"put!"

With a command, countless fireballs suddenly erupted from above the valley, falling like meteors, instantly transforming the valley below into a sea of fire. A shrill squeaking sound could be heard from the flames, as if countless rats were struggling in agony.

Outside the flames, the soldiers of the Allied Forces held their weapons tightly, ready for battle.

Their eyes were grim as they watched the burning balls of fire rushing out from the sea of fire, screaming as they collided with the tips of their guns and eventually turned into ashes.

"The rat here is trapped in a jar! The second and third rapid reaction forces, go to the Heyuan battlefield immediately!" The commander's voice echoed in the valley.

As the order was given, some of the Allied soldiers and Night's Watchmen on horseback quickly left the battlefield and galloped away into the distance.

"The rest of you, sprinkle holy water! Let these stinking rats turn to ashes in the holy flames!" said the commander coldly.

As holy water was sprinkled, the blazing flames were stained with a pure white glow. A hint of holiness lingered within the scorching heat, as if even the air itself had been purified.

Looking at the spreading fire below and the rats struggling in the flames, the commander sat down on the rocks wearily, rubbed his brow, and breathed a sigh of relief: "After spending so much time, we finally lured this main force of rats into the trap..."

The adjutant sighed, his tone filled with helplessness. "Who says it's not true? Our Third Breakthrough Army has been held up by these two rat armies for over half a month. Even though the rats outnumber us ten to one, we used to be able to defeat them ten to one and crush them to a pulp."

The commander smiled bitterly. "Yes, during the winter we were still hoping for a big fight in the spring, but now it's been almost two months and we've made almost no progress. The rats are also improving. Their legionary tactics are becoming more sophisticated, and the battles are becoming increasingly difficult."

The adjutant nodded in agreement. "I'm afraid this war won't be over in a year or two. Our blood feud... will have to wait."

The commander was silent for a moment, then suddenly looked up. "However, haven't the Night's Watch's direct forces already opened a passage in the north? I heard they've also established a large defense line in the northern mountains. While I don't know their purpose, this is good news nonetheless."

The adjutant smiled and said, "Yes, at least the Night's Watch can still give us hope. After this battle, I plan to apply to join the Night's Watch. What about you?"

The commander nodded without hesitation. "I have that plan as well. However, I heard that the recruitment requirements for the Night's Watch are becoming increasingly strict. You'll have to work harder."

The adjutant shrugged helplessly. "I'd like to, but I can't say for sure whether they'll accept it. As for you, I'm sure it'll be fine. As for me, I'll just have to try harder."

The two men smiled at each other, but they both understood in their hearts that who in the United Army didn't want to join the Night's Watch? It was just that the threshold for joining the Night's Watch was getting higher and higher, and many people regretted not seizing the opportunity when the enrollment was expanded.

……

At the same time, on the northern channel defense line.

"No matter what these long-legged creatures are doing, we must break through the defense line and cut off their transportation lines! With so many supplies and manpower, we must not let them succeed!" A Rat Corps commander roared angrily.

Inside the tent, the other rat leaders echoed their sentiments. However, a fat rat covered in scars sneered, "You blind thing! Aren't we taking action? I've been attacking! But it's no use! That's the enemy of God. The enemy of God is right there. How can we break through?"

His words resonated with the other rats. The evil rats and the followers of the Four Gods had long been driven to despair by the orders from above. Almost all the troops they could mobilize had been sent here, but facing the Night's Watch's defenses, they were still helpless.

Tens of thousands of night watchmen have built a solid defense line here, and even if the rats try their best, they cannot break through it at all.

"call out!"

Suddenly a sharp cry was heard in the sky.

"Get down! Protective shield!" The rats dropped to the ground without needing any orders. Several mages and priests quickly raised their staffs and erected a barrier of light.

Several light bombs fell from the sky, smashing into the light curtain, causing it to shake violently and become shaky. Other light bombs landed in the distant rat-congregated area, instantly blowing people and horses to pieces.

"What on earth is this? How could the enemy of God have such a terrible weapon?" The mice discussed in horror again.

This attack was unlike anything they had seen in a while. Light bullets, brimming with magical energy, descended from the sky at incredible speed, making them impossible to defend against. Once they landed, they unleashed a devastating force, wiping out every nearby rat.

Lately, it has been attacked several times. Fortunately, the frequency of such attacks is not high, with only a few light bullets each time, and the intervals between them are as long as nearly ten days.

……

And at the night watch position a few kilometers away, a group of uniformed night watchmen were busy.

"Did you hit it?"

"They did hit, but the rats were already on guard, and a few of the bullets were stopped by their protective shields."

This was the Night Watch's newly established department, the [Magic Power Weapons Research Institute], affiliated with the [Alchemy Laboratory]. This department's establishment was entirely the work of Cana, who even served as its director.

"Forget it, we have to take it back and improve it. The leader said this thing has great prospects and asked us to work hard on it."

"I know, I know. I'm tired of hearing this. Why do you keep repeating it every day?"

"This is the leader's approval, do you understand?"

"How can I not understand? But you can't say it every day, eight or ten times a day, who can stand it!"

"Okay, I won't argue with you anymore. Go move the bricks first. That's the important thing."

The two men bickered as they walked towards the laboratory. They knew that these light bombs were just the beginning, and future wars would be completely changed by these new weapons.

It's time to blow these damn rats up.

……

Northern Mountain Defense Alchemy Laboratory [Temporary]

A Night Watch master alchemist stood at his laboratory table, his fingertips stroking a metal shell engraved with runes. A faint roar of explosions could be heard outside the window, shaking the glass slightly, but he didn't even flutter an eyelash.

"Master, the data from the seventh live-fire test is in." A gray-robed researcher hurried over, holding a parchment scroll. "Penetration has increased by 30%, but magical fluctuations will still reveal the trajectory in advance."

"Replace the holy silver plating with star dust," Kana said suddenly, his fingertips drawing a silver arc on the bullet casing under the light. "And add spiral air grooves to the bullet body—just like the tail feathers of an arrow."

Kana's sudden appearance did not surprise anyone.

The researcher was stunned: "But this will reduce the blast range."

"What we want is precise penetration of the protective shield, not a fireworks show." Kana turned and walked towards the display shelf where twelve different types of light bullet models were placed.

"Inform the foundry to reforge the warhead using the newly arrived cold iron ore. Tell the dwarven craftsmen that I require cutting accuracy no greater than the thickness of a hair."

After Kana spoke, the alchemist pondered and muttered, "What kind of structure is this? I've never thought about it this way."

Hearing this, Cana looked at him.

"This is because……"

These people are the great treasures for the future development of magic-powered weapons, and we must make sure they understand our ideas.
