Chapter 116 I'll be here waiting for you to come back

"Oh!" Mo Ziyuan was also a little worried for her. Although he had not investigated and verified it, he felt that things were almost exactly as he guessed. As for why the Queen Mother arranged people here, it should be the same reason why the Prince asked them to lie dormant here.

"You have to keep this a secret from me!" Lin Xin warned him.

"Don't worry, I don't want this to be exposed any more than you do!"

"Forget it, let's just live one day at a time. We'll just stay in this small ravine. Who can possibly find us? Besides, this is all your guess. Maybe the truth is not like this at all! Don't you think so?" Lin Xin rubbed her face and said to Mo Ziyuan.

"You're right! I've only seen that jade pendant once, at the Crown Prince's place. I think I might have remembered it wrongly." Mo Ziyuan agreed with her.

The two of them chatted for a while, looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"What's coming will eventually come. There's really no need to worry about it now." Mo Ziyuan held Lin Xin's hand, looked down at her seriously, and said, "No matter what happens in the future, I will stand by you. Trust me."

Lin Xin looked at their clasped hands and nodded silently.

Over the past three years, her relationship with Mo Ziyuan had become somewhat ambiguous. She believed in his feelings for her, but she had no certainty about their future together. She knew very well how difficult it was for two people from different social backgrounds to be together.

"Let's just leave everything to time!" she thought ostrich-likely.

In the following days, Lin Xin never appeared in public with Lin Tao again, and even saw Lin Nan less often.

"Sister, don't you want me anymore?" Lin Nan looked at her with tears in his eyes and asked with a pout.

"How is that possible? Who told you that nonsense?" Lin Xin pulled him into her arms like she did when they were little, patted his back and asked.

"But Nannan hasn't seen her sister for a long time." Lin Nan finally couldn't hold back her tears. Lin Tao stood aside and looked at her curiously with his big eyes. After thinking for a while, he came forward and wiped his tears with his chubby little hands, "Uncle, don't cry!"

Lin Nan has complicated feelings towards Lin Tao. Before he appeared, she was her sister's only little baby, and her sister would always take her with her no matter what she did. But since Lin Tao came, he became the one who stuck to her sister, while she began to follow her master and others all day long.

He always felt that Lin Tao had snatched his sister away, and he should hate him very much, but for some reason, when he looked at him with those big eyes like black grapes, he always had the urge to set up a ladder and pick them for him even if he wanted the stars in the sky.

"Then sister, can you please spend more time with Nannan in the future?" Lin Xin felt the clothes on her shoulders getting wet, and suddenly she wanted to slap herself for avoiding them for the past few days.

She was truly obsessed with being a salted fish, completely devoid of blood. Even if their life stories were true, so what? If someone really wanted to harm them, wouldn't she, a dignified three-element psychic, be able to protect herself and a little kid?
"Really? Sister, you didn't lie to me?" Lin Nan asked her for an answer with tears in her eyes.

"Of course, I was wrong before, and I will never make such a mistake again!" Lin Xin promised seriously.

"Well, pinky promise!"

"Pink pinky!" The tender little finger hooked together with the white jade finger, and then a short, fat little finger stretched out, "Taotao wants to pinky too!"

"Okay, let's pinky promise!" Three fingers were entangled together in a strange way.

"Hey, what's wrong with Nan Nan? Why has she become a little crybaby?" Gao Yong happened to come to find Lin Xin, and saw Lin Nan lying in her sister's arms with red eyes. He was very surprised. You know, Lin Nan practiced martial arts with Mo Ziyuan, and she never cried even when her body was bruised. So he hurried over to ask.

"I'm fine." Lin Nan hid his face in his sister's arms embarrassedly and answered in a low voice.

"Brother Gao, are you here to see me? What's going on?" Lin Xin quickly came to her brother's rescue. "Oh, I almost forgot about the important matter." Gao Yong slapped his forehead. "A letter came from the capital saying that the emperor is not feeling well. We need to go to the capital as soon as possible. Ziyuan asked me to ask you if you want to come with us or stay in the village."

"Are you going to start what you're preparing?" Lin Xin asked.

"Yes," Gao Yong changed his usual cheerful demeanor and nodded seriously, "Yes, Your Highness has made all the necessary preparations. Just in case, we need to go over and provide support."

"Are you all going?"

"If Mr. Cui doesn't go, Yi Chen will stay too, and the rest of the people will go."

"Then I won't go. I wish you success in advance!"

"Well... okay! I'll go back and tell Ziyuan."

Gao Yong looked at Lin Xin hesitantly, but he didn't say what he wanted to say until he left.

That night, Lin Xin couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned on the kang but couldn't fall asleep.

Suddenly, there were very light footsteps outside the door. She jumped up from the bed, opened the window a little, and saw the familiar figure standing quietly in the moonlight.

"Xin'er!" Seeing the window open, Mo Ziyuan jumped into the house with one hand on the windowsill.

"How did you come?"

"I'm going back to Beijing tomorrow, so I wanted to say goodbye to you." Mo Ziyuan stared into her eyes and answered in a low voice.

"You..." Lin Xin felt like she was about to be burned by his scorching gaze, and she lowered her head involuntarily. But soon he grabbed her chin and forced her to raise her head again.

"Xin'er, if I...if I succeed in this trip, would you be willing..." Lin Xin quickly covered his mouth. "Ask me this question again after you return safely."

Mo Ziyuan's eyes suddenly lit up. He couldn't help but pull Lin Xin into his arms. He lowered his head, following Lin Xin's gaze, and asked, "Xin'er, do you... mean what I think you mean? Xin'er?"

"I didn't mean anything. Go back and get some rest!" Lin Xin felt her face must be very hot, so she quickly used some strength to break free from his arms and said to him while standing aside.

With the moonlight outside the window, Mo Ziyuan could clearly see her blushing face. He felt as if there was a lively little rabbit in his heart, jumping "plop, plop" non-stop, and jumping faster and faster, almost jumping out of his mouth.

"Xin'er, I will definitely come back. You have to wait for me, okay?" Mo Ziyuan swallowed hard, suppressed his intense heartbeat, and looked at her seriously for a promise.

"Okay, I'm not going anywhere. I'll just wait here for you to come back."

Seeing only her own reflection in his radiant eyes, Lin Xin nodded heavily.

Mo Ziyuan smiled, a somewhat silly smile. He made a gesture to Lin Xin that she did not understand, then jumped out of the window, climbed over the wall and disappeared.
