Chapter 50: Don't Be a Shadow Girlfriend
"You speak first."

"Well, I received an offer from the University of Kansas today. Guess what? A full scholarship!" Abigail was really excited.

"What good news do you have?"

"I'm about to sign a deal with a record label."

"Oh, you want to be a singer like Taylor?" Abigail on the other end of the phone did not seem excited.

"almost."

"Then, will you come today? I..." She hesitated.

She had wanted to invite Ryan to her home tonight to have dinner with her family and celebrate winning the scholarship.

"Maybe not today. Let's wait until the signing is officially completed and then we can celebrate together." Ryan said after thinking for a while.

"Okay, call me then."

Back in the recording studio, Ryan saw that everyone, including the producer, had already started packing up. Apparently, today's recording work was over. However, Taylor's movements were slower than ever.

"See you later, Taylor. Don't forget to ask me to be your opening guest on your tour." The female singer said goodbye to Taylor.

"I can't go on tour. I won't be able to sell any tickets at all." Taylor laughed and shook her head. She felt that she didn't have much box office appeal now.

"Don't be so modest, your new album will definitely sell well." said the female singer, with a bit of admiration in her compliment.

"I hope so." Taylor walked her to the door of the recording studio.

At this time, apart from a bunch of instruments and musical instruments, there were only Ryan and Taylor in the recording studio.

"Did you hear that? She said I'm going to go on tour next year, a global tour, in stadiums with tens of thousands of people!" Taylor couldn't suppress the smile.

"Pack your things quickly, I'll take you home." Ryan said.

"What's the hurry?" Taylor leaned back on the mixing desk, a move that was easy with her long legs.

"Do you get reimbursed for the ticket?"

"Then just reimburse me. I don't need that much." Taylor said nonchalantly.

After saying that, he stood up, grabbed Ryan's wrist, and walked towards the lounge connected to the recording studio.

"I haven't finished my work yet." She gently pushed Ryan to sit on the sofa.

"You better actually say 'work,'" Ryan said.

Taylor raised his eyebrows and said, "You're thinking nicely."

Then he actually went to the recording studio and brought back a Taylor guitar. This is not a Taylor-branded product, but it just happened to have the same name. Taylor has almost always used the 614ce model for his live performances in the past two years.

The one in her hand is hand-polished with a high-gloss coating, and it shines brightly under the light. The top is made of spruce, the back and sides are made of maple, and the fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony. The sound is bright, clear and pure. Of course, the price is not very affordable.

She sat on the high stool opposite, supporting herself with one leg and placing the other leg on the stool frame. She swung the guitar in her arms, and the temperament of a country singer immediately emerged.

“I wanna be somewhere where you are
I wanna be where
You're here
Your eyes are lookin' into mine
So baby make me fly…”

Her fingers flew across the strings as she sang softly, her body swaying with the rhythm, and her voice had a hint of the clarity of a child's voice.

Not many people would have the privilege of having the CMA New Artist of the Year perform alone for them, but Ryan's eyes were always fixed on the pair of long legs under the warm light.

If he were to write this song at this moment, it would not be called "Beautiful Eyes" but "Beautiful legs".

Taylor didn't finish singing one song, but instead sang a medley of songs that came to his mind, and Ryan heard many songs he had never heard before.

"So, which one do you think sounds best?" Taylor put down his guitar and threw the pick on the table.

"They all sound good." Ryan said immediately. How could he say they didn't sound good? In fact, Ryan only listened to the general idea of what was being sung just now, and his attention was not on the song anyway.

"Of course." Taylor unscrewed a bottle of Evian and gulped down two gulps. "I mean, that one is better."

"Yeah, the one that makes me fly." Ryan pretended to think.

"You mean Beautiful Eyes?"

"Correct."

"Okay, the new EP that's going to be released soon will use this song as the main theme, and the EP will be called Beautiful Eyes." Taylor winked at Ryan, showing off the sparkling eyeshadow she had just applied today.

"Ah? Don't you need Nathan Chapman to help you with advice?" Ryan felt a little guilty.

"He is the producer of the new album, not the EP, so he has no obligation to do so. Besides, this EP is exclusive to Walmart. It's a supplement to last year's sales agreement. If I put really good songs in it, I'll be at a disadvantage. But I can't be too perfunctory, otherwise it will be difficult to explain to the channel dealers." Taylor said.

Walmart is also one of the top distributors in the field of physical record sales. It is estimated that Taylor signed additional terms at the time. For example, if Walmart purchases more than a certain number of copies, he will give Walmart an extra exclusive EP.

"By the way, have you written any new songs recently? I know Harlem Rock is very popular, but it's not the kind of dynamic and beat-filled kind, but the soothing kind like country folk songs." Taylor suddenly asked.

"I can sing it reluctantly and put it in this EP. But it can't be garbage like "Fire and Rain"." Taylor tried to say.

This is undoubtedly a good opportunity for Ryan, but the only things he can offer now are the garbage that Taylor doesn't like.

"Then write it quickly, you still have a month!" Taylor reminded.

"Can't you just give me one? You have so many songs." Ryan said. Taylor's request was indeed a bit too much for Ryan now.

"Then I'll just give you all the money I earn."

"It's not impossible." Ryan is thick-skinned enough anyway.

"Hmph, maybe in the next life." Taylor fiddled with the ends of his golden hair.

"Just think of it as lending you a song first and returning it to you later."

"Borrow? What if I can't pay it back?"

"Then I can use a property as collateral, such as hundreds of millions of genetic genes."

"Stop!" Taylor immediately shook his head and changed his words: "I've given you the song, you can pick any of the abandoned songs!"

By this time Ryan had stood up and walked towards Taylor.

"Wait, there's someone outside!" Taylor pricked up his ears.

Ryan also heard the noise coming from outside. He opened the door of the lounge and saw a cleaning lady mopping the floor.

The next second, Taylor followed out of the lounge and turned back to Ryan and said, "Take me home."

·
"Hello, Mom, um, it's out, just out. There was a problem with the new song. I'm on the way now and will be back soon." Taylor in the car had messy hair, holding a mobile phone in one hand and the "gear lever" in the other.

"Oh, look at what time it is now." Taylor was shocked when he saw the time on his phone.

Blame me?
Just now, Taylor asked Ryan to take him home, and Ryan did so of course, but he took a longer detour... Could he miss this opportunity?

Ryan adjusted the seat. Unlike the Toyota Sequoia last time, this Challenger was a two-door version of the Charger, commonly known as a squatting dog in the back seat. Taylor was tall and big, so he couldn't stretch his body in this seat.

When I make money, I will buy a Yuhuang Emperor. It’s nothing special, just comfortable to sit in.

"I had planned to compete fairly with Abigail," Taylor blamed, fanning himself with his hands.

"I have a better solution." Ryan smiled.

Taylor immediately turned his head away, looked out the window, and said coldly: "I don't want to be a shadow girlfriend, if anyone wants to be one, she should be the one."
