Chapter 456 Visiting the patient

Chapter 456 Visiting the patient
I took three cars of detective agency people to Richmond,

Wayne bought a box of apples on the way and went to visit Tom Hagen according to the address written in the file.

The church hospital that even the cathedral sent people to should have the best medical conditions in the area, or at least one of the best.
But when we actually got there, it looked more like a monastery that was not open to the public, and the environment was quite simple.

It's actually not easy to get in here. There are so many people from the detective agency, but only Wayne and Inissa were allowed in, as well as Sanders who helped move the apples.
If Lina had followed her partner's lead, she probably would have been able to get in, but she was too lazy to join in the fun, so she touched two apples and chose to visit the murderer at the police station.

Since it looks like a "monastery", the staff inside are basically dressed as monks or nuns.

Although the so-called "white coat" has emerged these days, it has not been strictly tied to the professional identity of medical staff. Doctors usually wear formal clothes. As for what to wear during surgery, it mainly depends on the doctor's personal preference, or which coat or robe he happens to be planning to change.

Tom Hagen's ward was in a small building in one of the courtyards. Even though they had been notified in advance that they could visit, Wayne and his companions still had to follow the monk who led the way and scan their faces before they could enter.

When I entered the ward, I saw that although Tom Hagen was tied up like a dumpling, he looked in good spirits. At least he was not the kind of person who would drool all the time after being cured.

"So you two are here just to perform 'eating apples' for me?"

After the initial greetings, since Tom Hagen didn't look like he was about to die, Wayne quickly got down to business and began asking him about some details of the incident, his relationship with the murderer, and his impression of the murderer.
Guessing that this place was probably heavily guarded and outside food might not be able to pass security checks, Wayne bought the apples only to show Tom Hagen. It was still unclear whether this guy could actually eat them. So while asking questions, Wayne took out two apples from the box that had been checked repeatedly several times, handed one to Inissa, and wiped the other and ate it himself.

Tom Hagen was still describing the circumstances of the crime, but when he heard the neat and crisp chewing sounds beside him, he couldn't help but protest.

Wayne pointed to a nun who was carefully monitoring the situation outside the ward:

"You probably wouldn't be able to eat it anyway, so it's good to listen to the sound. At least it can prove that the gift we brought is really good. What were you talking about just now? What were the murderer's subsequent actions after firing those shots?"

There seems to be nothing to go into detail about the crime. The murderer was not particularly professional. The first shot was neither "brain-opening" nor "open-minded". Tom Hagen was not a wooden man. Although he could not fight back, the subsequent shots did their best to avoid the vital parts.
Although he was indeed shot, the most dangerous situation at the time was actually heavy bleeding or internal organ damage. Now that he has survived, the main thing now is to treat the fracture and recover.

Considering his status, this matter is now more "insulting" than "dangerous".

Perhaps because the cathedral attached great importance to it, the previous investigation was relatively detailed. Wayne listened to it again and found that it was basically the same as the records in the file.

After visiting the patient and listening to the case, the real drama begins.

Wayne specifically asked before leaving, "Our detective agency has limited manpower, and we are not familiar with Richmond. Do you have any suitable personnel under your command who can be temporarily assigned to assist us in the investigation?"

Tom Hagen was "semi-fixed" at the moment, with no body language to show: "The people I commanded before all belonged to the cathedral, and they all obeyed the orders of the bishop. Now the bishop has no tasks for me, you see, I don't even have the freedom to eat and drink now.

"But since your investigation mission was arranged by the Bishop, the relevant departments should all cooperate, and perhaps you don't need so many people."

Okay, the freeloader failed.

Compared with the previous "emergency response", Tom Hagen's current case can only be regarded as an ordinary post-case investigation.

Wayne also knew that it would be difficult to get many people this time. After all, if it happened in a small western town, the sheriff might be the only one to handle such matters, and he could only mobilize people when catching a criminal.

Fortunately, Tom Hagen only said that he had no one, but he actually called a guy who was similar to his daily assistant to come and help, and the assistant also came with a follower.
These two guys are also members of the Cathedral. Wayne at least found two familiar faces in Richmond, which would probably make it easier to communicate with other departments later.

After leaving the church hospital, we went to the police station to meet up with Lina and the others.

It was a bit "unexpected but reasonable". Although Lina used the name of the detective agency and the written certificate of "special investigator" attached to the file, she actually ran into a soft nail. The people from the Richmond Police Department did not take her to see the murderer on the grounds that "the sheriff was out and had not returned".

In theory, the Church of the Holy Spirit does not directly interfere in secular affairs. For example, George Berg's exorcism department was solved by letting David Mills serve as a senior inspector in the local police station. The Richmond Police Department did not know whether it was intentional or not. After seeing the written certificate signed by the local city police committee, it only said that higher-level police officials needed to be present before they could cooperate with the work.

Lina was not annoyed. When Wayne and the others came, she was taking Willy around the police station, making jokes and getting familiar with them, and chatting about this and that to get information.

Although there was some suspicion of obstruction of official duties, considering the beauty of this pretty blonde and the proof in her hand, the police officers did not interfere with her too much. They seemed happy to chat with her in the lobby. At first glance, she looked like a socialite or street urchin who had many acquaintances in the police station.

At this time, the benefits of having a local guide are reflected.
Tom Hagen's assistant was named William Brandt. He was very familiar with the relevant systems in the Richmond Police Department. After a few rounds of communication, the police officer in charge of reception in the hall stopped talking nonsense. At this time, a sheriff also showed up at the right time, and Wayne and others naturally began to walk towards the prison.

On the way, Lina secretly winked at Wayne and Inissa and whispered to them, saying that this guy was actually in the police station before, and he was probably hiding on purpose before, and now he can't hide anymore so he ran out to fool people.

Many customs of Americans are similar to those in the Old World. People like to give their children the same names as celebrities or elders, so the rate of duplicate names is terribly high. The sheriff's name is also William, and his full name is William Kenzie.

Wayne secretly wrote down the name while pretending to be unaware.
Both parties treated each other with respect until the murderer was brought into the interrogation room.
