Chapter 134 A Premature Admonition Leads to Xiugu's Escape

Wang Mazi and his group were causing a huge disturbance. Yun Shan and A Fu were outnumbered and outmatched, their faces full of anger but helpless. They could only watch as the clinic was turned into a complete mess.

Suddenly, a whooshing sound came from behind, and before anyone could react, a thick flying stick flew straight into the crowd.

The flying stick came with great force, first striking the wrist of the skinny, monkey-like thug with precision. He was reaching for the medicinal herbs when the blow caused him to scream in pain, and the ginseng he had just grasped fell to the ground.

Immediately afterwards, the flying stick flipped in the air and swept hard at another thug who was about to push Afu down again, hitting him heavily in the back of the knee. The thug's legs went weak and he knelt down with a "thud," sweating profusely from the pain.

When Wang Mazi saw this, his heart skipped a beat. Just as he was about to call for a retreat, the flying stick seemed to have eyes and suddenly struck towards his chest.

He couldn't dodge in time and was hit squarely, flying several steps backward before landing hard on his backside, almost unable to breathe.

Seeing that things were going badly, the thugs dared not linger any longer. They helped their injured companion up and scrambled out of the clinic.

Wang Mazi, disregarding his harsh words, scrambled to his feet, shouting as he ran, "You just wait, this isn't over!" In the blink of an eye, the group disappeared at the end of the street, leaving behind only a wrecked clinic and a stunned Yun Shan and A Fu.

"Zhanqian?" Yunshan finally saw his face clearly. "Have you been busy lately?"

Zhanqian rolled his eyes at Afu: "Your kung fu is terrible." Then he took a book from his pocket and threw it to him: "The moves in this book are easy to learn."

Afu quickly took it, holding it carefully as if it were a precious treasure.

Everyone cleaned up the mess, and Zhanqian followed Yunshan to a corner.

"I must go to the military camp, but Miss Song is the most important matter the general entrusted to me."

Yun Shan was initially puzzled as to why Lin Xiao, such a sunny person, had such a cold and aloof bodyguard. But after spending more time with him, she realized that Zhan Qian was just like Lin Xiao at heart.

"Do you have any news?" Yun Shan asked in a low voice, hoping to get some information about Lin Xiao from Zhan Qian.

He shook his head.

No news is good news.

Yunshan forced a smile, comforting herself and Zhanqian.

Turning to look at the clinic, which was almost completely tidied up, Yun Shan made up her mind. Since Wang Mazi didn't intend to let her go, she had to strike first.

I heard that Xiugu has escaped from Wang Mazi's house again.

This time, she panicked and ran desperately out of the city, her heart filled with longing for freedom. However, she did not expect that once she was out of the city, she would find that the road ahead was full of difficulties.

Without a travel permit, she couldn't go any further.

Meanwhile, in the city, Wang Mazi was furious when he discovered that his wife had run away. He gathered a group of cronies and searched for her everywhere.

His first suspicion fell on Yunshan's clinic.

Wang Mazi arrived at the clinic in a menacing manner and kicked open the door.

"Old woman Song! Where did you hide Xiugu? Hand her over right now, or don't blame me for being impolite!" he roared viciously, his eyes bloodshot, like a mad beast.

Yun Shan said without changing her expression, "Wang Mazi, don't cause trouble here. Xiu Gu has never been here." As she spoke, she lifted the curtain of the inner room.

Wang Mazi refused to believe it. With a wave of his hand, his men began searching the clinic.

“These bottles and jars are all priced; you’ll have to pay for them if you break them. Afu, follow behind Master Wang and remember them.” Yunshan said, and Afu took the paper and pen and followed her. This Wang Mazi had encountered the formidable Zhanqian last time, and assuming he was her own guard, he had become more cautious, only searching people.

Yunshan silently prayed that Xiugu wouldn't be caught by Wang Mazi, while her mind raced, trying to think of a way to deal with the situation.

Wang Mazi searched every corner of the clinic, even behind the medicine cabinet and under the bed, but he couldn't find Xiugu anywhere.

Unwilling to give up, he threatened fiercely, "You better not lie to me. If I find out you've hidden her, you can forget about keeping this clinic open!"

Yun Shan glared at him fearlessly, "I said I'm not here, and I'm not here. Don't try to frame me!" Seeing that he really couldn't find her, Wang Mazi could only angrily let go and leave with his men.

Wang Mazi and his group walked away.

Yun Shan knew that if she wanted to bring down Wang Mazi, the evidence had to be solid; the slightest mistake would render all her efforts futile.

Xiugu once said that Wang Mazi would occasionally receive a sum of money, but he never used it for any business.

Yunshan felt there was definitely something wrong here.

She first took Afu to the vicinity of the underground gambling den that Wang Mazi frequented, disguising herself as a tea vendor.

With her tattered clothes, rough hands, and deliberately tanned skin, anyone who saw her would think she was an ordinary street vendor struggling to make a living.

After staking out the place for several days, she finally discovered a secret about the gambling den.

There was a servant at the entrance of the gambling den who would come out precisely at 3:45 AM every day and hand over something that looked like an account book to the person who came to meet him. That person was the one who came with Wang Mazi to cause trouble.

Yunshan knew that her opportunity had arrived.

That day, the servant came out to hand over the account books as usual. Yun Shan took a deep breath, waited for the right moment, and kicked over her tea stall.

"Oh dear, what are we going to do!" Yun Shan feigned panic and shouted loudly. Scalding hot tea spilled all over the ground, cups and plates shattered everywhere, and people around turned to look. The once orderly street instantly turned into chaos.

"What's going on? Watch where you're going!"

"You've spilled tea all over me, you have to pay for it!"

While everyone was busy and flustered, Yun Shan darted away and cleverly stole the ledger from the receiver's arms. Her movements were so quick that no one noticed.

Back home, Yunshan closed the door and eagerly began to carefully examine the account books.

The records on the table were meticulously detailed, showing Wang Mazi's share of the gambling profits. Every single entry was clearly marked, including the date, amount, and percentage of the profits, with nothing missing.

"Now we have irrefutable evidence to bring you down," Yun Shan muttered to herself, a hint of certainty flashing in her eyes.

In order to obtain evidence of Wang Mazi's debt collection and violence, Afu inquired everywhere about the victims he had harassed.

They found a man named Li Er. Li Er's house was in the most dilapidated alley in the city. The house was on the verge of collapse and the interior was bare.

Yunshan entered the room and saw Li Er lying weakly on the bed, her heart filled with sympathy.

"I know you were badly hurt by Wang Mazi," Yun Shan said softly.

Li Er sighed, his eyes filled with pain and helplessness: "Sister, what can I do? My mother is seriously ill, and I had no choice but to borrow money from that loan shark. But with such compounding interest, how can I ever pay it back?"
