Chapter 123 As expected, Amano’s only appearance can be called cute

It is even less likely that Cybertronians would eat insects, as they simply do not need to replenish themselves with protein.

He moved the corners of his mouth but didn't say anything - Amano had never seen Transformers, and even the information about Cybertronians was searched on the Internet. It was not wise to discuss the settings with such a person.

But it is basic common sense that cars use gasoline as energy in real life... He wanted to speak again, but saw Amano take two steps back and happened to be surrounded by several fireflies.

A faint green light flickered and danced around the girl.

"Have you ever seen fireflies, Amano-san?"

"How could I not have seen it before - and you still say you have no prejudice against Tokyo people?" Amano still hadn't recovered from his fear of insect cuisine. When he saw fireflies around him, his first reaction was to take two steps back instead of trying to catch them.

After waiting for a few seconds and finally calming down, she cautiously reached out her hand and watched the fireflies land on her fingertips.

"So bright..." Amano sighed subconsciously, then suddenly remembered that he was standing next to him and coughed again. "Brighter than the fireflies I saw in the park near my home."

The park... probably they were put there manually, and most of them might have been tormented to death during transportation.

"I know a place," he thought for a moment and said, "that's very popular with fireflies. Dozens or even hundreds of them gather together, and it's quite beautiful."

"Here?" Amano stared at the sparkling little creature still resting on her fingertips, and her voice became much softer when she spoke to him.

"It's not far, it will take about ten minutes to walk there," he said.

"Well, after dinner, maybe..."

"Who said we should go after dinner? Of course we should go now."

"Now?" Amano raised his head unexpectedly and looked at him.

The firefly that was resting on her fingertips was frightened and flew away in a flutter.

"If the night gets any darker, they'll scatter." He lied again, deceiving the girl who had lived in the city since childhood, "Now's the perfect time to see them."

"Didn't Auntie say—"

"It doesn't matter. My mother won't mind if I leave a beautiful girl like Amano-san out here. Not to mention dinner, she won't even come home all night," he joked.

"What do you mean all night..." Amano frowned, then took two steps back after realizing what was happening, shaking her head in refusal, "Then I can't go with you to see fireflies, Inoue-san."

"Why?" He rarely thought about this person, but all he got was suspicion and alienation.

Ugh... I'm already feeling sad - if he plays the piano now, will his piano skills suddenly improve?

"Given what you just said, and your terrible personality," Amano said warily, one hand protecting his collar and the other groping in his pocket for his phone. "I find it hard to believe you wouldn't take me to a place where I can't call for help and do something to my body."

"Does Amano-san think I'm someone who would do something like this?"

"Nothing is impossible." Amano lowered his hand from protecting his collar and gripped his phone tightly, as if he were to call the police if he took a step closer. "We only just met earlier this summer. I don't know you well enough to know what you're up to."

"Then I'll go see the fireflies. You go home first and tell my mother by the way, okay?" He walked around Amano and headed towards the bus stop.

"..."

When he turned around again, he found that Amano was still standing there.

Don't you remember the way to his house?
"Do you want to see it?" he asked impatiently.

Amano looked at him silently, and another firefly landed on the hand that was holding her cell phone.

After waiting for a few more seconds, Amano finally sighed and walked towards him.

"Really ten minutes?" Amano walked to his side, looked at the old station pavilion with a rusty roof, and confirmed with him again.

"That's about right. Who can calculate it so clearly?" He walked onto the railway under Amano's gaze, turned around and waved to her, "Go this way."

"...Take the railway?" Amano hesitated.

I don’t know if it was his illusion, but as night fell, Amano gradually became much more timid.

"There are no trains passing by at night, so there's no need to worry about being hit like a deer suddenly rushing out of the forest," he comforted her.

"Of course I know."

"Then why are you still standing there?"

"I see wooden sleepers on the railway. Will there be any problems if I step on them?"

"If you're worried about this, why don't you just not step on it? There's buffer gravel under the rails and sleepers, and below that is the ground. It's not an empty cliff or abyss." He said unhappily.

"I mean you shouldn't step on it either, Inoue-san."

"It can run over a huge object like a train without any harm, so what's the harm if I step on it..." He couldn't help but complain.

But Amano still refused to move, so he could only walk down the tracks and onto the open space next to him.

Only then did Amano nod in satisfaction and follow.

As they continued along the tracks, the track became narrower and narrower, forcing them to step back onto the sleepers.

Amano turned on the flashlight function on his mobile phone and asked him to watch his step and not step on the loose wooden boards.

They walked until they stopped in front of an inconspicuous narrow path. He led Tianye into the forest.

It was a small stream that flowed into the town river, and there happened to be a piece of open space of medium size beside the stream.

You can see the entire night sky from the surrounding trees with lush branches and leaves.

The wind that had been blowing all day blew away the dark clouds, lighting up the night sky with a pretty starry sky.

Swarms of fireflies danced in this untouched open space.

Soon after Amano and he turned into the narrow path, they caught a glimpse of the secret-like scene from afar through the gaps between the tree trunks.

They all walked lightly, fearing to disturb these tiny creatures who might be celebrating fireflies like the Obon Festival before them.

Just like that, I tiptoed into this world where fireflies were like stars falling into the human world.

The scene of fireflies repeatedly landing on Amano's fingertips by the bridge suddenly became more and more powerful in this world.

The fireflies seemed to welcome Amano to join them. From the moment she stepped in, they suddenly surrounded her, dancing around her and accompanying her to the center of the world.

When she stopped by the stream, the fireflies landed on her head, on her shoulders, and stayed on her body.

He stood outside the secret realm just one step away from this world, in the dark shade of the trees, witnessing such a strange and dreamy scene unfolding before his eyes.

Amano was only wearing a white dress, white socks and white shoes. Her long, smooth black hair had no hair accessories and fell naturally in front of her back.

With the decoration of fireflies, the plain white dress suddenly becomes gorgeous.

He was stunned for a moment, staring at Amano standing among the swarm of fireflies for a long time.

It wasn't until he felt someone tapping his shoulder that he finally woke up from his dreamy trance.

"Is it beautiful?" Amano asked him with a half-smile, under the light of dozens, hundreds of fireflies working together. "Beautiful..." He couldn't help but think of Amano's resistance just now. Was she because she knew this spectacle would happen and wanted to hide it from him?

"If you ask me why, I'm not entirely sure." Amano once again guessed what had just occurred to him and said softly, "I've been experiencing this since my first encounter with fireflies. I consulted some doctors, and they concluded that a certain scent emitted from my body is incredibly attractive to them, forcing them to view me as a larger species."

"If that's the case, it's better not to explain..."

"Are you moved?" Amano may have curled up the corner of his mouth, raised a finger, paused slightly in the air, waited for a firefly to fall on it, and then slowly raised it in front of his eyes.

But before he could observe it closely for a few seconds, the firefly suddenly flew away as if it had suddenly noticed something.

"I almost decided to deify you." He watched with regret as the firefly flew back to the stream.

"……god?"

"The God of Fireflies," he said seriously, "possessing the body of a real-life girl, she can use this to fulfill the wishes of those who sincerely ask for her help. However, if she falls in love with a human and attempts to actively contact them, the curse hidden in the girl's body will be triggered, and she will disappear from the world. From then on, she will become like other messed-up gods, only able to meet mortals in shrines."

"Did you just think of that?" Amano listened to him patiently.

"No, I suddenly thought of 'Firefly Forest' and adapted it a little bit."

"It's time to go back." Amano said to him, then turned around and waved goodbye to the fireflies.

He looked at Amano waving to the fireflies in silence.

Although he had always regarded Amano as an ordinary sixteen-year-old girl, this was the first time he truly saw her such a girlish side.

Simple, cute...

"Is there something?" After saying goodbye to Firefly, Amano noticed his gaze.

"It's okay..." He shook his head, turned around and went back to the forest path...

He and Amano returned along the same route, walked along the railway tracks back to the station, walked onto the bridge, and returned to the town. Half an hour had passed without them realizing it.

When they walked through the streets of the town and were about to reach the door of their home, his mother called him again.

The first thing I did when the phone was connected was not to ask why he hadn't returned home yet, but to ask if Amano was around.

"Not now." He did not move, but paused for a few seconds and responded to his mother.

"So Miss Amano is not satisfied with dinner..." On the other end of the phone, after hearing him say that he had temporarily avoided Amano, his mother even lowered her voice and asked him in a low voice.

"If you're talking about dissatisfaction, I should be the first one to be dissatisfied, right?" He glanced at Amano beside him as he spoke. He didn't notice that the girl had any intention of eavesdropping on the conversation. "I'm really craving pork chops, stewed beef, fried fish, or something like that..."

"Whatever you want is fine... Where's Miss Amano?" His mother answered casually without considering his feelings at all, and continued to ask questions that concerned her.

This once again made him feel heartbroken, and he wanted to find a piano to test his skills...

"Amano said that as long as it is food that I can accept, she can accept it." When he said this, Amano suddenly looked over and seemed to be hesitant to speak.

"Except insects," he added hastily.

"...Really?" the mother asked on the phone in disbelief.

But in reality, they had already reached the front door of their home.

"I can't rule out the possibility of bragging." He considered for a moment, leaving a way for Amano, and as he walked into the yard, he said to his mother on the phone, "We're back."

Only then did the mother finally hear footsteps in the yard, hung up the phone, and came out of the room to greet me.

My father hid in the entrance hall, looking furtively behind my mother, staring at Amano for a while.

"Auntie..." Amano called out hesitantly, and couldn't help but step back.

"Amano Kanade, a classmate in the same club." He introduced her to his father in the entrance hall.

"Ah..." The man scratched his head and stepped out from beside his mother. "I'm Chu's father..."

"Good evening, Uncle..." Amano, who had been relatively relaxed when meeting his mother, suddenly felt a little nervous at this moment.

He bowed to his father quite formally and even broke into honorifics.

"Ah... no need, no need! Just call me by my last name..." The father also became nervous and waved his hands at Amano repeatedly, watching her bend down and bow, then raise her head again, at a loss.

"Then, I'll call you Mr. Inoue (さん)."

"That's fine, Uncle (おじさん), Miss Amano, you don't have to be so polite." The father then waved his hand and said.

Should he just call him uncle? That was a little too soon... He listened, watching as a misunderstanding that shouldn't have existed in the first place gradually deepened thanks to his family's tireless efforts.

"Hello, Uncle Inoue. Thank you for your care these past two days." Amano smiled politely and followed the address his father wanted.

"No... I'm at work every day, so there's nothing I can do for you... But that kid Chu is at school, thank you Miss Amano for taking care of him..."

"When did your son need other people to take care of him?" He couldn't help but interrupt the conversation.

"It's different." His father shook his head at him and retorted seriously, "There are some things you can never do with your status."

"Yeah." He was hungry now and didn't want to continue arguing about this topic.

The mother welcomed Amano into the house while the father watched with a goofy grin on his face.

He walked at the end, closed the door, changed his shoes, and placed them next to the steps together with Amano's sneakers.

Apart from the lack of meat, the dinner my mother prepared was quite sumptuous. The ingredients were fresh, the seasonings were perfect, and the cooking time was just right.

Amano didn't mind the lack of meat at all and ate about the same amount of rice with him, showing his support - that's what he thought at first, but then he remembered that this person had a history of eating according to his appetite before, and now he was probably just imitating him.

After finishing a bowl of miso soup, Amano held the bowl for a long time without taking a sip. His stomach was completely full from his wolfing down.

"By the way, if Miss Amano doesn't mind," his mother said softly as she cleared the dishes in the kitchen, "the guest room next to the first room has been cleaned up and has new bedding. You can stay here tonight."

"Oh, sorry... Thank you, Auntie. I have already booked a room at the hotel." Amano still couldn't finish the half-remaining bowl of miso soup, and apologized to his mother a little embarrassedly.

"Well... the hot water is ready, why don't you take a bath here first? If you're not used to going to the bathhouse..."

"Actually, I'm quite interested in the bathhouse and want to experience it."

"Then, Chu, why don't you go to the bathhouse and take a bath tonight?" The mother tried to persuade Amano to stay but to no avail, so she turned her anger towards him and wanted to kick him out of the house.

"Why..." He knew what his mother was planning, but if he agreed directly, it would only deepen the misunderstanding, so he opened his mouth to say something.

"I want to soak in the hot bath for a while longer. You can save time by going to the bathhouse." His mother interrupted him and urged him.

“…” He looked at Amano and saw that she put the bowl of miso soup to her lips, but her mind was not on drinking the soup at all. She was just listening to her mother scolding him and laughing at him.

Noticing his gaze, Amano drooped his eyelids slightly and avoided his gaze.

...definitely smirking.
