Mystery: She came from the Chaos Sea

Chapter 28 They Thought They Were Still Alive

Chapter 28 They Thought They Were Still Alive
The red moon hangs high in the sky.

In the desolate and cold wilderness, a deformed monster lay in a pool of blood, its flesh and blood a mangled mess. The scales on its body glowed with the cold moonlight, but the partially exposed skin showed that it was once a human.

Hermione picked up the condensed characteristics and searched the corpse and other places for possible relics, but this deformed monster had obviously been wandering in the wilderness for too long, and no objects that could prove his identity were found.

But after observing the distorted monster's performance in battle, Hermione realized that the monster was originally a Beyonder of the "Mind Reader" variety.

"Two years ago, a wandering human with the ability to read other people's minds arrived at the tribe. However, he didn't align with the tribe's philosophy, so he simply exchanged some supplies with the tribe and continued on his way..."

Hermione used her Dragon Scale ability to smash a large crater in the ground. She buried the deformed monster's corpse and sighed, "I didn't expect he couldn't get very far..."

A fallen person from the Visionary Path died in such a place. Hermione, who knew what lay ahead, knew it was no coincidence.

This is the manifestation of the aggregation of extraordinary characteristics.

"We're not far from our destination..." Hermione brushed off the dirt and dead branches that stained her body and looked at Amanesis beside her. "For the rest of the journey, I can only rely on you."

The darkness actually made Amanesis's vision clearer. His gaze pierced through the fog in the darkness ahead, and his expression grew slightly solemn. He sensed a divine aura in the wreckage of the human tribe ahead, although this aura was very faint in his spiritual perspective.

Continuing forward, they found signs of past human life. After crossing a fence that had rotted beyond recognition in the bushes, a low, silent stone house appeared before them.

Hermione glanced around, reminiscing as she spoke, "Originally, this was a fairly large human tribe, also sheltered by the giants. When I was still a minor, I visited here several times with Mr. Mar, the tribe's then-living councillor."

"Because the leader here, known as the 'Mentor,' was a powerful Beyonder who possessed the ability of 'Psychological Suggestion.' Mr. Mal took me with him at that time, and I learned a lot from him, and I benefited greatly."

Hermione swept her gaze over the human skeletons arranged in a strange, yet somewhat regular pattern on the ground. She suppressed her slightly fluctuating emotions, pointed in a direction that resonated with her, and confirmed with Amanesis, "Is there something unusual over there?"

Amanisis nodded. "Yes. But there are quite a few vengeful spirits ahead."

Hermione's eyes grew darker, and with her clairvoyance activated, she saw those vague, barely human-like vengeful spirits.

Densely packed spiritual bodies.

They are the tribal humans who once lived here.

The vengeful spirits danced a strange and stiff dance in unison, and then they inserted their arms into the throat in unison... their arms penetrated to an incredible depth.

Then something seemed to be pulled out of his throat, so vague that Hermione could not see clearly.

Amanesis seemed to see the scene much more clearly than Hermione. He said calmly:

"These remaining spirits are repeating their actions in life."

“They think they are still alive.”

"Judging from this scene before his death, it fits the Mind Dragons' 'Mind Plague' ability, a mind-controlling ability that can cause large groups of people to go insane."

Hermione let out a soft sigh, her tone gentle, "Can you... 'bury' them?" The night grew even darker, and countless black dots spread out around them. These small black dots gathered into a river, rising higher and higher, like a river of darkness, not even reaching the ankles, legs, and ribs of these spirits...

They stopped their creepy movements that had been repeating for who knows how long.

They looked at each other blankly and doubtfully, some emotion seemed to surge in their empty eyes, but when the dark river submerged them all, all the spirits within their sight melted into the darkness.

The black tide did not disappear, it surged deeper.

Following this black tide, Hermione went to the place that attracted her spirit. In the center of the square that used to be the tribe, she saw a dragon.

A gray-white dragon with an incomplete body.

A headache made Hermione's vision slightly blurred, a feeling of hunger rising from the bottom of her heart made her mind a little confused, and a feeling of fear made the trembling rise from her tailbone and spread throughout her body.

But under the influence of some mysterious force, none of these were enough to drive Hermione crazy and out of control.

And a cool hand grasped Hermione's wrist, and the soothing power made her feel comfortable and calm.

The gray-white dragon opened its golden vertical eyes and stared at Hermione. It gently flapped its wings covered with tattered membranes and made a hunting gesture.

Hermione murmured softly, "She is indeed here... But after all these years, why hasn't she left here? Is she still alive..."

"His spirit...cannot be called alive, but his body still retains a certain degree of activity."

Amanesis frowned as he observed the gray dragon in its strange state, paying attention to its movements. He said, "His physical condition is also extremely poor, a sign of not eating for a long time. And now, he shows a very obvious desire to eat. However..."

Amanesis paused, "His desire to fight falls upon me."

The skinny gray-white dragon suddenly rose up, and fine and hard dragon scales grew out from its gray-white skin like steel. With a frenzied mental fluctuation, it rushed towards Amanesis.

"Aliens! Die!"

In a trance, Hermione also heard a familiar and ethereal female voice, but it was just the remnant of an obsession that spanned time.

Amanesis did not even make a move. He sighed softly, because the gray-white dragon's body had exhausted the last bit of his vitality in this sudden change.

The huge dragon's body did not fall in front of Amanesis, but shattered into crystal fragments, like a huge broken crystal.

Seeing this scene, Hermione opened her mouth slightly, but in the end she just sighed softly with a complicated expression.

"Other passing transcendental creatures have been killed by this kind of dying counterattack." Amanesis surveyed the surrounding traces and said, "But it's really a coincidence that this is his last counterattack. However, if a transcendental creature without divine power approached, the frenzied spirit just now would be enough to make it lose control and commit suicide."

"There are traces of humans. Is this the 'mentor' of the tribe you mentioned?" Amanesis looked at Hermione with a little confusion.
