Chapter 158 17

Chapter 158 17. Eating with Food
"Damn, this thing is really powerful!"

Jack opened his eyes and shouted. He sat on the sofa with his hands shaking. The aftereffects of death in the virtual space were difficult to recover from, even for a man like him.

"You haven't come into contact with many Black Mewtwo, have you? My reaction isn't as big as yours. So, how difficult is your selection?"

Sitting on his bed and drinking water, Oliver watched Jack finish. He was a little curious about what level he had reached. After Carl got the training chip yesterday and brought it over in the morning, this was only the first attempt for both of them.

Oliver, who had already sweated from the experience, continued:

"Didn't Carl set several difficulty levels? Practice difficulty, simple difficulty, hard difficulty, challenge difficulty. Which level are you at?"

"I passed the practice and simple levels easily. The difficult level was a bit thrilling, but I passed it. Not long after I entered the challenge, I was caught by the preset Arasaka ninja. Two mantis blades pierced directly through my chest."

Jack took out the chip, pointed to his chest with some lingering fear and said, "I feel like my heart has been ripped out by that charming blade."

"You took it out in the physical sense, right? You're stronger than me, so I had a hard time beating you. At the end, a New American soldier blew himself up. What the hell, I saw him explode but didn't react."

Oliver looked at Carl who was sitting there watching TV: "Come to think of it, Carl, have you challenged all the difficulty you set?"

“I set it that way because it’s over.”

Carl turned around and spread his hands: "The data here is just a pile of numbers, which is meaningless. I have already stuffed the most reasonable distribution and difficulties into it. There is no better data. It can only reach the challenge level."

"So the meaning of Challenge Level is that it is a challenge for you, right? Wait, if there are more amazing data, then when you enter the Despair Level, will you be able to see a few exoskeletons staring at me?"

"It could also be a combination of heavy, medium, and light ACPAs, plus a complete military technology team and Arasaka ninjas to assist. New American soldiers will be on patrol, with more than a dozen Kantao security alert machines working alongside them. Well, there should be a Lazarus who has rich combat experience as a lone wolf as a backup. After all, if a few exoskeletons are dealt with now, I won't despair."

"Damn it, is this configuration you're talking about something a normal person can handle? Who are you torturing?"

“So it’s called Despair difficulty.”

Carl didn’t quite understand. Isn’t the despair difficulty just despair?

"I should be thankful that there is no more advanced data in here, otherwise I would be blown to pieces by machine guns if I went in."

Oliver was talking as Jack handed him the chip: "Want to try again, Oliver?"

"of course."

Oliver took it without hesitation, still refusing to believe it: "It's just a difficult level, how can I not beat it? I won't play with the damn SOR-22 this time. That gun is not as good as a cat. I was so upset about it!"

"The price is quite different. Do you think the weapon manufacturing company is so kind that they would give you cheap, affordable and good-to-use products? Well, there are such guns, but you should not count on high-end weapons like sniper rifles."

Carl waved his hand and turned back to continue watching TV. When Oliver inserted the chip, Carl's voice came again.

"By the way, to ensure randomness, I have preset more than ten maps, and there are twenty random templates for the positions and matches of the players. Oliver, it may be a little difficult for you to memorize them. After all, this is real practice, so try your best."

"Damn, do you think I'll expect to get through with my back? I'm going to kill them today."

Oliver inserted the chip unwillingly, obviously he was angry. Considering his occasional temper when he was on the road, Carl just hoped that he would not get upset today.

"Why would a sniper like him bother with this?" Jack obviously wanted to relax after practicing once. He picked up a bottle of beer and sat next to Carl to watch TV together.

"Break through and annihilate, isn't that what we should do?"

"It's good to practice more. You never know when there will be a close-range danger that he will need to deal with himself."

Carl looked back at Oliver again, and after making sure that he was lying on the bed, immersed in practicing virtual space, he pulled out the single-molecule wire, plugged it into the interface connected to the TV next to the sofa, and tuned to a channel.

"Karl?"

Jack, puzzled by Carl's behavior, understood what Carl was doing the next second.

It was just boring news and ads, and Jack didn't know why Carl could watch TV for so long. Suddenly, the screen changed, and the
"Cool~"

Looking at what was displayed on the screen, showing Oliver, who was unable to raise his head in the hail of bullets and was trying hard not to activate the Swanwestan, Jack almost couldn't help but whistle.

"Third-person perspective, right?"

"I connected secretly. I ordered breakfast takeout. We'll have dinner later. I also ordered a few boxes of beer and other drinks. They're all on the way."

"Eating and drinking is much more interesting than watching a movie."

Is there anything that could be more joyful than watching your friends being tortured? If there is, it would definitely be having something to eat and drink with so you can lie down with your legs crossed and watch.

After Oliver dies four times, the takeaway arrives and Jack and Carl eat and chat.

"How many times do you think Oliver will pass?"

Jack asked, and Carl thought for a moment and said, "After all, Oliver hasn't been on the streets as long as you, Jack. Even after forming a team, he doesn't have much experience in close combat. If he practices, it should be within twenty times, right?"

"Twenty times, is that a lot? I think fifteen times is about right."

"boom!"

On the screen, Oliver was blown to death again. If it weren't for the fact that the virtual space was not very good at making unnecessary adjustments, Carl would have wanted to add a subtitle that read "dish".

"You have a good appetite today, Carl."

"It's a good way to eat while eating. If you watch it more, you'll enjoy the food better. And you're talking about me, Jack, you eat a lot too."

"I have a good appetite today, I can't help it."

After it took Oliver twenty-four tries to pass the level smoothly without any injuries, he was so tired and hungry that he opened his eyes and took out the chip. What he saw was Carl and Jack lying on the sofa, full and unable to move.

Looking at the dark screen in front of them and the mess on the floor, Oliver was a little confused.

"What are you watching? You're eating so happily. Is it a food show? It goes really well with rice."
