Chapter 231 The Ultimate Plan 1
Chapter 231 The Ultimate Plan
"Kate, what's going on now?" Lynn asked hurriedly.
"Lynn, I found some clues in an old news article," Kate's voice was filled with excitement. "The red rose symbol wasn't chosen randomly. It was once the symbol of a workers' organization that opposed capitalist exploitation a hundred years ago but was later brutally suppressed."
Lin En gripped the phone tightly: "Keep talking."
"The survivors of this organization may have gone into hiding," Kate continued, "and now, those behind the serial murders may have inherited the spirit of the Red Rose and turned their anger towards those they believe are representatives of evil - such as businessmen, powerful people, or even ordinary people, as long as they think these people are symbols of 'corruption'."
Lin En took a deep breath and quickly sorted out this information in his mind: "This explains their pattern of action and goals - they are not killing randomly, but are driven by a deep-seated belief in hatred."
“That’s true,” Kate added, “but it also suggests they see their killing as justification, a way to continue an unfinished mission. It’s not just a crime; it’s an extreme ideology.”
Lynn nodded, her eyes stern. "Kate, this clue is very important. It means that the Rose Lord may not just be the head of a criminal gang, he may very well be the leader of this 'New Red Rose' movement."
"I've discovered something else," Kate added after a moment's hesitation. "The organization's last stronghold before disbanding was in an abandoned church on Manhattan's East Side. Perhaps that was the key location where the Rose Lord was hiding."
Lynn quickly convened an FBI task force and incorporated the intelligence provided by Kate into the battle plan. The target was the long-abandoned church on the east side of Manhattan.
"This could be the Rose Lord's command center," Lynn said at the combat meeting. "We must proceed with caution. If they're still here, this operation could be very dangerous."
The task force quickly set out. The church's exterior was dilapidated, a gloomy atmosphere looming. Lynn led the way inside, stepping past the broken pews and dusty altar.
"Someone has been here." Carter whispered, pointing to the fresh footprints on the ground.
Lin En nodded and signaled the team to continue searching. They followed the path inside the church to the basement and found a hidden iron door.
"This is fishy," Carter said.
Lin En signaled the team to use tools to pry open the iron door. Behind the door was a winding tunnel leading to a spacious basement filled with documents, maps, and a running computer.
"These are..." Carter flipped open a document, a look of shock flashing in his eyes, "These are the detailed information of the city's celebrities. Their whereabouts and schedules are all recorded clearly."
"The Rose Lord is monitoring their target," Lin En said coldly, "which means the next operation is already being planned."
The data on the computer excited the technical department. After a quick crack, they discovered the Rose Overlord's next plan: a full-scale attack on Manhattan's financial center.
"This is not just an explosion or a killing, they are trying to paralyze the entire city's financial system." Lynn said with a chill in his eyes.
"Furthermore," Carter added, "based on this data, the Rose Lord is very likely personally directing this plan."
A cold light flashed in Lin En's eyes. "This is our chance to catch him. Notify all departments and mobilize them. The Manhattan Financial Center will be our final battlefield."
The web that Rose is controlling is gradually tightening, and Lynn is determined to tear this conspiracy apart completely.
The atmosphere in the FBI Manhattan branch conference room was solemn in the early morning. All the agents gathered together. The screen displayed the detailed layout of the Manhattan Financial Center and the latest intelligence about the Rose Domination Organization.
Lynn stood in the center, pointing to a key area on the screen. "Based on Kate's findings and the intelligence we obtained from the church basement, the Rose Overlord's plan is to destroy the core data repository of the Manhattan Financial Center and use a series of explosions to create mass panic. This is not only a blow to the city, but also a deadly threat to the national economy."
Carter continued, "Their methods are extremely complex, from security loopholes to timed detonators, everything has been meticulously designed. And according to the information we've declassified, the Rose Lord is likely personally directing this operation."
Lin En's eyes were sharp. "This means this is our only chance. Catching him is not only the key to stopping this attack, but also the key to ending this organization."
The screen switched to the action plan diagram, and Lin En continued, "We have two goals: first, ensure that all explosive devices are dismantled before the operation begins; second, at all costs, capture the Rose Overlord alive. He is the core of the entire organization, and we need him to explain all the details behind the scenes."
He paused, his eyes sweeping over everyone. "Once the operation begins, each team will strictly carry out their own tasks. No one is allowed to act on their own. Does everyone understand?"
"Understood, Inspector!" The neat response was full of power.
That night, a silent security presence was deployed around Manhattan's financial center. Multiple teams of FBI and local police officers hid in the shadows, biding their time. The lights throughout the building remained brilliant, leaving the outside world unaware of the impending crisis.
Lin En sat in the makeshift command vehicle, monitoring every camera inside the financial center. They had already locked onto several suspicious individuals, all of whom were mutants on the previous suspect list.
"Target one has entered the building's underground storage, and target two is patrolling the outer floors," the technician reported. "We haven't seen the Rose Overlord yet."
"He will show up," Lynn said coldly, "His beliefs won't allow him to stay out of it."
At 1 a.m., the first suspect opened the door to the underground storage vault with skillful movements, clearly familiar with the building's structure.
"All teams, prepare for action." Lynn gave orders in the headset.
Carter led the bomb disposal team into the basement and quickly found the first explosive device. They worked nervously, racing against time.
Meanwhile, Lin En personally led the team into the top-floor monitoring room, attempting to locate the Rose Overlord's exact location. A technician suddenly reported, "Inspector, we've found a third target, and he's moving through the underground ventilation system."
"Lock on his position." Lin En immediately ordered, "Don't let him get close to the core storage area."
Just as all the teams were busy carrying out their mission, Carter's voice came from Lin's headset: "Lynn, a man was found outside the underground storage facility... He's wearing a mask, and he should be the Rose Overlord."
Lin En's eyes turned cold: "Have you confirmed?"
"Yes, he's checking the explosive device," Carter replied. "It seems he's here to personally ensure the plan is carried out."
"Don't alert the enemy." Lin En said decisively, "I'll come myself."
Lin En led his team quietly approaching the underground storage facility. When he pushed open the door, he saw a tall figure wearing a dark red mask standing over the explosive device, his hands rapidly adjusting the fuse. "Rose Lord," Lin En shouted coldly, pointing his gun at the man.
The masked man slowly turned around and said in a low, mocking voice, "Inspector Lin, I knew you would come, but you're too late."
"Put down the device in your hand." Lin En stepped closer, his eyes like a knife. "Your plan has failed. All exits are blocked. You can't escape."
"Failure?" The Rose Lord chuckled. "Inspector, do you really think you can destroy us by capturing a few minions? You underestimate the power of faith."
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly pressed a switch on his waist. Lin En reacted instantly and shot him in the wrist, causing the device to fall from his hand.
"Action team, deal with the explosive device urgently!" Lin En shouted and rushed towards the Rose Overlord.
The two engaged in a fierce struggle. The Rose Overlord was exceptionally agile, clearly a result of professional training. He forced Lin to the ground and attempted to recapture the switch.
"You will not be able to stop the purification!" roared the Rose Lord.
"Purification?" Lin En roared back, throwing him heavily to the ground. "Your purification is nothing but a disguise for killing and terror!"
The Rose Lord struggled violently, but Lynn finally pinned him down and handcuffed his hands.
With the explosive device successfully dismantled, the FBI took full control of the financial center. The arrest of the Rose Lord completely dismantled the entire organization's plan.
When the mask was removed, Lynn saw a familiar face - Elliot Weiss.
“It’s you…” Lin En’s eyes were cold and his voice was low.
"It's me, Lynn." Elliot whispered, his eyes still stubborn, "But you can't win. My faith will not end because of my failure."
"Your beliefs are ultimately wrong," Lin En said coldly, "What this city needs is justice, not massacre."
As Elliot was taken away, the night sky over Manhattan returned to calm.
Lynn sat at the table in the interrogation room, across from Elliot Weiss, who was handcuffed to a chair. His mask had long been removed, revealing fatigue and resignation on his face, but his eyes still held a stubborn look. They were alone in the room, and the silence was oppressive.
Lynn stared at Elliot, his voice low but powerful: "Elliot, all the evidence points to you. You have nowhere to escape. Now is your chance, tell everything, maybe you can still retain a little dignity."
Elliot raised his head, a bitter smile on his face. "Dignity? Do you think I still have dignity? In your eyes, I'm nothing but a madman and a terrorist."
Lin En was not angered by the provocation, and his voice remained steady: "Maybe you think you are fighting for justice, but killing innocent people and causing panic is not justice, it is just killing innocent people. Tell me, why do you do this? What does the Rose Lord represent?"
Elliot's eyes wavered, and he whispered, "You'll never understand, Lynn. This isn't terrorism, this is resistance. The red rose was once a symbol of hope, but in the hands of those in power, it became a symbol of sacrifice. We must give it meaning again."
Lynn approached the table and spoke in a more gentle tone. "Elliot, I know the history of the red rose. It does represent resistance and sacrifice, but those were directed against the real oppressors, not innocent people. Those people you killed, did they really deserve to die?"
Elliot was silent for a moment, lowered his head, his voice trembling slightly. "They are not innocent. Do you know what they have done? Those so-called rich and powerful people, they buy and sell human lives on the black market, they fund wars, they exploit the lowest class of people. And what about the law? The law has never touched them."
"So you think you're above the law?" Lin En's tone was cold. "You and your organization have proclaimed yourselves the judges, but do you truly know the full truth about those victims? Or are you convicting them based on only partial information?"
Elliot looked up, his eyes full of struggle: "I have investigated their crimes, I have seen the evidence! If we don't take action, this world will never change."
"Really?" Lin En's tone softened. "What about the ordinary people who were injured and lost their families in the explosions and attacks? You've hurt not only the so-called 'evildoers', but also countless innocent people. Are your actions really worth it?"
Elliot opened his mouth but didn't answer immediately. His expression became complicated, as if he was questioning his beliefs for the first time.
Lynn struck while the iron was hot and continued, "Elliot, I don't deny that there are problems in this world, nor do I deny the injustice you see, but your methods will only bring more chaos and pain. Tell me the full plan of the Rose Lord. Let us prevent further tragedies from happening."
Elliot was silent for a long time, and finally he sighed and said: "Okay, Lynn, you win. I can tell you everything, but you will never understand why we do this."
Lynn didn't interrupt him, but just listened quietly.
"Our organization is made up of several core groups, each with its own mission. The red rose symbol is not just a symbol, but a warning. Every attack is intended to send a signal to the powerful - their safety can no longer be taken for granted."
"What about the Manhattan Financial Center?" Lynn asked. "Why did you choose that as your target?"
Elliot whispered, "That's one of the Rose Master's ultimate plans. Destroying the financial center is not only to create panic, but also to paralyze the system and shake the foundation of their power."
"Any other plans?" Lynn continued to ask.
Elliot nodded. "Two more operations are in the works. One in Los Angeles, the other in Chicago. Targeting critical infrastructure in various locations."
Lin En's brows furrowed even more tightly: "Who is the executor of these plans?"
Elliot gritted his teeth and finally said, "They are mutants I personally selected, and everyone believes in this belief. But they don't know that their actions will sacrifice more innocent people. I... didn't tell them the whole truth."
Lynn stared at Elliot, his eyes filled with mixed emotions. "So you know, these actions are not about bringing about change, but about expanding fear."
Elliot's eyes showed a trace of pain, and he finally lowered his head: "Maybe. But now, I have no way out."
