Chapter 100 Lin Jiachuan: Brother, you are becoming picky about food now

Chapter 100 Lin Jiachuan: Brother, you are becoming picky about food now
Night, bright moon and few stars
In the woods, many torches were lit, and there were special searchlights above the torches.

There were several tables placed in the middle of a bonfire, on which sat Emperor Wu of Han and several of his generals.

This scene takes place before the Battle of Hexi. Emperor Wu of Han arranged the troops and took the generals out hunting, and then had a barbecue and chat at night.

The actors who played Wei Qing and Li Guang either cut the meat with a knife and devoured it with relish, or simply lifted up the lamb leg and gnawed on it.

Only Huo Qubing, played by Yan Li, remained indifferent and drank silently. Emperor Wu of Han wondered why he didn't eat. Huo Qubing replied that the food was too rough and he didn't like it.

"So what do you do when you're away at war?"

"It's simple. Just bring a few more chefs."

The generals were very dissatisfied, and Li Guang was particularly dissatisfied. When going out to fight, you have to worry about your life, so how can you bring a cook with you? Besides, if a general does not share the hardships with his soldiers, who will be willing to work for him?

Uncle Wei Qing also did not support his nephew, believing that sharing hardships could boost morale and inspire the troops.

Huo Qubing was unconcerned and retorted loudly: "Kindness is not the key to leading an army. To lead an army in battle, one does not need benevolence or righteousness. As long as rewards and punishments are clearly defined, and the soldiers know that if they win the battle, they will have everything, then they will be able to arouse their desire for victory."

"For a general, the most important thing is to win. If you can't win the battle, even if you share the hardships with your soldiers every day, you are still an incompetent general."

"..."

Jiang Qitao, the screenwriter of "The Emperor Wu of Han", is very fond of Huo Qubing. He portrays Huo Qubing from various angles to highlight his genius thinking that is different from other generals.

The above plot is just like this. It refutes the mainstream argument of "loving soldiers like sons" in an alternative way, and also seems to be playing a trick on Li Guang.

Li Guang loved his soldiers like his own sons and shared the joys and sorrows with them, but he just couldn't win the battle, had no merit, and even risked losing his life.

Although Huo Qubing did not command the army, he enjoyed privileges, but following him gave one a greater chance of survival and one could also be rewarded for meritorious service.

If you were a soldier, which general would you follow?

Yan Li did not comment on which of the two ideas was more correct, after all, each had its pros and cons.

But Yan Li felt that Huo Qubing in history was actually a person who was very caring and generous to his soldiers.

The place name Jiuquan came from the fact that Huo Qubing poured the wine rewarded to him by Emperor Wu of Han into a spring and drank it with his soldiers.

The screenwriter may have been influenced by "Records of the Grand Historian" when writing this plot.

"Records of the Grand Historian" is a good book, but perhaps because of Sima Qian's experience, it does have some subjective color.

Especially during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, Sima Qian had a lot of personal opinions. He highly praised Li Guang's family, with whom he had a good relationship. However, when it came to Wei Huo, who had made greater achievements but was a relative of the emperor, he mostly used a bit of the Spring and Autumn style of writing, secretly adding some negative information, or openly praising but actually criticizing.

In "Records of the Grand Historian", Sima Qian recorded that Emperor Wu of Han rewarded Huo Qubing with ten carts of wine and meat. Huo threw away a lot of leftovers, but the soldiers were left hungry.

This was in stark contrast to Li Guang and his soldiers sharing the same food and clothing, which later led Sima Guang to criticize him severely in "Zizhi Tongjian".

But what Sima Qian did not record was that many of those who followed Huo Qubing to fight and were hungry were eventually granted titles of nobility.

Whenever Li Guang led troops and the army got lost, missing the opportunity to fight, or was completely wiped out and escaped alone, all of these were mentioned in passing, and then his character and bravery were praised.

The most outrageous thing is that "Records of the Grand Historian" also mentioned Wei Huo in the "Biographies of Favorites", and most of the people listed here are male favorites.

Although it's because of my in-laws, it still feels a bit weird.

Not to mention that modern people are extremely dissatisfied with this, even many scholars and writers in ancient times also ridiculed it.

How can ordinary people achieve the wonderful ability of Shih-chien's writing, which is so powerful and effective?

Also because Sima Qian liked to express profound meanings in subtle ways, many historians have conducted in-depth analysis or overturned the verdict on the part where Huo Qubing threw away meat and grain.

Huo Qubing preferred to travel light when fighting, and it is very likely that he deliberately threw away the baggage for the sake of mobility.

Han Dynasty logistics were undoubtedly mediocre, and with Huo Qubing often deep behind enemy lines, it was inevitable that his soldiers would go hungry. Yan Li had previously noticed, while reading the script, that "Emperor Wu of Han" was heavily influenced by "Records of the Grand Historian" and was less impressed by the more official "Book of Han."

However, unlike Sima Qian's prejudice, the screenwriter prefers Wei Huo and gives him many highlight roles.

Li Guang also gave a relatively tragic and perfect ending. He took the initiative to act as bait, fought to the death, and was defeated on the battlefield.

Therefore, the argument between Huo Qubing and Li Guang on how to lead troops was not necessarily the screenwriter's attempt to play tricks on Li Guang. It was just a bit of black humor based on real history.

...

Compared with the implicit hostility and grudges between the characters in the play and real historical figures.

Yan Li himself has a good relationship with Mr. Lu Shuming, who plays Li Guang.

He himself is even considered a half-fan of Teacher Lu.

When he was a child, he watched "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and his favorite characters were Guan Yu played by Mr. Lu and Zhuge Liang played by Tang Guoqiang. When he grew up a little, he fell in love with the treacherous hero Cao Cao played by Mr. Bao Guoan.

When he grew up, Yan Li began to like Diao Chan, Xiao Qiao, Sun Shangxiang, Empress He, Zou Shi, Madam Zhu Rong...

No matter what, Yan Li has collaborated with his childhood idol, and he even took a photo with Teacher Lu as a souvenir.

It is worth mentioning that the scene Yan Li performed that day was the one where Huo Qubing killed Li Guang’s son Li Gan.

He killed the other person's "son" one foot, and then took the other person's "father" to take a photo. Lin Jiachuan, who was taking the photo at the time, gave him a thumbs up and praised him for his fun.

In addition to Lu Shuming, Yan Li also played well with Ren Zhong, who played Zhang Qian.

On the one hand, the two are of similar age. In the crew of "The Emperor of Han Wu", there are not many young actors of similar age and with certain weight in their roles. Young people have no common language with old actors, so they gradually get together to play.

On the other hand, my buddy graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Tong Dawei is his senior, and the two have a good personal relationship.

Tong Dawei knew that the two were in the same crew, so he made a special phone call to connect them so that they could take care of each other.

However, if we talk about the actor who has the best relationship with Yan Li in "Emperor Wu of Han", it has to be Lin Jing, who plays Wei Zifu.

The man is handsome and the woman is beautiful, they are of similar age, and they have a lot of rival scenes, so their relationship becomes closer very quickly.

But recently, Yan Li started to avoid Lin Jing.

There is no way, if a man is handsome, sweet-talking and loves to spend money, it is easy for him to have many romantic opportunities.

Before, Yan Li didn’t care. As long as the person was good-looking, he would accept anyone who came. But after suffering a loss at the hands of Qin Lan, he became a little picky about people.

He doesn't want to provoke those who cling to him and won't let go.

But Lin Jing is a bit traditional. As soon as Yan Li found out that the other party wanted to have a serious relationship, he started to avoid suspicion.

One reason was that he was afraid of trouble, and the other was that Lin Jing was indeed not his favorite type. She was too delicate and plain, had an average figure, and a somewhat dull personality.

It would be fine to make some friends in the crew and say goodbye after the filming is over, but if he wants to go further, he should conserve his energy and go back to deal with Dong Xuan and the others.

Lin Jiachuan was very surprised by Yan Li's choice and made a sharp comment.

"Brother, now that you've become rich, you've become picky about food?"

"piss off."

Yan Li couldn't help but kick him. He had always been picky, but now he was more cautious. In addition to paying attention to the color, aroma and taste, he also paid attention to the after-meal experience...
