Mercenary I am the king

Chapter 211 Secret Camp

Chapter 211 Secret Camp
It was a long flight.

Originally, there was only Persia between Iriga and Afghanistan. If they crossed the Persian airspace, they would arrive quickly. Of course, this was impossible.

Therefore, they could only go around the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea before entering Pakistani airspace, and then transfer there before entering Afghanistan and landing at Kandahar Airport.

Kandahar Airport is a military fortress located in the center of the war and an important base for the US military in Afghanistan.

Although the US military has entered Afghanistan to carry out the "anti-terrorism" war for more than two years, it has not yet been able to control the entire country.

This small Central Asian country, known as the "graveyard of empires", used its unique resilience to teach those so-called invincible American soldiers a good lesson and let them experience the pain that the Soviets felt here back then.

Even Kandahar is not absolutely safe. Like Iriguchi, there are always some mysterious attacks here, which keep the American soldiers stationed here in a nervous state all year round.

As soon as Song Heping and Mister got off the plane, a lieutenant came over and asked, "Are you the only ones coming from Irigo? Song Heping? Mister?"

As he spoke, he looked the two of them up and down.

"Yes, we are." Mist saluted and pointed at Song Heping beside him: "He is Song Heping, and I am Mist."

The lieutenant returned the salute and said, "I'm Lieutenant Jones, follow me."

After saying that, he turned around and led the way without waiting for Song Heping to greet him.

It is already April, and the temperature in Afghanistan is around 10 degrees Celsius, which is the most comfortable season.

Song Heping followed Lieutenant Jones, looking around as he walked.

The security inside and outside the airport is very strict. American soldiers armed to the teeth with live ammunition are stationed at every important position. A Humvee is parked directly at many entrances, and the machine guns on the roof are manned by shooters, ready to shoot any unidentified people who break into the security area at any time.

Just like the airport in Irigo, the atmosphere inside the airport was extremely depressing and tense. Even on a sunny day, the air you inhale into your nose has a faint smell of gunpowder.

Here, planes take off and land at any time, including fighter jets, transport planes, and even helicopters. Every time a plane takes off or lands, it is accompanied by a deafening roar of the engine, which greatly tortures the eardrums.

When passing the helicopter area, suddenly a dull propeller sound was heard in the sky. A Chinook flew over the heads of several people like a big bird, and then landed on the apron dozens of meters away.

A medical vehicle with a red cross sign came roaring over and carried several blood-stained soldiers out of the helicopter. People around were shouting and quickly lifted the soldiers onto the ambulance, which roared away under Song Heping's gaze.

"It's been more than two years, and you're still fighting so hard?"

Song Heping couldn't help but ask Mist.

Mist said, "Guerrilla warfare is out of the question. The entire Hindu Kush mountain range is too vast to be cleared out. This place is even more troublesome than Irigo."

Song Heping thought to himself that guerrilla warfare would never be out of date. Even the Americans, who had the most advanced military technology in the world, were dragged into a low-level tug-of-war and were fed up with it when involved in this type of warfare.

Soon the two men followed Lieutenant Jones into the car. After the car drove out of the airport, it quickly entered the outskirts of Kandahar city.

Song Heping looked out from the car and saw a desolate scene everywhere.

Kandahar is not the capital Kabul, and the situation here is more tense.

When invading Afghanistan, the US military joined forces with the remnants of the Northern Alliance to attack from the north and east. The student army retreated all the way, either entering the Hindu Kush Mountains or retreating to the south. Because it is adjacent to Persia and Pakistan, and the adjacent areas are mostly mountainous, thanks to the mountain fortifications left over from the invasion during the Soviet era, even if the US military used large bunker-buster bombs, it was still unable to wipe out the guerrillas in these areas.

Before coming here, Song Heping also knew that Afugan was a very poor place.

Years of war have left this place in ruins, and using the word "poor" to describe Afghanistan is a bit pale.

There is no trace of a modern city in Kandahar. All Song Heping sees is a picture full of traces of war and human suffering.

The ruins in the streets and alleys witnessed countless battles and destruction. Most of the city’s buildings had been destroyed, leaving only some broken walls and collapsed roofs.

The once prosperous shops and houses on both sides of the street have now become ruins, with rubble and weeds everywhere.

Some buildings still have bullet holes and traces of explosions, as if telling of the cruelty of war.

Occasionally, you can see a few dirty locals appearing on the roadside. The women are wearing loose-fitting burqas. When they see Song Heping and his car, fear flashes in their eyes and they quickly stop and move as close to the roadside as possible.

If Yilige gave Song Heping a feeling of confusion, then Afugan gave Song Heping a feeling of despair.

After driving for dozens of kilometers, the car finally entered a military camp west of Kandahar.

The periphery of the military camp is still the common Esco explosion-proof wall, but it is more cautious here. They piled up two circles of explosion-proof walls and built a passage between the two explosion-proof walls. Vehicles at the entrance must first drive into the entrance, and then follow this artificial passage formed by the explosion-proof wall to enter the second entrance before they can actually enter the military camp.

All entrances to the military camp are equipped with speed bumps and at least two checkpoints. The first one is used to check whether the vehicles and personnel entering are in danger and verify their identities. The second one is to check the identities again to ensure that they are correct before entering.

From this we can see that the American troops here have a harder time than those in Iriguchi.

Such strict security procedures are obviously the result of experience gained through bloody lessons.

The military camp is mostly made up of wooden houses and tents. It is like a small community, with everything like the military camp in Irigoe.

Song Heping saw that some soldiers who were not on duty were even playing rugby in the camp, while some set up beach chairs outside their tents and simply treated the place as a seaside beach to sunbathe.

The car passed through the military camp and headed towards the northeast corner.

Finally we stopped in front of a relatively secluded iron gate.

Lieutenant Jones turned around and said to the two men, "We're here, get off the bus." The two men got off the bus with their luggage.

Song Heping stood in front of the iron gate and looked at the quiet area.

This is an independent area, surrounded by barbed wire, with a special person guarding the entrance. It seems like a small kingdom independent of the entire military camp.

Behind the barbed wire, Song Heping saw many prefabricated houses.

There are about a dozen prefabricated buildings inside.

The guards in charge of guarding the gate looked a little different from the American soldiers outside. There were no unit markings on their uniforms. They wore sunglasses and had sound-collecting and noise-canceling headphones on their ears, which were common among special forces.

This was not the first time Song Heping had dealt with the US military. He knew very well that these completely unmarked guys usually served in a special military unit.

However, he didn't know which unit this guy belonged to, nor was he interested in knowing.

The US military has so many special forces and secret units that outsiders only know about a small part of them, and many of them are not even known to many people inside the company.

Seeing Lieutenant Jones, the two guards greeted him and opened the iron gate.

When entering the door, Song Heping whispered to Mist: "Why do I feel like this is the door to hell..."

"They are from the ISA." Mist whispered, "Yes, this is hell. Welcome to hell."

Jones led the two men to a small tent and pointed, saying, "You will stay here for the next few days."

Song Heping looked around. In addition to the wooden houses, there were also some tents. The strangest thing was that there was a huge iron cage in the open space in the middle.

Just as the two were about to walk into the tent with their backpacks, they suddenly heard miserable howls behind them.

The voice was hoarse like a broken gong, and it sounded like the throat was broken from shouting.

Song Heping turned around suddenly and saw two burly soldiers in sand-colored T-shirts and camouflage pants, one on each side, carrying a man in a wet robe, walking out of one of the huge wooden houses.

The man in the robe struggled and begged, and Song Heping couldn't understand what he said. He probably spoke the local Afgan language.

But I can guess that it means to beg them to show mercy.

It's obvious that he was tortured to the point of being unable to bear it.

The man in the robe was almost dragged away until he came to the huge iron cage. Then a soldier came over and opened the cage. Two strong soldiers threw the man in the robe in like throwing away garbage, and slammed the iron door shut. No matter how the other party begged, they turned around and left.

The guards around and the people present didn't even give this scene a second glance, as if it was nothing out of the ordinary.

Not long after, a blonde woman walked out of the wooden house. She looked to be in her thirties or forties, tall and well-built with a plump figure, and had the charm of a traditional European and American beauty.

The blonde girl had wheat-colored skin and was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt like the male soldiers. Song Heping could see the deltoids and biceps on her arms, which looked very "muscular".

"Tsk tsk!"

Song Heping couldn't help but sigh.

I thought to myself that if anyone became her husband, he would probably not be able to control this big foreign horse without some skills.

"This woman is top-notch!"

Mist's eyes were shining brightly, like a wild wolf roaming the suburbs hunting at night.

"Fuck me!"

Song Heping whispered, "Do you have such a strong taste?"

Mist said: "You are young and you know nothing!"

Song Heping was very unhappy with the tone of a mature and experienced person.

He is only seven or eight years older than me, why are you pretending?
The blonde woman walked out of the warehouse, took off her disposable rubber gloves, and threw them into the trash can at the door. She said to the male soldiers on either side of her, "Good progress today. He should be able to hold out for another day. He will definitely make a breakthrough tomorrow."

As he spoke, his eyes turned towards Song Heping and Mist.

Mist immediately straightened his remote sensing device to make himself taller.

The woman seemed to notice the two men and walked straight towards them.

"Here she comes, here she comes."

Mist subconsciously wiped his shaved hair.

"Kid, learn this later."

Please vote for me! The turning point chapters are the hardest to write, so I'm writing these chapters a bit slowly. I'll try to get to the climax as quickly as possible, and then things will go much more smoothly.
