Chapter 475 Trouble
Chapter 475 Trouble
Facts have proved that the "professional group" is much slippery than the "amateur group".
This is what happened that night:
A guy with unknown origins sneaked into the target's residence in the middle of the night.
About forty minutes later, a figure climbed out from the window of the nearby alley.
According to normal logic, the guy who turned out was either the "sneaky" guy who just went in, or the man in the windbreaker who lived here, so Wayne didn't let the other party run far, and the agents secretly controlled him.
However, after a quick look under the light, the captured person's clothes showed that he was neither of the two. Wayne naturally speculated and reasonably suspected that the detective agency's personnel or the other two surveillance points had been discovered in advance by the man in the windbreaker, so he directly sent someone to break into the house, intending to arrest or chase him in time.
When I arrived at the suite rented by the man in the windbreaker, I found a man tied up like a dumpling, gagged, and lying on the bedroom floor, stammering.
The agents recognized that this guy was not the man in the windbreaker, so they asked him where the man in the windbreaker had gone.
It turned out that this guy was just a thief with bad intentions. He overheard someone in the bar saying that the resident of this house might be carrying a lot of cash tonight.
So he planned to take advantage of the opportunity to make a move, but he was quickly defeated.
After the man in the windbreaker subdued him, he briefly asked about the situation, then left him in the bedroom, closed the door and left quickly.
In this situation, a normal person would easily think that the man in the windbreaker had evacuated in advance and was out of surveillance, and the next predictable action would probably be to chase him quickly.
Unfortunately, the detective agency still has enough staff, and Wayne and the detectives trust the observation skills of Inessa and Connor. They do not doubt that a second person has left the house during this period of time. Therefore, they directly expanded the scope of the investigation and also brought in patrolling police officers.
Finally, the group caught the man in the windbreaker who was hiding in another apartment in the house that was rented out and was about to escape.
This guy is quite smart. He knows that the wife who lives next door to the house is taking advantage of her husband's drinking tonight and is hanging out with her lover as usual. He also knows that the warehouse guard upstairs has a reversed day and night schedule and is most likely not at home at this moment.
Therefore, he had a slight inspiration and caused trouble for a large group of people. The lover who received his hint and quietly climbed out the window but was inexplicably controlled, had thanked him before.
Wayne didn't care about these things. Since the patrol officers were already there, no matter if it was the thief, the lover, or the man in the windbreaker, they were all taken away for investigation.
Those who deserve to be tried will be tried, and those who deserve to be killed will be killed. As for the man in the windbreaker, he obviously has an accomplice. He probably discovered that this place is under surveillance and he can't get close by himself, so he came up with the idea of luring the thief to come.
When he got to the police station, Wayne deliberately used the trick of the "prisoner's dilemma", making the man in the windbreaker and the assassin see each other from a distance, and then he struck while the iron was hot, trying to get more information.
Unexpectedly, these two guys were quite tenacious. They had only seen each other before and hadn't even had a chance to look each other in the eye, but the confessions they gave during the interrogation still seemed to be as if they had been discussed beforehand. One of them took full responsibility for the assassination, while the other knew nothing when asked. He was already an adult but still pretended to be innocent and cute.
Wayne asked, feeling a little impressed, "Is the treatment in your company so good? Or is it that the relationship between you is so good that you don't want to betray each other?"
The man in the windbreaker who claimed his name was "Steve" finally made a rare defense:
"We have a normal relationship as colleagues, there is no strange feeling."
Wayne looked at him with some surprise and some understanding. He didn't expect that there was such a thing between them. It was indeed a spy organization sent by the Kingdom of Windsor. This aspect was quite consistent with Wayne's stereotype.
But no matter what, the emotional fluctuations of the interrogated person are a good sign, which means that this may be a good breakthrough. At least he has now admitted that he and the murderer of the assassination case are "colleagues". So Wayne asked Doug to continue to dig deeper into this guy's emotions and try to get the windbreaker man to say more.
As for Wayne himself, he turned back to the assassin, intending to replicate the scene and see if he could find another way out. The assassin didn't seem to have much affection for the man in the windbreaker.
While Wayne lamented that he had "gave his love to the wrong person", he continued to tell the murderer about his deep affection for the other party.
Men, for those who like them, tend to be soft-hearted, sometimes feel guilty, or betrayed, and then want to make up to the other person.
Wayne does not have much practical experience in emotional matters, but he has a wealth of theoretical knowledge. Soon, the murderer named "Carl" was made a little less confident by Wayne. While feeling somewhat resistant, he slowly fell into memories. Sometimes he looked moved, and sometimes he seemed to be scared, and then the two emotions seemed to cycle.
Inissa stared back and forth between the two single cells. Even if the two guys were still unwilling to talk about the case, as long as they started to talk about the past, everything would become clear.
At least through what happened that night, the detective agency has determined that their gang is definitely more than just two people. Even if this case does not ultimately involve someone like Pastor Bazzini, if they can catch a few more accomplices, they might be able to get away with it.
I'm afraid Bishop Corleone is still not satisfied, so it would be best to find out the murderer's motives more clearly.
Reverend Tyrell seems to be more "motivated" in this matter. Maybe as long as he can catch someone, he will be able to implicate certain people in the matter.
Everything seems to be going in the right direction.
Wayne was adding fuel to the fire on both sides, hoping that the two criminals would save each other, and then the bad news came.
"Linna was attacked?! Is she hurt?"
This was indeed a possibility that Wayne had never imagined. Lina's self-protection ability was top-notch in the detective agency. Logically speaking, the missions she had recently performed were not very dangerous, but unexpectedly, something went wrong on her side.
The one who came to tell Wayne the news was Willy, who had been cooperating with Lina to play the role of "the daughter of a noble in distress". Willy quickly dispelled Wayne's worries:
“Ms. Lina is fine, but Mr. Molière is injured.
"For safety reasons, Miss Lina brought him to the temporary base of our detective agency. However, he is not clear about the relationship between Miss Lina and us yet. He just thinks that Miss Lina is asking for urgent help."
Still gotta act...
Wayne thought about it for a moment. Two things happened in one night. Could it be that the accomplices of the assassin had started to "clean up the aftermath"?
If that's the case, then their scale seems to be larger than imagined.
