just the overflowing aura is enough to scare it so much that it dares not move forward even a bit.

"Are you hiding here?" Zhou Wuqing, who was standing beside it, suddenly spoke, causing Chique to turn his head to look, only to see him suddenly stomping his foot, and a surge of force burst out.

Boom boom boom——

The entire earth shook, and the sound startled the red bird so much that it flapped its wings and flew dozens of steps away. As it retreated, it heard a low animal roar faintly from the shaking, followed by three strong demonic auras.

The leaves of the towering sycamore tree swayed, making a rustling sound. A green lion, a giant elephant, and a golden roc appeared from the branches, stepping on the clouds and landing on the hilltop behind the tree. Six eyes as big as millstones all looked down, overlooking the tiny human figure on the ground.

"Who dares to violate our borders?" A voice like a bell echoed in the air.

A huge shadow was cast on the ground. Zhou Wuqing raised his eyes and swept his gaze over the three giant shadows. There were faint swastika marks on their bodies, which were obviously the work of Buddhism.

"They are indeed the three running dogs of the Buddhist sect."

The earth trembled again, this time coming from the three-headed demon before them. The blue lion on the left roared, its voice shaking the heavens and the earth.

"How dare you!" The green lion leaped out of the mountain, its sharp teeth bared. "We are here at the command of the Buddha to enlighten the wild monsters and ignorant people of this place. How dare a mere Taoist dare to invade?"

The clanging of swords resounded through the mountains, and the eyes of the red bird watching from behind trembled violently.

Zhou Wuqing in front suddenly raised his hand and waved it, and a magic sword appeared in his palm. Without saying a word, he raised his hand and swung the sword. The sword light cut through the sky and fell on the green lion in the air.

With a wailing sound, the green lion was immediately cut down from the air, and its huge body fell heavily to the ground, causing the leaves in the forest to fly and the soil to churn.

The wanton sword energy spread out, sweeping across the smashed and turned-up land below. The surface loess was peeled off, revealing pieces of white bones under the soil.

The bones piled up into a mountain under the soil, of different sizes and shapes. Many of them belonged to other big monsters, and some were human skeletons.

"Corpses pile up like a forest, and bones are buried in the ground. The enlightenment of Buddhism is truly well-deserved." The words of the Taoist priest in red were heard amidst the gusts of fishy wind.

The conflict came so suddenly that not only the Red Sparrow watching from the rear, but even the two great monsters sitting in the mountains were shocked.

The golden roc monster next to it flapped its wings, as if it was about to take off into the sky. However, the giant elephant in the center seemed to be aware of the situation. It put its front hooves together and performed a fairly standard Buddhist salute.

"Amitabha. It turns out he is a master from the immortal sect. I am sorry for offending you."

The giant elephant bowed slightly, "Your Excellency may have some misunderstandings. We have no intention of eating humans or demons. It's just that the creatures in the Central Plains are obsessed with desire, greedy and lustful, and they kill and fight frequently. This is the case with the humans and demons here."

"Greed, lustful, and joyful, they are tainted with karma. We wish to create a pure land on earth, and the only way to save them is to send those entangled in karma into the cycle of reincarnation. If Immortal Master does not mind, please allow me to explain this in detail. Perhaps Immortal Master will understand what we are doing."

As soon as he finished speaking, Zhou Wuqing swept up the piles of bones on the ground and sneered.

"A few lackeys, are you worthy enough to talk about the truth?"

The hurricane-like heat flow stirred up again, the light of infinite true fire lit up around him, and the surging momentum spread out instantly.

The mighty force was overwhelming, and the red bird hiding in the back was almost suffocated. It quickly flapped its wings, flew back dozens of steps, and hid behind a cluster of iron roots in the back.

It poked its head out from behind the iron root and stared at the scene in front of it, taking in the blazing flames, the awe-inspiring sword, and the arrogant figure.

At the same time, two huge shadows fell from the sky.

A sharp whistle sounded, and the golden-winged roc on the top of the mountain suddenly spread its wings, and the giant elephant also roared and snorted. The two huge figures seemed to turn into a hurricane, sweeping down from the top of the mountain, and blowing towards the red-clothed Taoist in front of them.

"As Buddhism says, you want to save all living beings from the cycle of reincarnation?"

Amidst the howling gale, Zhou Wuqing held his sword in front of him, facing the giant shadow that was flying towards him, with blazing flames rising from the blade.

"Today, I will send you into reincarnation!"

The peacock in the sky folded its wings and gracefully landed on the ground. Behind it, everyone in the Super Research Institute also stopped and looked forward.

In front of them was a towering green mountain with a huge crack in the center, as if it had been split in half by some force.

At the bottom of the crack in the green mountain, there stood a black stone tablet with a line of Chinese characters written on it.

[The Three Demons of Buddhism - White Elephant, killed here]

"Oh my goodness, was this cut out by someone?"

A subordinate researcher nearby sighed. Cheng Xiaomeng listened to him without responding, only looking around.

On one side of the huge crack, there is a pit made up of rubble, as if it was formed by a giant meteorite impact. After thousands of years, the pit has been filled up a lot, but there is still no grass in the center.

There was also a stone tablet standing beside the pit.

[The Three Demons of Buddhism - Blue Lion, Burned Here]

Looking further ahead, there is a huge hole in the stone wall of the mountain on one side. Most of the surrounding mountains seem to have been flattened by the hole, which looks quite abrupt.

There is also a stone tablet below to record it.

[The Three Demons of Buddhism - Golden Peng, shot down here]

The mountain wind blew, making a humming sound through the cracks in the rocks, echoing throughout the mountains and rivers, as if it was a wail spanning thousands of years.

"This is the remains of the great war to destroy demons."

The peacock flicked its tail gracefully and introduced to the people at the Transcendental Research Institute: "In those days, Your Majesty and the Immortal entered Mount Qishan and fought the Three Demons here."

"The three demons are ferocious and no mortal can defeat them. Your Majesty and the immortals went to the demon cave together, burned the corpse forest, crushed the green mountains, and finally met the three demons under the golden sycamore tree. The battle lasted until the sky was dark and the sun and moon were dim. Finally, the three demons were subdued here, and peace returned to Qishan!"
